'How could this day get any worse?' Killashandra thought as she trudged through the rain and mud. Today had not gone very well and it felt like the world was out to get her. She growled softly as a car flew past her, splashing water all over the place. The only upside to the worst day of her life? It was almost over. She was on her way home where a nice warm bed waited. And maybe a bowl of soup.
Killashandra sighed tiredly as she pushed another wet strand of brown hair out of her face. Why had she cut it short again? Now she couldn't even pull it back into a pony tail to keep it out of her face. 'Oh yeah, it was nearly 100 degrees out a few days ago...' The world really hated her.
Thinking back, she figured the day had started out alright. She had woken up early, had a nice breakfast, fed her cat, walked her neighbors dog for 10 bucks, and then headed off for work. Her bad day started the minute she walked into those employee doors. She hung her head in defeat. If stress didn't kill her, then her boss would.

Archer wasn’t thinking clearly, he was filled with an unusual amount of anxiety. Did he let his cat back in? Did he leave the stove on? Was the cough he had TB? Each thought whirled through Archer’s head only making him increase his pace through the saturated air. He had forgotten his umbrella at his office and was now quite wet. His skin pricked into goose bumps and he shivered violently causing his teeth to chatter. ‘What if I left my flat unlocked’ This fleeting thought took Archers mind of the cold and focused it once again on his already bad day. Archer was having a bad day because earlier that morning he was fired for forgetting to file a tax related document in triplicate. He was given a small cardboard box, and told to leave by two thirty to make way for the part time temp. Once Archer left his office he found his bike to be severely mangled by some local punks who bent his spokes and spray painted it in their colors. To top off the bad afternoon Archer’s cardboard box disintegrated in the rain, witch forced him to leave behind several treasured nick nacks and photos of his cat. Archer was now soaked, depressed and paranoid that the universe was exacting revenge on him for some atrocity he committed in a previous life. Archer was so distraught that he did not even notice an oncoming messenger bike. Unable to react in time the bike clipped him and knocked him to the ground, where his right knee collided with the curb and let loose a flow of fresh stinging blood. He got up slowly and hobbled to the nearest building where a similarly wet young girl with short hair had just entered. “E-excuse me, but do you have a hanker chief or ace bandage?”

Killashandra looked up in surprise. A strange man had just wandered into her apartment building asking for a band aid. She glanced over at the doorman sitting behind the counter to see him digging through a drawer.
"Here's one" the doorman said as he handed it over his counter desk.
Killashandra rolled her eyes and took the band aid, walking over to the man since the doorman seemed to be too lazy to get up and walk over to him. "Here. Looks like a nasty cut," she said as she handed it over. She was careful only to hold it from the very end so as not to get it wet. When he took it, she looked him over.
He seemed to be as miserable as she felt. He was dripping wet and seemed to be having as bad a day as she was. Why was it when it rained people always had bad days? This thought rolled through her mind as she took a step back to give the guy some room.

Being fairly new to the building, Veata didn't recognize the doorman or the two wet people standing in the foyer. The door to the stairwell closed loudly behind her, and she realized as the conversation in the room died down that she was breathing heavily from her swift jog down the three flights of stairs. Pushing a strand of vibrant red hair away from her green eyes, Veata managed an embarrassed smile to the young man not far from her, who was soaked and holding the band-aid the wet woman had just handed him.
"Uh... Hi," she managed as she hiked her large purse farther up on her shoulder. Her thin lips were still pulled up over her flawless white teeth. A few small blemishes marked her chin. "It's raining."
The only dry woman in the room cleared her throat, still trying to catch her breath. She realized she had just made what must have been a fairly normal situation outstandingly awkward. Which wasn't exactly unheard of for Veata. She wasn't the best in social situations.

This last transfer had not gone as well as he had hoped and when he opened his eyes, he was lying on the floor in a room unlike any he had seen before. The furniture was all wrong and there was some sort of liquid falling from the sky. He knew this because he could see it through an apurture in the adjacent wall.
He slowly sat up and rubbed his head, as he tried to wrap his mind around what had gone wrong. He remembered entering the coordinates for the transfer into the console, but just as he was entering the transfer field, there was a flash of light and he seemed to remember hearing an explosion. The only logical explanation was that they had found him and managed to destroy the transfer console, just as he entered the field. Now he had no idea where he was, because it certainly wasn't Tommezu.
He could breath, so it was obviously an oxygen planet, and there was gravity, though not as heavy as his own, so moving around would not be an issue. He stood up, using the piece of furniture nearest him. He looked around and noticed some images sitting on another piece of furniture. He slowly walked over to them and gazed down into the faces. There was one in particular that caught his eye. The female in the picture had long brown hair, somehow tied back behind her head. There were others in the image with her, but he wasn't interested in them. It was her face that held him mesmerized.
That's when he realized that he must be in someone's living quarters. He turned quickly and pulled out his tenzer. Slowly, he made his way across the room to an opening in the wall and cautiously looked in. It was another room, furnished in much the same manner as the one he had arrived in. It too was empty, so he proceded to investigate the rest of the rooms.

"Hi Veata!" Killashandra waved. Although new to the building, Killashandra already knew her name and her apartment number. That was just something she did. She knew everyone around her.
She turned back to the stranger. "So um...if you want you can come up to my apartment. I have some antiseptic that you can put on your knee" She said a little nervously, pointing over to the stairs. She hated using the stairs when she was having a bad day, but the elevator was still on the frits. "If you're busy, I understand." She turned and started up the stairs. Luckily, she was only on the second floor.
It wasn't long until she was in front of her apartment door. Luckily for her, she had a fairly large apartment for a decent price. She was proud of her apartment, since she organized it precisely. She struggled with her purse a moment, flicking her wet hair out of her face. Finally, she found her keys and jammed them into the lock. She twisted and the opened the door.
"If you're hungry I have some food too." She said as she dropped her purse on the table next to the door. She then proceeded to try and wring her hair out before she moved from the linoleum hall into the carpeted living room.

He heard the key in the door as he was passing through the room and quickly found a place where he would be out of the way. Just as he finished shifting his molecular structure to match that of the wall behind him, the door opened and in walked a female. He watched her movements with avid interest. Her hair was the same color as the female in the image, but much shorter and as she tossed her head from side to side, liquid, like that falling from the sky outside, flew from her hair. When she lifted her head once more, and he was able to see her face, he came to realize that it was the same female; she had just cut her hair for some unknown reason.
Those of his race would never think of doing such a thing. One's hair was a sign of age and wisdom, and though his was still considered short by his people's standards, it was still longer than this females was now. Had she somehow lost her wisdom? Was that why her hair had been shortened? There were so many things he didn't know about this race and he wished he was on Tommezu right now, so he wouldn't have to worry about it. He slowed his breathing to an indecipherable whisper and waited to see what the female would do.

"Lucifer! Where are you?" Killashandra yelled as she ran her fingers through her hair to spread it. "Never again. I'm never cutting it this short ever again," she mumbled over and over as she picked up a random hair clip and clipped her bangs back. She had lost hers on her way home from work. She couldn't wait for her hair to grow out again. "See if I ever listen to my friends again." She kept mumbling as she walked to her kitchen, shedding her outerwear as she went. She tossed her jacket onto it's hook. " 'Cut your hair' They said. 'It'll feel so much cooler then!' They said!" She missed being able to tie it back into braids and ponytails. Luckily for her, it should grow back in a year or too.
"Lucifer dinner!" she yelled again as she started going through her shelves.
Out in the hall, Lucifer, her black cat with yellow eyes was watching a certain part of the wall. His tail twitched back and forth as he sat there, watching. "Mrow!" the cat said before going up and rubbing up against what he thought was the stranger that had spontaneously entered is mistress's house.
"Lucifer, you dang cat, where are you?" Killashandra demanded as she turned on the stove to start reheating her left over homemade soup from the other night.

The animal had come out of nowhere. It must have been in one of the rooms he had not entered yet. There was nothing like it on his homeworld, but he didn't appear to be in any danger from it, though it most definately could tell he was standing there. It was currently rubbing up against his legs and making a vibrating sound.
The female was making noises from another room, and he could not see her at the moment, but he could hear her speaking words, that were unfamiliar to him. It was going to be tricky finding a way to assimilate this new language, without placing fear into their minds. The animal was still paying too much attention to him, so he decided to give it something else to think about. Bringing two of his fingers together, he rubbed them slowly until he had built up enough energy between them, and then bending over, he touched the animal on it's head. The animal quickly retreated, all the hair on it's body standing straight up. It wasted no time in exiting the room he was in. He breathed a sigh of relief and returned to standing silently against the wall.

Lucifer launched himself out of the room and into the kitchen, effectively digging his claws into Killashandra's leg.
"OUCH!" She yelled in pain. She jumped and spilled some of her soup. "Lucifer OFF!" She yelled as she carefully pulled him off her leg. Although she had been wearing her good slacks, they were now ripped to shreds and her leg was bleeding profusely. "ow..." she whimpered as she staggered towards her room.
Tears stung her eyes as she entered the room Lucifer had just left. Her bandages and antiseptic were in the cupboard of her bathroom, which was located just off of her bedroom.
She limped into the bathroom and pulled out the necessary items before heading back to her bed. She gently sat down and lifted her leg for inspection. She had to bend a little awkwardly since Lucifer had latched onto the back of her leg. She tried to roll up the remains of her pant leg, but it kept sticking and making a mess.
Frustrated, she went to her door and peered out. "Just make yourself comfortable. My cat just cut up my leg pretty bad so I need to bandage it and change." she said to the man she wasn't quite sure had followed her.
Killashandra closed her door with a click and began removing her pants. She hissed softly as the fabric pulled away from her injury. Yup, her cat had really dug into her leg. She might have to run by the clinic tomorrow to get it looked at. She felt her cat rub against her back and she rolled her eyes.
"Now you're all apologetic? Lucifer, you need to learn control," She said as she quickly petted him before turning back to her leg. She dabbed it clean with a damp cloth and then dried it. It wasn't bleeding profusely, just enough to make cleaning the wound a hassle.

He watched her enter the room and saw the fluid staining her clothing and wondered what had happened to her. She seemed quite upset about it as she walked out of view, the cat trailing behind her. She was saying something as she left the room, but he did not know what or to who she was speaking. He assumed she was conversing with the animal. She had left the door to her dwelling open, and this too confused him. Did these people not fear for their lives? Would they permit anyone to enter their dwelling unbidden? He decided to take this opportunity to extricate himself from the situation. He stepped away from the wall, thereby no longer blending in with his surroundings, and made for the open door. He had no idea what he would find on the other side, but he could not remain standing against the wall indefinately.
As he made his way towards the door, his foot caught on something, and before he could stop himself, he was falling forward. Try as he might, he could not stop himself and he ended up crashing head first into what he could only assume was a table. Whatever the lighting mechanism was that was on the table, toppled over and landed on his head, rendering him unconscious. His body fell to the floor, but he didn't feel a thing as he hit the carpet.
{I'll let you make up the description of him}

Killashandra fell back onto her bed in surprise as a loud crashing sound filled her house. "What in the world?" She said out loud as she quickly slapped an extra large bandage onto her leg and slipped into a thigh length loose skirt. She quickly left her room, limping slightly.
She entered the hall and gasped in surprise at what she saw. Lucifer followed with his tail held high. When he saw the man lying there on the ground, he hissed and made an angry yowling sound towards him.
"Oh my god, are you alright? Where'd you come from?" Killashandra asked as she hurried over to him. She minutely glanced at her front door, seeing that it was still open. She rolled her eyes and scanned the rest of her home. 'Looks like that guy from earlier didn't follow me after all.'
She quickly sat next to the stranger and reached to shake him awake. He didn't budge. She glanced at her fallen lamp and then his head. She carefully reached over and touched where she thought the lamp had fallen. 'No blood, but there is a lump,' she thought. She looked him over again. He had the strangest hair color and she'd never seen him in the apartments before.
Sighing, she made her decision. Standing, Killashandra headed over to her phone and quickly dialed 911.
"Hello, 911 what's your emergency?"
"Hi, There's a stranger in my house and he's unconscious." Killashandra said.
"Did this man break in?"
"No, I left my door open. I'm in an indoors apartment complex. He's not bleeding, but he has a nasty lump on his head."
"Did you hit him?"
Killashandra sighed in aggravation. "No I did not hit him. I was in my bedroom, I heard a crash, and when I came out here, I found him unconscious."
"Did you attempt to wake him?"
Killashandra felt like throwing her phone. "Yes of course I did. I think he has a concussion. I don't have a car so could you please just send an ambulance."
"I'll need your name and address."
Killashandra willing gave her info and then hung up. She sat down next to the man, gingerly touching her own wound. "Well buddy, looks like it's you and me till the medics arrive."

He heard her voice in his head, but he could not make out the what she was saying. It was as if he was floating in a dark void, and there was nothing around him but her voice. Suddenly he felt her hand on his head and with that brief connection, he reached out to her mind and in less time than it took her to breathe, he assimilated her language. This was a skill his people had engineered into their dna over the centuries.
Suddenly he was hearing her speaking to someone else, yet there was no other voice in the darkness answering her. Though he could understand her words, the meaning of some of them still held a mystery for him. With all his will, he fought to bring himself awake.
With much effort, and an aching head, he opened his eyes and saw her looking down at him. He slowly moved his arm and reached for his head. There was certainly damage to his skull, but he had no idea just how much. Caustiously, he made his first attempt at contact.
"I apologize for any damage I may have caused to your domicile." Domicile? That didn't sound right, but it was too late; the word was already out of his mouth. The creature he had seen earlier was sitting a fair distance away, clearly disturbed by his presence.

Killashandra wrinkled her nose a little. 'Domicile?' she wondered to herself.
"Don't worry about it. I hated that lamp anyway," She smiled as she looked over at the fallen lamp. It was still intact, other than a large crack down one side.
"You shouldn't move. I think you have a concussion. I called for an ambulance so a medic can take a look at your head. Maybe my leg too," She said as she looked at her bandaged leg. There was a dark spot where blood was.
"So...I can figure out how you got into my apartment, but not why," Killashandra said, more to herself than to the stranger. "My name is Killashandra by the way, Killa for short. What's your name?"
