Antiphono frowned as his short legs had trouble keeping up with the pace of his mate, the lovely mystic who trotted casually before him. Sometimes he didn't know why she stayed with him. He was short legged, plump, and grumpy when not fed. But he could tell she would never leave him, and that meant the world to him.
She was gentle, kind, supportive. She helped him through every cause he started, all the way up until he ended it. She never complained, and she never fussed. She tried to help him eat right and took care of him when he was sick. She was a miracle girl.
They were in downtown london today because the Dergens were both at work, as always, and they had some time to get out of the house and enjoy the day. Antiphono panted as they dashed between human's feet into an alleyway, hopeful for a way to bypass some of the crowds. He groaned aloud to see that the end of the ally was blocked by another building.
"Guess we're facing the humans today, baby." He plopped down on his round behind and looked at her, nothing but love and admiration in his eyes. "You sure you don't want to head home and rest in the garden today?"
