Without Engels, Marx can become a bit dry and abstract, especially in Capital. I'm reading volume one and it takes about two chapters before my eyes begin to burn because I've had to re-read some points several times to grasp what Marx is getting at in his descriptions of the workings of exchange value. I understand relative value at this point but, it's taken months to get as far in it to that point when I finished with considerable pleasure Origin of the Family in less time. I think that I like Engels writing style better than Marx in some situations even though, both had a tremendous amount of intelligence and insight when they wrote. confused
