||τhε phαnτσm ε⌡εmεnτ|| Your travels have brought you finally to a seemingly peaceful land, its towering metropolises heavily guarded by lush, verdant forests of skyscraping trees, the forest dissected here and there with calm rivers and scenic dirt roads. Wildlife grace its lands with their haunting presence, moving silently and swiftly through the trees, almost unfazed by the elementalist presences in their forests. The countryside crescendoes with a towering mountain in the centre of the land, half eternally draped in shadow as the other half is plunged in light, and curious, skeptical whispers about the rumours of going-ons there seem to be on everyone's lips. The people of this country seem nice enough, but something seems... wrong about them, a bit off. Their vocabulary when they speak, the way in which they move, the way their shadow doesn't seem to quite mirror their motions. In fact, all the light and all the shadows in the country seem to quiver, to tremble, as though alive, brimming with power. Funeral processions are common sights in this country, but instead of tears and sorrow, the deceased are met with joy and celebration on their way to their final resting place, their path emblazoned with vibrant colour, petals of exotic flowers are thrown and brilliant costumes of fine silk and feathers line the path to the cemetery. Deep spiritual power seems to run through the country, not only in every ornate temple scattered about the land, but also in every inhabitant, in every living thing here. It ripples through the air. The leaves on the trees shudder with life. They do not sway; they dance. To say the land was haunted wouldn't be too far from the truth... ...You're in Phantom country now. the almighty t a b l e;; introduction||element||members||rules||abilities||banner||frequentlyaskedquestions||reserved||reserved||reserved

||τhε ε⌡εmεnτ|| Firstly, allow me to say welcome to the Phantom element! I am .Vindicated.Of.Sanity., current acting Master of the Phantom element, but you may call me Vi. Throughout the next few posts, I'll run you through everything you need to know about us. Beyond that, well, the rest is up to you wink what we are In the past, there has been much heated debate over what the Phantom element is. By definition, we are the element that results when you mix darkness and light. We are the dividing line between those two elements, and in being both yet neither, we become something more. We are separate from both, a mixture of the two. Not red, not blue, but purple. Generally we are seen as the element of balance; being formed of complete, nullifying opposites takes a very precarious act of balance that requires a lot of patience and practice to maintain. By being what we are, polar opposites of darkness and light fused together, this allows our abilities to influence things not entirely of this plane; us Phantom elementalists, we interface with the spirit world. The Phantom element is synonymous with harmony. We are the gatekeepers, the liaison to the spirit world. This spirit energy is available to us wherever and whenever, assuming the souls of the departed are near us, once an elementalist has earned their trust. Some spirits even perform soul-bonding-- but, I am getting ahead of myself. In any case, this vast tap of energy is at our complete disposal. Once an elementalist is able to channel the power through their body, they are able to manipulate it outside of themselves, form weapons or defenses from it. This channelled energy manifests as a silver fluid, rippling and shimmering under the elementalist's control until something solid, a tangible form, is forged from it. That is to say, it will flow like restless quicksilver trapped in a bubble between the controller's hands until it is willed to do otherwise. A Phantom elementalist must absolutely be very in-tune with their spiritual side, with their soul. It is through the soul that elementalists connect with the spirit energy, and if one cannot communicate with their own soul, they will not be able to reach through it. Meditation is a common, ritual practice across the country. Training sessions are rigorous, as a Phantom elementalist must be able to channel the energy through their soul and into this realm while still being alert to things happening before them; an elementalist is of no use dead. Phantom elementalists are strong of mind and quick on their feet, spiritual and of a good soul. The bloodthirsty and power-hungry are better suited elsewhere; in fact, the souls will and have been known to chase out those they do not deem as worthy and true. A good trait to have as a Phantom elementalist is not easily creeped out; interacting with souls of the dead is a little strange at the beginning, but it's not so weird after you get used to it! Whatever your final decision, it is with our best wishes that you are sent onward to your destiny. May the spirits guide you home. the almighty t a b l e;; introduction||element||members||rules||abilities||banner||frequentlyaskedquestions||reserved||reserved||reserved

||τhε mεmßεΓs|| xx_obey-me .Vindicated.Of.Sanity.I am a sixteen year old girl living in Canada, timezone -8. I spend my time playing guitar, listening to music, designing clothes, being with friends, roleplaying, cooking, and procrastinating. In five words, I would describe myself as passionate, dramatic, obsessive, inconsistent, and a romantic. Also maybe a scientist. I talk way too much about my passions and interests. My favourite bands are Dir en Grey, Cradle of Filth, Coldplay, Imogen Heap, Moi Dix Mois, Muse, Paramore, Dimmu Borgir, Rise Against, System of a Down, Three Days Grace, Children of Bodom, as well as instrumental pieces of any sort... I like a variety. Talk music to me, baby. teach-me_xx No Apprentices as of yet! Wanna be one? I'll be responsible for images and such, though. This is an IRL bio, not your RPC! There will be time for those later :3 [oo7.] Avoid quoting at all costs, and do not construct precarious Quote Towers. ||τhε pσwεrs|| As in anything, " practice makes perfect." The same goes for your Phantom training. It takes a great amount of concentration to break through the barrier into the soul world, and even more to bend the energy to your will. Once you have made contact with the other world, chances are the spirits will not trust you, will be wary of you. If you can prove yourself to them, they will lend themselves to you more easily. From there you can only grow. Beginners will only just be getting the hang of contacting, of drawing energy through their bodies and into our world. Slowly they will be able to draw it out externally and make basic weapons, and fortify existing ones with the spirit energy. Combat will be drilled at this stage; a great Phantom elementalist must be able to draw on these powers in the heat and pressure of battle. As soon as this is solid, we move on to the more interesting subjects. Intermediate apprentices will start to really interact with the spirits. It is at this stage that we start in on possessions- oh, did I forget to mention this? Anyway, we start to draw whole souls into our bodies, drawing on the strengths they possessed in life to supplement the elementalist's own natural talents and strong points. For example, a soul with a background in acrobatics, martial arts or parkour will perhaps enhance an elementalist's speed and agility, whereas a soul that had been intelligent in life may help give the elementalist clearer thought and more craftiness to outsmart the opponent. It'll be messy at first, you can count on it. These souls can be used in many different ways, and it is for an elementalist to find their style and be able to pick out the souls that will aid them the most. Your powers are increased and sharpened in this stage, making you a force to be reckoned with. Masters and especially skilled apprentices hold the top tier of the abilities available to Phantom students, all of which require years of concentration, meditation and practice. Many can levitate themselves or others using their abilities, others can physically move from the real world to the spirit world and back, while others still can adopt Phantomlike attributes; intangibility, invisibility, etcetera. The powers at this high a level are virtually limitless, limited only by the Master theirself. There has even been gossip of some old Masters up on the Grand Mountain, where the energy concentration is greatest and barrier strength weakest, experimenting with the full extent of their powers, whisperings of secret attempts to imbue a corpse with a soul, to reanimate the body-- but, ah, I know nothing of this. The most coveted ability is soul-bonding, when a Master chooses a spirit (or sometimes the spirit chooses you), just one, to meld into the soul. The spirit follows the elementalist everywhere, though usually invisibly and imperceptibly. It is a strange bond, one forged of devotion and sacrifice. Upon bonding souls, the elementalist can only draw power from that one soul, and the soul's greatest desire is to keep fuelling its elementalist with all the energy he or she requires. The bond transcends the spiritual, it is the merging of two souls into one body, the truest union. Not every Master can do it, many choose not to or have not found the right soul. Upon the elementalist's death, both spirits disappear- to where, no one knows. This element provides much opportunity for experimentation and personal growth. It relies heavily on your own creativity and ability to think on-the-run. Phantom is not merely an element in which to dabble; it is a lifestyle, a devotion. We are the servants of the dead, the vessels of their energies. It is an experience unlike any other element, the most unusual, unique and with the most potential. the almighty t a b l e;; introduction||element||members||rules||abilities||banner||frequentlyaskedquestions||reserved||reserved||reserved

||τhε ƒrεφµεnτ⌡¥ αskεd φµεsτiσns|| FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions Help me expand- PM me your questions! Q:: What is the Phantom Element?A:: In a nutshell, the Phantom element is a mixture of the dark and light elements, which gives us our own unique powers to harness spirit energy and interact in both their world and ours. I highly suggest you read the second post in order to fully understand why that is. Q:: How do I apply to be an apprentice?A:: Read the Rules section, and then PM me :3 Q:: How do I become a Master?/ How do I become a Master quickly?A:: My best advice would be to read ZOMGSumi's thread on becoming a Master. I would also like to remind you that it doesn't happen overnight, that you will only become a Master if you put time in and work hard at it. There really is no other way to 'fast-track' the process than by being active and roleplaying with us. Q:: What do I do here?A:: You roleplay with us. What's happening is basically you are an apprentice in this unique element and I am the Master who is to train you in the art. You will learn, gain skills, battle and spar and become competent in the element, eventually to move on to Master or other high-ranking individual someday. Also, being active in the rest of the guild is a good idea, too. The Roleplay subforum is a good place to start if you want to roleplay outside the element, or if you're new at this and would like to learn. the almighty t a b l e;; introduction||element||members||rules||abilities||banner||frequentlyaskedquestions||reserved||reserved||reserved
