Okay, so I'm a fan of playlist.com, but their new player is incompatible with Gaia in that you can only see two songs at a time, and changing the "size" of the player makes no difference in this. So to make a player like the one on my profile (same color, size, auto-play on visit, auto-shuffle) follow the step-by-step directions. Note that the links are unintentional; I suggest that you just highlight and copy. If you want one of my playlists, please ask me or Sandrew26 first.

1. Create a playlist with nearly any website that will provide you with a code to share your playlist (I use playlist.com)

2. Use their "get code" thing to get the link to your player. If you're using playlist.com, it should look similar to this (this is my playlist; please ask if you would like to borrow):

http://www.profileplaylist.net/mc/mp3player_new.swf?config=http://www.profileplaylist.net/ext/pc/config_black_shuffle.xml&mywidth=195&myheight=190&playlist_url=http://www.profileplaylist.net/loadplaylist.php?playlist=39863430&t=1233183810

3. Remove all of the code EXCEPT the bit at the end (in bold above) that is RIGHT AFTER "playlist_url=". It should look similar to this:

http://www.profileplaylist.net/loadplaylist.php?playlist=39863430&t=1233183810

4. If you have the code for any playlist skin, this is where you use it (make sure it has "playlist_url=" at the end of the code). The skin I am using will let you see 5 songs at once (vs. 2), pause, skip, adjust volume, and change the point you are at in the current song. Unfortunately you will have to live with the color and auto-shuffle; I don't have the code to change those. The code for the skin I use is below:

http://www.greatprofilemusic.com/mc/mp3player-othersite.swf?config=http://www.greatprofilemusic.com/mc/config/config_regular_shuffle.xml&mywidth=195&myheight=190&playlist_url=

5. To finish, take the part after "playlist_url=" from the code you were given by your playlist site (step 3), and paste it at the end of the playlist skin I have provided (step 4). An example of the finished product is below, with the playlist url (step 3) in bold (don't bold it when you actually do it, lol) (I made this for Sandrew26; it's rock):

http://www.greatprofilemusic.com/mc/mp3player-othersite.swf?config=http://www.greatprofilemusic.com/mc/config/config_regular_shuffle.xml&mywidth=195&myheight=190&playlist_url=http://www.profileplaylist.net/loadplaylist.php?playlist=57996375&t=1233180986

6. Log on to your Gaia account, and go to "My Profile" (you should see your profile). In the upper right-hand corner should be an option that says "Edit My Profile Layout". Click it, and an editing toolbox should pop up. Click on "Content", then " Media". This will work in the "Media" window ONLY! It WILL NOT work in the "My Playlist" window! Okay, so once you have created a new "Media" window (it should appear in the upper-left corner of your profile), close the "content" window and click "edit" on the "Media" window. In the thing that pops up, there should be a field titled "URL"- paste in the code you have made (step 5) here.

7. "Save" your changes, then choose "View". Your page will refresh, and you will be able to see the new music player! If when your page refreshes you see only a gray box where the player should be, just wait about ten seconds then refresh again. If you cannot 'get it to work', pm me and I'll help you out.

8. If you are comfortable with code, you can change the size of the player by editing "&mywidth=195&myheight=190". Just replace the 195 and 190 for width and height, respectively, with a new size. I'm not a programmer (I tried C++, and couldn't get very far), but I think that those are the number of pixels. Disclaimer: if you cannot change the size, don't feel bad. This method of changing the size never seems to work for me.

Okay, my skin has been taken down, but this guide will still show you how to take care of your own skin. Just follow the instructions =).

Note: I attempted to enlarge my player by keeping the ratio of the sides the same (I just doubled them), and it did not change size.

I am going to move this to the Chatterbox subforum because it's not necessarily applicable to the guild in any other way.

I recently made a playlist for my profile using playlist.com...

playlist.com must've changed or something, because now when you get your code it gives you the option to make a code for Gaia that you can easily insert in your "Media" and it works fine.
