 Jamie hummed to himself as he padded past a clump of flowers, a small bounce in each step. The feathers on his shoulders twitched lightly as he remembered how he got to where he was now. Again, he had been trying to fly. Many helixes in the East could, so why not he? Unfortunately, his wings were stunted and they were no good for flight. That didn't deter him, though, and he had spent hours jumping around like a mad helix, his small wing feathers flapping slightly with each leap. Before he knew it, he was in the Neutral lands.
He smiled softly as he looked around, noting the long river that he saw between the trees. Travelers had often said that there was a bridge over the river, but he had yet to see it and the thought of it spurred him on. Sure, he was still dissapointed that his feathers seemed to be useless but those thoughts were pushed to the back of his mind with all the new sights, sounds, and scents nearby. His ear cocked, his silver earring flashing, and he lifted his tail before taking a tentative sniff of the air. It seemed like something was burning, and he looked around cautiously. He was in a forest and had no idea how large it was. Apparently, something was burning neaby. Great. His tail stiffened and he tensed, ready to dart to safety as soon as he knew which way the flames were coming from.

Hikaru was currently padding through a forest nearby, sticking near the side of a river, hoping it could put out the little fires her paws created. Just above her a little bird chirped. It swooped down and flew around her head a few times, then headed farther inland away from the water. For a moment, Hikaru forgot about the flames that engulfed her legs, and stepped over a bush. It instantly caught on fire. She sniffed the air and jumped back toward the water.
She looked around frantically for something that could help her. She could not get the water herself. Her flames could not be distinguished, yet they caused water to turn to steam almost instantly. A new scent reached her nose, her ears twitching. "Hello? Is anybody there? I need help putting out a small bush caught on fire."

Jamie jumped, startled, when he heard a voice nearby. It was the last thing he expected, since he never knew animls to just standy by when the scent of fire was rising. "Where are you?" he called. If the fire hadn't spread that much yet, he was sure that trying to put it out would be the best option. He followed the scent of smoke, squinting his eyes against the thick air, pawing nervously at the floor. He reached a bend in the trees and suddenly saw the flaming bush. His feathers flapped in agitation as he tried to scan the area. At first, he could not see Hikaru, for her blazing paws and crimson fur made it so that she blended with the burning bush. He snorted in distaste, thinking that whoever had called for help had abandoned the area, before rushing to the river. He leaped in, soaking himself, and scrambled out almost right after, shaking his heavy fur near the blackening plant. Although the hissing of burning water could be heard, the fire was still too large for his attempt to be effective and he whined. He retured to the river, thankful that it was so close, and started batting the water with his paws towards the bush behind him, using his tail every once in a while.
