User ImageSnowday was walking along the misty train tracks, which were empty of travel on Friday mornings. He had been very antisocial over the past few months due to an argument. It was rather silly that he got in a fight with a thief, even though he himself was on almost the low end of the economy. It's true his job paid poorly, especially because there were no hatchlings in Half Price's flock. Nonetheless, Snowday had left his nest today to stretch his wings and eyes. He couldn't live alone anymore but he was also afraid to speak to the other pidge.

The tracks were lined with little items of interest. From tickets to coins and even candies: the train tracks seemed to be a scavenger's dream come true today. Snowday was surprised no one was here to take all this for themselves. Perhaps the mist covered it all up. Before long Snowday realized he was mistaken, there was a bright white pidge on the tracks nearby him. Snowday didn't know if he should say hello but he did anyway, a little nervously. "Good morning. It's a beautiful day, a little misty down here but it's a beautiful day still."

The white pidge was busy using his beak to pull at something. Part of it was under the tracks. It was yellow and... Very shiny. He frustratedly tugging at it, like he was pulling at a metallic worm. He seemed to be too distracted with his gold chain to make conversation.

Snowday figured that the other pidge needed some help. First he tried lifting the track from a far. Obviously it was too heavy. He got up close and tried digging some dirt out from under it. "Oh man that's a tight fit! The trains must have squeezed it down.," he said.

"You're telling me." He grunted before pulling at it again. It was a little looser with the dirt dug out from under it. It was obviously annoying him. He was puling at it every which way and it would not come out. He even tried grabbing it with his feet and flapping into the air. He only fell. Once he got back up he stamped his foot in frustration.

Whatever the thing was it must have been made to last. After all the tugging it hadn't bent or gotten scratched up. "Maybe you could... no. Um well, I honestly don't know," he said confused. He kicked the thing lightly. Surely two grown males like themselves should be able to pull out the chain. "Sorry, I'm not much of a help. It really does look looser then it is from fare away," he sighed. "I'm Snowday," he said looking down humbly.

"The Royal Dragon." He kept pulling at it. He needed to get it. He'd get soo much food for something so shiny and so pretty. And he was really very hungry. He kept pulling and pulling at the gold chain until, suddenly, it popped out and he fell backwards. Royal got up and shook himself off, getting off most of the dirt and dust which had gotten on his feathers. He put down the chain and held it in his foot, so he could speak. "Thank you for digging under it, Snowday..."

"Hey no big deal. You probably could have gotten it yourself," Snowday said. "I bet that you'll get paid big for that. Yah know sometimes I think I should give up my job and start scavenging. With the flock the way it is there's no way to get to the top. And if I ever did make it big I'd have no respect. I think I would leave and join Happy Hour if given the chance. This flock is helpless," he said. Then he smacked his wing to his forehead. "Dear I've trailed off! I've been in the nest too long I guess. Well, what do you think about this flock?" He felt a bad for talking so depressively to a stranger.

Dragon chuckled a little. "It's got a pretty sorry system but, it's home... What side of the tracks are you from, I've never seen you before." He seemed curious, but as he said it, his grip on the chain tightened. It would fetch him quite a bit.. But, it would also fetch someone else quite a bit...

"Well, it's not home to me. My family was middle class from a different flock. When I was old enough I came to this flock seeing that it needed a nanny. Sadly there's no middle class here. So I guess I'm quickly becoming lower class," Snowday said. "I'm no threat to you. I'd make a terrible thief. So what's your story, how'd you came to call this place home?"

Dragon shrugged. "I was born here." He replied simply. "You still haven't told me which side you're living on..." He commented, warily. Though the bird said he was becoming lower class, he wondered if people on the other side even knew what lower class was about... Especially, since he'd lived in another nest. This guys was probably pretty well-off. Like one of those teamakers...

"The uperclass's side as of now," Snowday said, a bit ashamed because he knew what the lower class thought of the upper class and vice versa.
He knew his life wasn't as though as some pidge's but he still didn't like being like being hated.

Dragon made a face. "Opposite side, huh? So when do you get your tea?" It was a rude tone, and a mean comment, but Dragon had only ever met one nice pidge on that side of the tracks...

"The day hell freezes over," Snowday replied. "I never did like tea. But you're right to hate me I presume. Though it isn't my fault that I am what I am. Unless being born into the wrong family is a sin." He tried to keep his own tone from changing, but a bit of anger built up inside him. "I would do whatever it takes to prove that I'm not a sob; It wouldn't do a thing though. Anger among the classes is unavoidable. I just wish that we weren't so segregated."

Snowday's anger dulled down and he went back to remorse. He ad thought of a plan to clear his conscious a few days ago. He could move to Happy Hour's and become and inventor. In his mind he new running away wouldn't solve a thing though. What else could he do?

"How do you think we could fix this flock and bring the classes together?" he asked, though he was afraid it might be hopeless.

Royal did not hate Snowday. He was outraged by the division he and his neighbors were forced to endure. He took his anger out on the rich. "Teamakers would have to work for their food, for one thing. And rich pidges shouldn't be taking food they don't need! Don't you and your friends know we're starving over here!?!" He demanded, angrily. "Some of our chicks don't grow anymore, they're so malnourished... And, you guys have stores of food in reserve! In reserve for what?! As if you'll ever run out! And you can't deny it!" Dragon flared his wings, partially out of anger, and paartially to shut down any retort that Snowday personally did not have such reserves. "I don't care if you're the poorer of that side, you look like you get at least a meal every other day. Hell, you probably have one everyday!!"

He was breathing hard, his anger working him harder than his food necessarily gave him the energy for. How could this pidge try to justify himself? It wasn't that he was born in the wrong family or lived there that really made Dragon mad, anyhow... It was that pidge were on the brink of death because of hunger or sickness on this side, chicks grew up in squalor, and families could hardly scratch out an existence... Yet, no one- Snowday included- who lived on the influential side of the tracks... The side which had the resources to do something... No one did anything about it! It was like their fellow flockmates were just n undesirable topic! They died, and those who could do something turned a blind eye as they grew fat! It was an outrage!

"Pidge on your side have the food, you have the pretty things, you have the voice! Half Price would listen to teamakers! They're his own kind! Yet, you continue to ignore us. You continue to turn a blind eye. You only think of yourselves! And anyone with a conscience leaves, and is told not to talk about us because that would be a 'shameful' thing for people to find out about our flock!" Dragon glared at Snowday, "You wish we weren't so segregated? They won't listen to us. They only want to ignore us. They only listen to people on their side of the tracks. People they accept..." His voice grew slower, more challenging and less anger-filled. "If you wish so goddam hard that there wasn't anger between the classes, that we weren't so segregated... If you want to know a solution so badly... Why don't you say something? They accept you enough to care for their chicks... And that's a hell of a lot more than they'd accept me or anyone from this side."

(I italicized the parts where he speaks... So there's less confusion. Sorry this took so long.)

"I've tried time and time again to talk to Half Price. But he hides behind his secretaries who all say the same thing. "Half Price appriciates your concern, and assures you that your case is not uncommon. Your comments have been taken on board, and will be brought to attention in our next boardmeeting."." Snowday quoted. His voiced raised again, matching Royal, out of instinct.
"They don't give a damn about lower class. Hell, they don't gave a damn about upper class! All Half Price does is blindly leads this flock to damnation. He's too stuck up to realize this flock needs help. And to make sure we don't get help, it's true, we can't even speak of his flock to outsiders. Anything I do cannot help. No one is willing to help. Most upper class are happy where they are so they won't allow change."
Snowday was pumped just like when he first joined this flock and Nintendo publicly harassed him. He'd never forget that day because it caused him to wish to help produce change.
"This flock's only hope is if Half Price is overthrown. Not that that's a possibility."
