Do some field research!

Here you can post meaningful Albert Einstein quotes.

Just go to Google, Blackle, Yahoo! or a search engine of your choice, and post some Einstein quotes or maybe some interesting facts about him. Other scientists are welcome, too!

My absolute favorite Einstein quote is, "Those who have never made mistakes have never tried anything new." Some of my other favorites are, (When asked to describe a radio) "You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat," "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen," and one that I can't recall off of the top of my head. This one was said to have been hanging on a plaque on one of his walls at Cambrige, "It is better to remain silent and look a fool than to speak and prove it."

"Only 2 things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe."
I've tried to get some clarity on this one (as you know it's on the homepage); does the original quote end with "the universe" or "the former"? ...I do believe it's "the former" But I do see both.

The version I gave was from a museum exhibit detailing the life of ol' Al (horrible family life, but apparently had some musical talent), and that's the one I've found most often.

I know...two right now that isn't the obvious e = mcsquared jibble.

Anyway

"The soup is too hot" Einsteins first words at 4 years old. (or soI have read)

"Religion without science is blind, science without religion is lame"
I have a few theories as to what this means, I.e, it's stupid to blindly beleive in something with no proof, and science would have little to prove without beleif.
I think. But please let me knwo what you guys think on this matter.

I'm pretty sure it's "the former" not "the universe"

I recently picked up a book at my local Barns n Noble called "Einstein and Buddha the Parallel Sayings." it shows similarities in the quotes of Einstein and quotes from Buddha. I found it amazing that two very different people from very different backgrounds, and who have so many different views on the workings of the universe came to such similar ideas. To me, I just see two very bright individuals looking at the world objectivly and finding, what is simply, the truth. I recommend giving it a look through if you get the chance

I don't know that much about Einstein or his quotes, but I can explain E=MC^2. heart

Since it's still on the topic of Einstein, though...
He didn't believe at first that the universe wasn't static.

One of his biggest mistakes ever.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Logic is limitied, while creativity knows no bounds."

Or something along those lines... Anyways, the guy was truly magnificent. Rest in peace, you crazy haired baffoon.

i dont know exactly who said this, but i want to say it was Einstein. Who ever it is, it's still inspiring.

"A human being... experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - A kind of optical illusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty"

Also on that note, i have this quote

"I am not sure
that reality is real
That is why this world seems the world it is
But if that is so, how dare I feel
that dreams are no more than dreams"

I have a really simple one:
"God does not play dice."
It was my yearbook quote, and I wrote it on the back of my door with a giant felt-tip pen.
