DeathNote

So now that DeathNote is starting to come out in the U.S., I figured it was time to see if there was anyone else in here that's a fan of the series. (I haven't seen any other threads about this series, so if ther is one, please point me to it. ^.^)

I absolutely love the series, due to its simple awesomeness, and how unique/twisted the plot and the characters are. On a side note, L amuses me to no end, so he's probably my favorite character (so far).

(Note: I tried to put the more often used translations or name used for the characters, but it does kinda vary from source to source..so just go with which one is closest. I'm especailly uncertain of the name for the Shinigami that Misa controls/works with sweatdrop )

Summary: Raito (Light) Yagami is an average, if not insanely intellegent, high school student until the day he finds and claims the DeathNote, a notebook from the Shinigami world with teh ability to kill anyone whose name is written within it. The series follows Raito as he attempts to create an utopia free of crime by means of using the DeathNote to do away with criminals and recreate himself as a god (named "Kira" by the general public) and as he attempts to outsmart the famous detective L.

I'm glad that there's at least one other person in here that knows the series..though it is kinda odd that no one else seems to, especially how popular it is in that semi-underground manner.

I've only read the first two Deathnote's but its really good so far. Light kinda freaks me out but I think L's awsome. I dont know what it is but his expressions always look odd to me...

L is the most insane/genius character...he reminds me of both a monkey and an owl, for some reason... sweatdrop Both in part due to how he acts/his mannerisms and also a little bit to do with how he looks.

I can definately see how'd you'd picture the monkey(how he moves) and the owl(his eyes eek ). He makes me think of the genius computer hermit who never leaves his room....but his mannerisms kinda make me think of a little kid. xp L = confusing, but i like him anyway xd

So, as somewhat mentioned above, tehre is going to be a live version movie(s) adaption of Death Note, and from the trailers I've seen for it, it looks awesome. I haven't seen how Ryuk and other Shinigami look, but I heard he/they'll be CG'ed, which could be good or bad depending..though the scenes with the apple are done pretty well, so I have hope. 3nodding whee

Saw a trailer with Ryuk in it. He's done amazingly well, which is awesome. And his voice really fits the character.
