In a time when the world was new and the plethora of races had not yet discovered each other there were a large group of ghastly goblins. They were creatures of small stature and demonic features. There skin was a shade of olive green and wrinkled creases at every joint on their body. Over sized feet and tiny hands, often clumsy but deceitfully clever beings.
They had been comfortably residing in a cave that was carved out of a hill that was shaped like the break of a tidal wave. It was a dismally dark and moist cavern. The soil was a deep red with orange clumps from the rich terrain of the fields. The softness of the soil made it easy to maneuver the cave to fit the many numbers within.
Further into the earth the tender soil turned into dark black slabs of marble. Jagged icicles encroached the ceiling and created multiple pools of aquamarine blue water. This was the area where they bathed and designated their drinking water. Along the edges of the enclosure grew batches of mold which the goblins lived off of.
It is a dark existence of life, but they were content with their surroundings. Most of their time was spent wielding their expertise in making armor and lethal weapons. Much of the black marble in the caves were diligently molded into daggers and swords. Having mastered this mineral for all its worth they continue to dig further into unearthing stones and jewels to manipulate.
One of the most precious materials they discovered, was a stone that had powers beyond their knowledge. It was found in the center of a ash tone rock and when broken through glowed a bright purple light. A goblin ventured to touch the jewel and barely had the tip of his finger grazed it, when he fell back to the ground and turned to a stone statue. It was a secret weapon to which the goblins planned to keep hidden from all other beings.
The entrance to the cave has been camouflaged with dirt and surrounded by a band of poisonous thorns that would wrap around anyone who stepped in its circle. Travelers have passed the hill never knowing what lied beneath their path below...
