This story sets in a small modern, North mountain town located just off an army base where men from the village are regularly recruited and where soldiers from other places who where living at the base come to mingle, shop, and so on. It is a small town but it isn't too poor; there are some citizens who have a good deal of money and large homes. There's a performance center, a good school, a whole street dedicated to shops and market stalls and in the center of the town is a rather large pavilion where the pillars supporting the roof were monuments inscribed with the names of soldiers born in the town lost in the war...
This particular story isn't a new one. It had been around the town and in the world for five years. A young woman named Jealyn had fallen in love with a man young at the age of sixteen. They dated for a couple months, and everything was perfect. They decided to get married, and the fiance worked a steady job at a grocer a few blocks from her inherited small home and Jealyn was a regular pianist for celebrations at the performance center. She was a very delightful girl raised by a rich mother and a strict father who died from war and illness, but not before they schooled her privately at home so that she didn't learn bad manners and would become a proper lady with etiquette to match a pianists grace.
Unfortunately though.. Five years ago to this day, her fiance whom Jealyn was deeply infatuated, was drafted into the army. They contacted with each other only every so often. Every couple of days, then once a week.. A few times a month.. And then nothing. All Jealyn had of her fiance was a wedding gift he'd personally made for her; an Onyx table lamp with a bell shape and purple and Grey stained glass head over the candle holder. She thought that her fiance had been killed in the army, and it was nothing short of a bullet in her heart. At first she was merely depressed and reclusive, but then one night her fiance returned in the middle of the night while jealyn slept, and since shed been playing earlier that night the onyx lamp was still aflame. While they were sleeping, jealyn unknowingly resting beside her beloved fresh home from his duty, the candle form the lamp caused a candle on the table she kept it on. It spread to the walls, and then crawled along the floor to her bedroom where they slept, burning... almost everything.
Long story short, in the morning, Jealyn was in the hospital with severe burns on her lower body from the hips and below, and her fiance had died in bed... She didn't even know he was there until after they had given her the news. A few things survived the fire besides herself; her piano made it through with only a little burn makes on its back end, and the Onyx lamp... But even so, Jealyn felt as if her fiance was never home at all. Or that he had come home just to die beside her. People tried to cheer her up by saying his soul protected her in the fire, but it did no good.
It ripped her soul away, and the whole town could see it. She bought a new house, and new furniture with her performance money as how being in pain made her a better artist and people paid more for talented musicians. A once popular young lady who enjoyed performing for entertainment became a mourning would-be-widow who performed less and only when the bill was necessary or when she wrote a song that she felt she needed to share. Jealyn stopped tutoring, she stopped having people over for tea, stopped greeting incoming soldiers from the base to have fun in town. Stopped almost everything... The townspeople didn't seem to mind. Most of her old friends now just pitied her because it seemed she couldn't let go of her mourning. She couldn't move on. Her songs became either about how she felt or about him. About what happened, or what she wished could have happened; and to this day that's how its been. For five years.
And everyone knows, when they see through the window the Grey and purple lights on the white curtains in the front of her house, that an onyx lamp is lit, and it is lit because she is playing. She never plays unless that lamp is lit.
Five, long years of sorrow overflowing from the hole in her chest. she didn't blame anyone except for maybe herself... Jealyn just missed him.

This thread has many of the same rules as the guild. No godmodding of any kind. The player must be literate! Meaning at least - at least! A standard five sentence paragraph. I wont accept anything less. Cursing is allowed and is not restricted as long as its not done irresponsibly. There is to be NO cyberying; meaning that once it gets to over-bra groping - its either to the privacy of private messaging or skip to a time after the fact.
1.) My request is not limited to just the potential love interest. The main request is for a mid-twenties male ex-soldier released from duty that moves into the town (this allows you to have freedom of your character). This character should be sociable, mannered and level-headed, and he will "move in" next door. Anything else is fine.
Noone in this story is inhuman, and no one has any special capabillities - no telekenesis, no phyc powers, no pyromania, nothing. People in story only have natural talents like whistling through the nose or painting on a canvas.
2.) The other request is for two adittional characters to support the main two. Friends, neighbors, other ex-soldiers, ect.
Please pm all questions pertaining to the story, Jealyn, rules or request to me Labeled: "Inquiry"
Read profile information below on details about application.
