The last haul had gone over rather well, if he did say so himself!

Times were hard, especially with winter breathing down their necks. The worst was over and warmth was slowly creeping back into the days, but there was still an uncomfortable n** in the air.

But poor No Crossing hadn't made it. The usually golly thief had dim eyes and an grim frown tight across his beak as he perched high in the rafters of the train station. The chick hardly stood a chance and had been hatched rather sickly in the first place. Spence must of been a mess after loosing the unfortunate youngster.

At least what he had managed to swipe from that snooty tea-maker was enough to get a good bit of seed for the young charges that Spencer's Gifts often watched over. He ought to be able to dish out some to a few of the poor families this time, too.

He sat on his paws, mind deep in thought, and almost completely oblivious to his surroundings.

Anna idly wandered through the train station, having randomly woken up in that strange window-like loft again, with tons of seeds and valuables to spare. Well, she might as well sell them off right? She didn't really need them all, since most of it was really good food, and a lot of people were suffering. Of course the usual 'snobs' weren't, but who cared about their welfare? It was the lower class Anna always tried to support.

And if she just so happened to occasionally wake up after a long nap in that loft with all the pretty things in it and all the good food and strange, but pretty smells, it was all the more advantageous for her and the general public. She wondered how others were doing as far as Winter went. She seemed to be doing well, apparently, though for some strange reason she couldn't remember what happened while she napped.....Oh well. As long as she was surviving, she supposed. She seemed happy anyways. Swooping up to her hidey-hole in the high rafters of the train station, where she was keeping the seeds, fruits, and food in general that she'd aquired mysteriously, but found someone close to it. Ah well, maybe she could ask him if he needed it?

Swooping up to circle once, then twice gracefully, she weaved through the rafters until she came to perch next to the guy she didn't know. He looked like an honest sort. A little depressing and grim though, at the moment. Maybe she could cheer him up? She was a songstress afterall. What good was her voice if she couldn't keep the flock's spirit high? Nudging him gently with her wing, she smiled at him and cocked her head, her feathers shivering a little from the slight chill. Yeah. It was definately warmer up in that little window loft.

"Hey there big guy, why so glum? I'm Anna, but some people call me Annie. Dunno why, but it's catchy anyways. I haven't seen you round before, how have I missed you? I try to make a point of knowing all the good people of the flock that aren't high-class snobs that don't work for what they get. Hey....um....I dunno if this'll make your day a little better or not, but I have an excess of fruits, seeds, some herbs, and even some bread. I have what I need for myself to survive somewhere else, but you're sitting very near the large extra amount. You know anybody you could share it with and take it off my hands for me?" she chirruped, her light and airy voice happy and sweet, and completely devoid of any hint of a lie or false offer. She was just so sincere and trusting. It was just who she was. While waiting for his answer, she began to hum something cheerful and lively to herself, bobbing along happily with the random tune.

The male couldn't help but to start as Anna nudged him gently with her wing and at first he thought it might be Nintendo, or another from their jolly little band of thieves, but upon tilting his head to see the one who had surprised him, he found a lovely young female that he sort of recognized...

Only he couldn't quite put a talon on it.

Wasn't she of a higher class?

If not, a lower class that he had not associated much with?

Regardless, her words were brisk and cheerful, quite the opposite of Merry's current bleak mood, and he could only appreciate the happiness she had and he ought to have. He couldn't help but to replace the grim frown on his beak with a light and somewhat mysterious smile as he watched the happy antics of the lovely Anna.

"Sorry, dear, merely focusing on the bleak winter past. Anna is a lovely name only fitting for such a lovely pidge." He cooed softly as he dipped his head to his chest to preen a few feathers that had been blown askew by the chilly wind.

"I'm surprised you don't know me, or I you. The name is Merry, miss, and Nintendo Game Cube and I make it a point to know all those on our side of the tracks. I don't know how we'd overlook a pretty thing like yourself." And he fell into silence as he considered the offer that she made. If she was of the poor variety and did not associate with the high-class rabble, how could she come across so much food.

"I certainly do... You see, there is a friend of mine who minds and cares for the unfortunate youth of our flock. We just recently lost a little one, too, no thanks to the cold and small amounts of readily available food. I'm sure Spence could use some to feed to the chicks and fledglings."

Anna trilled happily as he called her pretty, lavishing her with compliments throughout his little speech. She blushed and cocked her head at him, shrugging her wings and ruffling her own feathers a little just for the fun of it. It was nice to feel wind through your wing-feathers, even if you had to do it yourself.

"Well, Master Merry, I do have an odd habit of popping in and out of places when I'm not supposed to. Most people miss me the majority of the time. But I don't mind. I help in little ways here and there, so it makes me happy. Half the time I don't even know what I do with my time," she laughed at herself, making it more of a joke than something serious, even if that was the case. She really did worry about herself sometimes. But at the very least, at least he was accepting her offer. She'd rather the food go to little one's that needed it than to hoard it herself. She was sad to hear about the little one dying though, and her happy mood deflated a bit. Pulling her wings in closer to herself, she frowned, looking at Merry.

"How old was the little one? Oh, I wish I could've helped.....being an Entertainer doesn't bring in huge amounts, but it helps a little. If there's anything I can do, Merry....." she cooed softly, feeling more than a little upset that she always woke up in that warm, green-house like nest by the window, all pretty and proper and with a little adjoining room with soft stones and other scraps of pretty things on the floor to work in. She thought it looked like a tearoom, but she wasn't so sure all the time. It smelled nice though in that little extra room, and whoever owned it had nice taste in things, even if Anna never took those things unless they were edible. She'd left whoever lived there a fair large amount left to keep though. Perhaps they had friends that needed it too?

"Spence? For some reason the name seems familiar, but I can't say I know him. Maybe someone I know does....." she cooed just as soft, her head suddenly hurting her immensely and she put her wing up to it and her other went to Merry's shoulder as she steadied herself. What was wrong with her? She'd been getting these horrible headaches more and more often lately. Oh, if only she knew what they meant.

"Oh.....excuse me....I get these strange dizzy spells sometimes....." she mumbled.

"'Eadaches? S'not a good sign, missus." He cooed as he provided her with some stability to keep her standing throughout the pain waves that washed over her being. She certainly was a curious one and he was still trying to make sense of the fact that even he and Nintendo might of missed someone on their side.

"Ah, the lil' scamp... Wasn't much more than a fluff. Ain't even a fledgling yet, rest 'is soul." He found himself feeling much more downtrodden, but was thankful for Anna's appearance. Her merely being there made him feel at least a little bit better. He felt obliged to entertain, as he did with all friends and acquaintances, which gave him little time for moping.

"If you do wish to lend a claw, though, seek out Spence when you have time or food to volunteer. I know he'll be thankful for the help and company, the old bird. He takes his work very seriously, which is just what we need for the young ones at times like these."
