I was looking around the sakura con forums and noticed there wasn't really that much detail about sakuracon itself so I thought i'd try and give out a little bit more info, if you have any questions about sakuracon feel free to ask i've been on staff since the very beginning and would love to hear anybodies feedback good or otherwise that I might be able to bring to the table and see if we can make it happen!

Sakura-Con 2009 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center

Seattle, WA 1-23-2009- ANCEA (Asia Northwest Cultural Education Association) is proud to sponsor the twelfth annual Sakura-Con April 10-12 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Downtown Seattle Washington.

Sakura-Con is the first and largest Pacific Northwest convention devoted to Japanese animation (anime), comics (manga), gaming and traditional Japanese culture. It is the destination event for an expected attendance of over 15,000 fans, industry leaders, celebrities, and artists. Sakura-Con is the fifth largest convention of it's kind in the United States.

Sakura-Con is an annual three day gathering of enthusiasts and professionals interested in Japanese Animation (anime), comics (manga), and Japanese culture. The convention features a wide array of activities and programming such as: industry guests (both domestic and international), concerts, demonstrations, cosplay (costuming), contests, gaming, discussion panels and film screenings. These events run 24 hours a day to ensure non-stop entertainment and fill the entire WSCTT. Indeed, attendees may be afraid to sleep for fear of missing the fun! There is something for all ages.

Please join us this year for Sakura-Con 2009 as we gather with thousands of enthusiasts to explore the contemporary and traditional cultures of East Asia. See premieres of new shows and video games, meet the creators behind the art, behold many people in outlandish costumes, and dance the night away.

In addition to being a hip, fun and educational event-Sakura-Con is also a marvelous example of cooperation among fans. Sakura-Con is 100% volunteer run. No one gets paid to put on Sakura-Con or to run the ANCEA board which plans and oversees Sakura-Con. Over 400 volunteers staffers devote their weekend for the sake of creating an event that is truly “for the fans by the fans.” Attendees of Sakura-Con all become members of ANCEA and are eligible to receive updates regarding anime, manga and Japanese cultural news year round. For more information and registration visit www.sakuracon.org

ANCEA is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about popular and traditional Japanese media. Sakura-Con is ANCEA's main realization of that mission.
