Brag here about any solos you have.
Mine's not really anything to brag about.... I'm the swing-flag soloist. I do about 5 counts of work to make the "third song transition smoothly to the 4th." Ah, well. It's something, I guess. sweatdrop

I had a solo in our second song, but since we lost one girl, I can't do it (even number now, and everyone needs a partner. Solution? Me and another girl are doing a duet and we get to do a toss (it's a swing song). It's great xd .

well, at the begining of the show there are 6 in the VERY front of the field.
im one of the six AND im only a sophomore! ^.^
oh. im sure tigerishdragon is going to be bragging about her toss.
okay. the real story: the coach read out drill spot numbers and asked "who can toss the highest?" and it was sara. thats why she got it. the coach doesnt love her or anything.
however, the coach loves me. she acutally listened to my opinion on which flags to use in the show. AND she has talked to me about being captain my senior year. i'm special-er.

At the end of our show, our group of 10 splits in to two groups of 5. The first group continues to use flags, and the only freshman on the team is in that group. (I'm so proud of her!) The second group uses T-poles. Not quite sure which is harder, but I will say the 5 who stay on flags were carefully selected. Both captians (me), the freshie, and two others who are very good. biggrin

I have a solo this year and I had a solo last year as well. Last years solo was my favorite. I danced around the field for a couple of sets... and then it turned into a duet and (-i love guy guard-) one of our guy guard met me in the middle and we did the lift from Dirty Dancing in the middle of a band pass-through. OmG I loved that solo...
This year I don't like it as much, I have part of a solo just dancing and the second half is with a swing flag during a pic solo. I'm trying to push my instructor to let me and adam do the lift again and make it a guard tradition. I <3 that lift. We tried it to the music today at our homecoming pep rally, but couldn't do it on field b/c it was muddy and we didn't march. Hope I get to do it -sqwee-

LAST YEAR our feature was so cool (pirates of the carribean moosic) It was my first year colorguard and i loved it We were divided into 3 groups: Middies Pirates Goddesses (i was that cos i was new)
Anyways, The middies and the pirates had a flag fights like they swing toward legs and they'd jump nd stuff It looked so good. eek And then one of the middies fell over and the music got slow so they had people pick her up and put her up above their head it was the coolest show. i loved it.

ninja I have a solo in our second song! It is very pretty and I am very proud of it... It is around 64 counts I believe! The flag is a shimmery pink and looks sooo pretty under the lights! I am always so nervous that I am going to drop my tosses though... but I haven't yet!

I have a solo that accuentuates (sp?) both a clarinet solo and a french horn solo. Gotta love the transition cover ups. Another spiffy thing I do, which isn't really a solo, but it's still cool. We have a 10 foot tall 4 by 4 which I lift up and take out onto the field where one of the guys and I hold it while one of our girls climbs it. And she's just a fishie...I'm so proud of her for it. Granted, she got it because she only weighs about102 lbs, but that doesn't mean that I'm not proud of her. I mean hell, I know I wouldn't do it.

Our show this year has no solos. =( I've had solos every year, though. Frosh year it was just a quick little flag transition, soph year it was running around as the dancing statue of liberty with my torch-made-of-a-chair-leg (Very funny, actually. Well, to me) Junior year it was a solo with a giant wooden propellor (airplane show). I did a retarded cartwheel. Senior year it was throwing a hilt 6 as the band circled in tighter and tighter and I caught on the last note. Very spiffy, except I have sabre. Yeah, this is totally unnecessary info, so its in white.

Alright, last WG season I had a sabre duet in our show (Defying Gravity from Wicked), we tossed a double first, then a single, and finished it off with a quad, which was an accomplishment since I was an eighth grader and she was a seventh. Then at the end I had a flag solo, it was pretty fun. Supposable I was the Wicked Witch of the West and the people of Oz (the rest of the guard) was running in a circle around me as I spun, flags up in the air at an angle, then they put the flags down and as I tossed a double they all slid to the ground and supposable I'd killed them.
This year I was in a group of six featured dancers (till I pulled a muscle in the cold and poor streatch...) Started off with going into the splits and then a back arch, pushthrough second, back roll, split roll to the back, stand and pose.

Started off with going into the splits and then a back arch, pushthrough second, back roll, split roll to the back, stand and pose. Wow O.O I wish our instructor would coreograph something like that for my solo. An update on my solo. No lift this year unless we're doing a stand still and need the visual score. Instead they extended my solo. I now run off field after I'm done the first half and come back on with a swing flag to dance around during a piccolo solo. I'm still searching for ways to make it really awesome before next weekends championships. Any suggestions?
