Shadis sat on top of the wallsteps enjoying the noonday sun on his head, gazing across the grounds he smiled to himself he had come to love this abbey and all the beasts within it. He glanced down and fiddled with the small pendant that hung on a piece of cord around his neck.
Yawning the young black squirrel stood and moved up the steps to gaze over the stone wall into the deaphs of Mossflower woods.

Turning Shadis saw a badger standing beside him that he hadent seen at the abbey before. Turning he smiled in greeting and held out a paw.
I'm Shadis, warrior squirrel of Redwall."
The treemouse smiled.
