How can that be? Zak is much better! Who here thinks that Zaknafein is much better than Jarlaxle?

Well... I like Jarlaxle better. Sure, Zak's pretty cool, but he got killed off too quickly to convince me that he's cooler than Jarlaxle.
And besides, they could both easily ascend to God-level. Toril doesn't just have one deity.

True. They should have kept Zak longer. Or brought Zak back instead of Wulfgar in book 10.

I think that because Jarlaxle is alive and the in the story than Zak, that's why people like him more, but I could be mistaken. I like both characters, but when Zak was reanimated in The Dark Elf Trilogy, that lowered my liking of him. Don't get me wrong, I still adore Zak.

Yah, I didn't like that either. He should have followed Drizzt to the surface. Why'd Salvatore kill him, anyways?

I think it had to do with something along the lines of Drizzt had to grow up and learn to depend solely on himself and not on any part of his drow heritage.

I dunno I think I saw plenty of Zak to say with certainty I like Jarlaxle better. Zak seems kinda normal to me. He's another Drizzt. A dark elf who isn't really evil. Classic Good guy stuck in an evil society. Jarlaxle has so much more depth and mystery to his character. Not to mention razor sharp wit XD
GO JARLAXLE!~

Oh, don't get me wrong! I think Jarlaxle is awesome! He was made perfectly as a character. I just think Zak is better.

Also, I think that Zak was what Drizzt would turn into if he stayed in the underdark. Killing Zak was the same as killing that possible future for Drizzt. Very (and badly) symbolic

Yagi_Yuki Also, I think that Zak was what Drizzt would turn into if he stayed in the underdark. Killing Zak was the same as killing that possible future for Drizzt. Very (and badly) symbolic Kind of morbid, really. I still stand by what I say when I say he shouldn't have died, though it is safe to say it was a smart move on Salvatores behalf.

I hate to say this, but I do sort of agree. It's a shame though. He was slightly funny.

Ya.. for me it would have been cool if Zak had come back instead of Wulfgar buttt then i dont think there would have been as much conflict with the whole Cattie-brie drama...
Jarlaxle is waaay cooler in my book because he isnt a pawn. he is the master and he moves his little pawns without them knowing that they are being directed. Plus i love his hat.
