In the village cemetery stood a memorial for the most recent of the fallen ninjas. This was a ceremony for Masamune Syaoran. He had fallen in battle against Chaos. With the memorial in his honor stood a case containing the ashes of the shinobi.

This was a time for all those in the village to pay their respects to their comrade. At this time anyone could speak in honor of their friend or to place a rose on his memorial. At the end of all services Masa's ashes were to be released from the highest point of Gaioh.

In the distance two shinobi stood out of sight from the memorial. One was Chaos who had his face wrapped up so only his eyes could be seen, a new cloak on his body to hide the burns. Beside him stood a lone ANBU who wore purple ANBU armor with a mask on his face. Chaos shook his head as he looked at the memorial. "Lets go..." The ANBU said as they both turned and walked away vanishing in the shadows.

Kashin stood at the memorial to protect the area from any enemies or to just keep the peace. He was proud of his comrade. Many had gathered to mourn the loss of Masa. "Rest in peace Masa..."

Westly stood solemnly to pay his respects. He hadn't known Masamune Syaoran, but he knew his reputation. Gaioh was down yet another of its champions. He hated to sound so cold, but Westly could only think about how a fallen champion meant one less piece on their side of the board. And how he could somehow turn an hero's death to his advantage....

Kei approached the memorial site, grim and silent was he; as he walked towards the case that held the ashes of his long time friend. In his hand was a single red rose, Kei held it for a time and simply stared at the ashes. "You were the best of us Masa, always ready with a smile or a joke to break the tension but always dependable and serious when we needed you to be. I never figured you for one to die in combat, but I guess life is just full of surprises, eh bud?" Kei trailed off here as he looked up at the sky and took a deep breath.

"I was never one for long goodbyes Syoaran, I know you won't hold that against me. I miss you bud, and I promise so long as I draw breath you'll be remembered; for your courage, your kindness, your friendship, your tutelage, and your sacrifice." Kei dropped the rose on top of the large pile that had already accumulated at the foot of the memorial and bid his friend a parting smile. "Ashes to Ashes, and Dust to Dust. You always knew how to make an entrance Masa; and without a doubt your last act had the most impressive end I've ever seen." Kei stepped back from the memorial and walked back into the crowd, becoming just another face in the crowd of black attired grievers.

But he walked away from the memorial with a smile, because that's the way Masa would have wanted it. To be remembered not in his final moments, but as he had been in life; for that was the curse of the shinobi, to live knowing every moment could be your last and basking in the essence of life, knowing it in every breath. It was also the shinobi's greatest blessing. "Hasta la vista hermano, vaya con Dios."

Shin stood in silence with a neutral expression on his face and he was dressed in black. Though Shin did not personally know Masa he was here to pay his respects as well. Shin stepped from out of the crowd with a yellow rose in his hand and walked down the open trail and placed it on top of all the red roses. The Yellow Rose was thought to symbolize happiness and freedom. "Well...you are free now. I wonder how long it will take for all of us to be free from this cruel world? Até mais Masa sensei" Shin turned around and and walked back down the trail and stood in the back of the crowd.

Azure approached and laid a single white dove's feather on the urn. His head bowed for a moment in silent reflection. And then he turned and left.

A smile crossed Westly's lips, some mischievous brilliance crossing his mind. He tossed down a rose of his own atop the pile. A blue rose. In the language of flowers, it symbolized mystery, the impossible, and an end to that great illusion known as reality.

"I'll see you in a bit," said Westly, chuckling softly as he left.

Manndar appeared to pay his respects. Manndar didn't really know Masa personally. He saw him around, talked once in a while, and worked with him rarely.

"I don't really know what to say." Manndar said. "I never really knew you very well, but I did know that you were a good person. You finished before us in the human race, so take it easy."

Shuji stood at the gate of the cemetery, watching the group of people slowly approach and pay their respects to Masamune. The young Jounin didn't really know the man, having never spent much time with him. They had spoken in passing, but really nothing more.

"Hope you can find peace now," Shuji said into the air before turning and walking away from the cemetery. There was nothing that he could do, and to continue standing around here just felt strange to him.

Forza anxiously waited for his turn to pay his respects. As he approached the grave he pulled from his cloak a small picture he had painted of the late Masamune. With that done, he briskly walked away from the gathering, moving instead farther down the cemetery to pay respect to others who had fallen in the battle.

Anata wa watashi ga zutto mae ni "sayounara" to yutta hito wo omoidasaseru.

Tougura walked onto the scene with a look seeming content at best. Gaioh had lost one...no...two great men during the wars that plagued it. Several others, of course, but none seemed more memorable. The air seemed damp, ironically enough, as he approached the memorial.

"One for a life lost..."

he produced a red rose from his robe and slid it into the ground in front of the memorial, just away from the pile that had been collected throughout the day.

"...and one for a life that never was."

Again, he produced a rose from his robe, but this one gleamed an odd white...as if nature had never intended to give it a color despite it's shining brethren around it.

"If I'm right, then there's no sense in holding a grudge against him. It's not like you can kill someone that has already died..."

Before he was truly noticed, Tougura figured that it would be best to slip away. He needed to find the blue-haired boy that seemed keen on contacting him earlier. He did not know his name, but Tougura was sure that he had seen him with Forza inside of the delinquent's hideout. That seemed as good a place than any to begin his search.
You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago.

Kobushi has never met Masamune personally, but his reputation was heard of by the gennin. It was a bit strange to see him dressed the way he was, in formal clothing, and despite that, he still refused to take off the helmet he always wears. Unlike almost everyone else, Kobushi just hung around the back and kept quiet, with a few mutters to himself. "I wish I only had the opportunity to meet you, but now it's too late. Sometimes, I wonder if this job really is worth it."

Kazuma stood near to Masamune's remains, and couldn't believe that he had died. He remembered when he asked the Hanekage to train him in the Ichijin bloodline but was to be taught by Masamune sensei instead. He had an odd way of teaching, but it worked in the long run. This Ichijin now nearly 18 years old would have to seek answers on how his sensei had died. A sudden thought had struck Kazuma just then, for he had but one other true sensei from this village....

Angel stood off to the side, watching the memorial silently. Her deep crystal eyes a reflection of the mourning for the fallen memeber of her clan. Masa had taught her much and yet, she'd never truely gotten to know him. She held two roses within her hands. One a vivid white, the other a deep crimson red. She strolled up to the urn and knelt before it and she lowered her head, placing the roses gently against the urn, they were tied together by a white satin ribbon and she stood, a single tear slipped down her cheek and she stood there a few minutes more before she turned to leave. She didn't speak a word to anyone as she left, just left.
