Squad 12 : Join Requests In order to become a part of Squad 12, you, as the applicant, must abide the guidelines that are provided in order for your application to qualify. If by all means, you decide not to read the guidelines and merely post your application as just your profile and a sample roleplay, I will simply deny it. If you so wish to be accepted, however, you would take a moment to read the guidelines to making an application and depending on how well it is, you will be accepted. GuidelinesThe first thing you need to put in your application is your personal response to the following series of questions. These questions are placed not only to see how you would respond to them, but also to test your commitment to remaining in this squad. As captain, my sole duty is to keep my members not only active, but dedicated to building this squad in any way possible. 1) As a member of Squad 12, what can you do to help improve the squad? 2) What inspired you to join this squad? Any references? 3) If you were to be given the assignment to conduct research on a new product, would you prefer to work alone or gather a group to work on it? 4) An emergency break-in has occurred and the intruder is out to steal the research information of a new form of a zanpaktou. What is your response? 5) If you were to somehow become stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you? The second requirement to your application is to provide a roleplay sample that you, yourself, have typed. For this, you would need to roleplay an action sequence of some sort, whether it is in a market, the training grounds, having a reflective moment or your character’s experience when s/he first got bankai or shikai. However, keep in mind that this is a roleplay and not a chat. Avoid using terms such as lol, 4rl, irl, rofl, lmao, etc… when you are roleplaying. This goes not only for the application, but also for the squad and the guild itself.

1) As a member of Squad 12, what can you do to help improve the squad?
- Kuro is rather strong and is practically a genius when he wants to be. I can help train other members of the squad and also can participate in research projects and help develop new technologies.
2) What inspired you to join this squad? Any references?
- I have always been a fan of squad 12 and believe that my character will do well here. I also know the captain rather well.
3) If you were to be given the assignment to conduct research on a new product, would you prefer to work alone or gather a group to work on it?
- Either is fine for me, though I do work best on my own most of the time.
4) An emergency break-in has occurred and the intruder is out to steal the research information of a new form of a zanpaktou. What is your response?
- Protect the information at all cost and, if possible, alert everyone of the break-in.
5) If you were to somehow become stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you?
- Zanpakuto for acquiring food and fire, flask for carrying water or other things, and a small knife.
RP Sample:
The moon was shining high above the earth, bathing the area in its sacred, silver light. Deep in a forest that seemed captured by darkness, stood a man dressed completely in black. The glow of the moon outlined his body in the vast shadows of the forest. He was wearing a standard shinigami uniform along with his black long coat that was tight around his torso but flowed loosely around his legs, its tail nearly touched the ground. The man was walking along a worn path that cleaved its way through the tail grass, guiding him to his destination. He was searching for a hollow that had been reported to reside in this area. The beast had savagely been attacking children that lived in the towns near the forest and it was his job to end its reign of terror.
"I know it is around her somewhere..." Kuro said lightly to himself as he continued walking down the dusty trail. Just as the words left his lips, he noticed some movement out of the corner of his left eye. He was being watched by someone, or something. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the sounds of his surroundings. There were several birds whistling a sonata of the night and a few deer grazing in a small opening to his right. Then he noticed something else, breathing heavily but remaining still. Is it waiting for me to move... Kuro thought to himself as he opened his eyes. His eyes had finally adjusted to his dark surroundings, but he still struggled to see things in detail. Kuro decided to take a few more steps just to see how the beast in hiding would react. He swiftly took three steps forward, and that was all. As soon as his foot made contact with the ground on his third step, a grizzly howl sounded throughout the dark forest. Shivers ran up Kuro's spine as his body froze in its tracks. He was overcome by fear and no matter how much he struggled he couldn't force himself to move. The beast then emerged from behind a tree, walking on four legs. It was a wolf type hollow with three tails and two large horns on the crown of its head.
Something in Kuro then seemed to change. His sense of fear vanished as he remembered he had a job to do. He refused to give into his emotions so easily. His body seemed to relax as he regained control of himself. He slowly turned to face the monster. A thin smile formed on his face as he gracefully moved his hand to the hilt of his zanpakuto that hung from his left side. "I've been looking all over for you...I always did hate hide and seek. It's a cowards game, but then again I suppose that is why it fits you so well. I have come to make you pay for the sins you have committed. Don't struggle...and you might not feel a thing." Kuro spoke with a confident tone as he removed his zanpakuto from its sheath in one fluid motion, then holding it out to his side. The beast just laughed in a low growl as it bent down slightly as if it were preparing to pounce on its prey. "Foolish shinigami....you actually think you can destroy me. You should know not to underestimate your opponent, otherwise you will fall." It continued to chuckle lightly as it spoke.
Suddenly the beast vanished as it began moving around Kuro, jumping from the side of the trees around him. His motions were a blur. For his size, he is fast. Kuro thought as he kept his concentration on the motions of the beast. Suddenly it appeared directly behind him and attempted to impale Kuro through the chest with its horns. Kuro vanished before the horns made contact, appeared to the right of the beast, his zanpakuto resting on his shoulder. The sound of the beast's two horns hitting the ground reverberated through the area. Kuro had sliced them off during his shunpo with one swift motion of his blade. "I would have to say the same to you, hollow. Underestimating me is a huge mistake." The beast roared with rage at the loss of his horns. He vanished once again, only to appear directly in front of Kuro with his front paw in mid swipe, claws extended like thick daggers. Kuro stopped the attack with his bare hand and twisted the creatures wrist till he heard the cracking of the bone. "This is the end..." He said in a cold tone as he broke the wrist and forced his blade through the creature's skull. He quickly removed his blade from the creature and returned it to its sheath. As he walked away, the body of the beast faded to dust. "Maybe you will find peace in the next life..." He said simply as he vanished into the darkness of the forest, returning to the Sereitei.
((Sorry if this isn't that great. It is kinda late and I'm in a hurry, lol))

1) As a member of Squad 12, what can you do to help improve the squad? Rue loves to tinker and create new things because she can help people with them. By building something she can make someones life that much better. Beyond her love of creating and helping she enjoys having a big, close family of sorts. She'd tend to try and settle disputes and keep the squad functioning together as a united being. 2) What inspired you to join this squad? Any references?Squad 12 has always interested me personally because its a place to explore possibilities and be very creative. Rue got interested in joining the squad because she heard about some of their activities while in academy. She got to use some of the technology they had created while at the academy and she realized what an asset they were to the spirit world. For Rue its a place where a talent, that had never been of much use to her in the human world, could be put towards making things that could save lives and make the world a better place. 3) If you were to be given the assignment to conduct research on a new product, would you prefer to work alone or gather a group to work on it?While alone is fine, its restrictive. Alone the idea can only grow so far; while it could still be an amazing object that could do good it wouldn't be the best that could have been created. A group working together, adding their ideas to the mix, can reach the full potential of an object by viewing all of the different sides. Like people there are many facets to a design and the imagination is the only limiting factor. 4) An emergency break-in has occurred and the intruder is out to steal the research information of a new form of a zanpaktou. What is your response? Information can be used for good or bad, Rue would never let something she created fall into the hands of someone who would misuse it. So the response would be to put the entire squad on high alert and lock down the entire building to see to it no information can escape. Pursuit of the subject is important at this point, but doing so without causing further risk is important as well. Only those qualified should go, everyone else should be sent to either insure the security of the building or to check all of the databases and see that no additional information has been taken or examined. At this point the information is to be recovered at all costs, if necessary this may mean the death of the invader to insure the saftey of the information and those it could potentially hurt. 5) If you were to somehow become stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you? A well sharpened, non-serated knife, 8 feet of rope, and a metal hook. Rp Sample:
The wind breathed across the moon painted clearing, causing the white-washed strands of grass to dance in growing ripples towards a lone figure that stood calmly in the center of the opening. The bleaching effect of the overhead silver disk served to blend out the unique colorings that would mark her to the casual observer. The petite figure stood with her feet braced shoulder width apart, a short blade held up horizontally in front of her face at chin height. One hand lightly held the grip while the other rested open with the palm pressed to the stiff links on the pommel because of her stance her weight was settled to the front evenly. Long lashes rested against her pale cheeks as she let the quiet sounds of the night fill her with an inner peace.
From there she let her concentration move inwards, from feeling the night to feeling herself. The soft caress of the wind through her long hair sending the strands fluttering against the backs of her legs. The steady rhythm of her heart in her chest, the increasingly even breathing as it slipped past her full lips. Everything about herself was recorded until she had reached the utter stillness of her core. Usually while here she could feel Medea, talk to her in the room of a thousands TV's, but like her the kodachi in her grasp was here for a different purpose. Locked in that peace and stillness her eyelids lifted, the white-washed blue orbs distant as if locked on something only she could see.
With fluid grace her right foot stepped forward, her hand following smoothly to sweep the kodachi from the neutral position to a short arc that ended with the blade's tip pointed straight in front of her. With a slight twist of her wrists she sharply brought the sword down into a lower position so it was now at an angle.
The black robed figure slipped into the next kata without breaking the speed of her movement, her back foot sliding slightly behind the front as she rotated to face the opposite direction on the balls of her feet. Her arms came around with the movement slipping over her head as she turned and ending with the sword behind her head before she took a step forward once more and brought it down into the starting position. Like a slowly twirling dance she repeated this, back and forth, her movements smooth as water. Almost imperceptibly she began to speed up, the strikes coming to their end faster and faster. Without drawing attention to it she was suddenly cutting the air as she swung, the sharp sound of the blade descending familiar to her ears as she concentrated harder to keep the fluidity of what she was doing while moving at this pace.
Beads of sweat began to gather, not from the exertion, but from the amount of effort she was putting into landing everything perfect. She stopped each time at the exact height in her downward arc, applied the same amount of pressure, moved the exact same distance with each movement of her feet. If she messed up just once the rhythm would be destroyed. Speed was her ally, she lacked the strength many of her peers had. Head to head against a Hollow she would be at a serious disadvantage. If she was going to be as good as she could, if she was going to help her fellow shinigami, then she had to make up for that strength.
Rather than be able to face something head on, she'd be fast enough to get behind it. But speed could cost her accuracy and she would not let someone get hurt because she couldn't hit perfectly every time while moving at these speeds. This was her goal, she'd perfect this until she could hit every time no matter how fast she was going. Because more than just her life was on the line for this. She felt the niggling of an idea ripple across her calm center. Normally she'd have let it bubble to life, as it would bring an idea for an invention, but she left it to drift away this once.
As her sword whistled downward on yet another arc she let the kata change, from there she stepped fully to the side bringing the blade whistling up in a sideways sweep that would have cut a man in half had there really been one. Sliding her non-dominate foot slightly behind her she swung her body and her arms in the next arc so that she reached a point that had previously been behind her and ended with the blade in a horizontal block to stop the imaginary blow. She dipped to a kneeling position, moving forward into what would have been an attack and stuck with a thrust upwards at an angle through the fake chest. Like she had with the repetitive kata's earlier this slowly began to pick up pace. Each sweep and arc of the silvery short sword got just a little faster, began to be harder to see as it cut through the air with a whistle.
The flowing movement of her body mixed with the night air and the knowledge that what she was doing was going to work, that she was working to make herself better, all served to bring an enjoyment to what she was doing. The inner peace spread outwards and without realizing it a soft smile graced her lips as she spun into the next attack. Sweeping the blade low she blocked a fake lower attack and flipped over the sword working to hold it in place only to land, flip her wrist, and bring the blade upward to strike at the upper chest of her imaginary partner. Her hair was dancing around her moving form, just escaping getting cut by the kodachi with each attack or block that she made. The kata's took on an almost dance-like atmosphere as she ghosted across the moon bleached clearing killing fake opponent after fake opponent.
Swinging into yet another attack her foot hit a buried rock and rolled over it rather than catching her weight as it should have. With a startled shriek Rue tumbled forward into the grass covered dirt. Medea spun a few times away from her. Coughing and sputtering she pulled her head upright, spitting out a few strands of grass. A messy face, buried under a shock of hair, slowly turned to look where her foot was laying and promptly glared at the innocent appearing rock. Grumbling she shoved her way to a sitting position, her hand reaching out and grabbing at the rock. The object refused to budge.
"Oh no you don't." She told it scooting over and getting yet more grass-stains on the pants of her black uniform as she started digging at the dirt around the rock. A few minutes later, with dirt encrusted fully under her now very dirty hands, she laughed in triumph and jerked the rather good sized rock out of the ground it had been buried in. Holding it up eye-height she stuck her tongue out at it while crossing her eyes then pulled it back and threw it as far as she could towards the forest that lined her clearing.
The blond then collapsed back to the ground, arms outflung, with a huff. A full blown pout dominated her features while her gaze traced the stars in the sky. Her ankle wasn't hurt, but it wasn't exactly happy with her either and she knew it wouldn't support her if she got back up and tried to work on her kata's again. If she did she'd probably end up spraining it and having to hobble her way to the 4th division's building.
"Yeah...that'll be fun to try and explain to Tashio in the morning." She grumbled, before sighing once more and all but giving up on her continuation of the plan for the night. She should have checked the clearing better, but she'd practiced here tons of times before and never tripped over a stupid rock. At least no one was here to see her fall on her face like a rookie. Hence why she often trained here and not at the training grounds.
After a minute she pushed away from the ground and sat up once more before rolling completely to her feet. She hobbled towards Medea and picked the kodachi up off of the ground, being sure to pick at any stray bits of dirt or grass. She was going to hear about this enough from the Zanpacto without adding insult to injury. The blade was resheathed with an easy practiced movement. A sweeping glance across the clearing showed it was exactly as it had been before, the hole from the rock not visible beneath the twitching grass. Having given up on practicing she decided to go back home and see if she could get that idea from earlier to resurface. If it could help her with her speed or accuracy it was well worth the time.

Your application is spectacular! I am well content at your answers; they scream “commitment” everywhere. Commitment is what this squad needs. For your roleplay sample, I enjoyed the detail and effort put into it. How you used description was simply wonderful. (^.^)
Hence, your application has been accepted.

1) As a member of Squad 12, what can you do to help improve the squad? Kato is a person who doesn't easily become emotionally detached, he is the type of person who would go to no ends just to see what made something tick. 2) What inspired you to join this squad? Any references? Kato has always been an otaku of science, and, this a place where people aren't restricted because of things such as creativity, but they are judged sheerly but ability. 3) If you were to be given the assignment to conduct research on a new product, would you prefer to work alone or gather a group to work on it? It highly depends upon the assignment, if it would be something that required assistance, then Kato would work in a group, not to say he is anti-social, it's just, in most cases, he prefers to work alone. 4) An emergency break-in has occurred and the intruder is out to steal the research information of a new form of a zanpaktou. What is your response? Kato would first ensure that the research data is unharmed and in a safe location, then dispose of the enemy for his insolence. 5) If you were to somehow become stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you?Kato would bring his zanpakutou, a cantine to carry water, and a sack of some kind to carry food. RP Sample:
Kato stared off into a distant sunset, only wishing to crush it's eternal light,"He who challenges the sun...faces a fate far worst than death," He snickered as he began to get up,"He who burns does so for his own incompetence," Kato walked away from a falling sun,"The further I walk away from the sunset, the closer I get to a sunrise."
Kato raised his hand at the now visible moon,"You, oh clairvoyent deity of the sky, tell me why, this past of mine goes unrecollected," He suddenly stopped before shouting,"HAH! I can't believe I actually said that! I must be getting older or something, the fact that I'm actually about to plea to a giant space rock is pretty sad......so is the fact that I talking to myself," He continued his trek to the edge of the Gotei, the edge of a new life, one that wouldn't slip away in an instant.
"You worry too much, Kato," He muttered,"You need to grow a pair and charge into the Gotei 13 and demand a seat in a squad," but then, a sudden ominous wind blew by,"but...all of the captains are so scary, EEIII!!!" he unsheathed his zanpakutou and screamed,"BRING IN ON COURT GUARD SQUADS! I WILL CONQUER YOU!!" Then suddenly a rock hit his forehead,"....owww....I probably deserved that..."He got up and walked home, to prepare for his next day. ((I'm feeling rather lazy at the moment, sorry ^^;; wink )
