So for my English class, my teacher made us write a Valentine's poem. I dislike this holiday so I wrote a comedy poem on how I don't like the day.
Hearts a flutter, come mid February,
Fat naked babies fly and attack you with arrows.
What was Aphrodite thinking?!
Giving her ugly naked son a weapon?!
Lovers frolic, exchanging gifts of chocolates and flowers,
Showing love, it makes me sick.
Red and pink all around,
Singing bears and pointless movies,
This is by far the most annoying day of the year.
The flowers can burn and the chocolate can melt,
And cupid can stab himself in the eye.
Couples can stop showing off,
And they can stop buying those out of key singing heart balloons.
I truly think this holiday is fake,
Made up by some love sick saint,
All because he couldn't get a girlfriend.
So Cupid, just go fly off,
Aphrodite put a leash on your child.
Stores stop selling those overpriced crappy gifts,
And your cheesy greeting cards.
Burn the chocolates and the flowers,
And leave the love to fate,
Not some fat flying infant.
Let me be and stop obsessing,
Cause I can truly say,
that I despise Valentines day.
