Yeah, so, like the title says, welcome to the official Super Sentai discussion thread (I'm pretty sure there might be other threads, besides the one I made, outside this guild dedicated in talking about the series; however, I'm making life easy for you by making one in HERE -- so deal. blaugh j/k
Oh, also since I'm sure one of you or some of you will feel compelled to "branch out" and start your own separate discussion thread about one of the series, which I guess is fine . . . but, yeah, that's why this one's called the "official" thread)!
Here, please feel free to (remember the rules/guidelines, first and foremost) talk to your heart's content about the series! 3nodding
So, for example, talk about how you hate the American spliced version (Power Rangers), but love THE original-original series (this one LoL); or, how you think it should've aired instead of what's aired, or WHATEVER! razz
Have fun (and remember: this is NOT an RPG thread, but just a general discussion for/about the original series, not fanfics)!

Whoo-Hoo... a sentai thread! What am I cheering for though? My experiences with Sentai is truely limited to shows that are post-Gaoranger! That said, I haven't seen TimeRanger~! :'(

I've seen bits and pieces of Sentai, but I can say that some of the sentai looks good.

1. Super Sentai is not the Japanese version of PR, PR is the American version of SS. Basically SS is a series of superheroes shows in which every season a group of 5, 6 and in some occasions seven individuals gain powers to become Super Sentai to defeat evil. Along with their battle outifits they get Mecha (AKA the zords) to aid them. One season, Zyuranger, was adapted into the American Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, in which the battle seasons were dubbed and new American scenes were added. The next two seasons of MMPR would continue to use Zyuranger footage, but would also use several elements of the two most recent Sentai series, e.g. zords, White ranger. And then the short mini series Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers would use footage from the series Kakuranger, in which the megazords had already been used for the thrid series of MMPR. Finally Saban decided it was time to make another full series that used new Sentai costumes, and so Power Rangers Zeo used scenes from the sentai series Ohranger. Since then every season of Sentai has been adapted into a new series of Power Rangers. I personally prefer Sentai to Power Rangers, but I wouldn't say I hate PR, Sentai is just better for an older audience. My favourite thing about Sentai is the teamup movies, espcially the movie Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai, which was kinda like the sentai version of Forever Red. If anyone has the full version of that on a site I'd appreciate it biggrin A good example of sentai is this scene from the aforementioned teamup movie, Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai. I'm a big fan of super sentai.
favorite is probably dekaranger. nor zyuranger, no maskman! okay i have three favorites.
i'm more attracted to super sentai than power rangers because of the brutal storylines and battles.
the warriors are less of fighting each other and more of beating the bejesus out of each other.
the storylines of some of the super sentai series have become extremely elaborate. power rangers does seem like a beloved little brother comparitively. for example in zyuranger you get the feeling that goldar is actually threatening, in dekaranger the unity theme played off a bit better at the end. each henshin/morph ability had a logical explaination in SS while in PR its never really explained outside of sciency mumbo jumbo that makes no real sense.
now that a think of it why did people think that PR was so violent? its nowhere near as violent as super sentai.

Actually, I have a question. Well, our first PR season was MMPR, while during the Sentai run, it was like the 17th, or something like that. But I've come to realize that seasons are a lot shorter now. MMPR was really long. Did the Sentai version run as long as well?

not really. ist jsut that mighty morphin was made up of like four different sentai series before they decided to change outfits.

An example of how Super Sentai is more for older viewers than PR is the amount of heroes that have died. This is a list of deaths in Super Sentai from the Wikipedia article on Super Sentai.
Kiranger II, who was cut in the stomach by Can Opener Mask.
Battle Cossack I, who was gunned down on a bridge by Cutmen before he could transform.
Yellow Four I, who died protecting her teammates from the Negaparticle Gun.
DragonRanger, who died when his candle, which told him how much longer he could live, ran out. It is likely that he would have been resurrected had a Dairanger-Zyuranger team-up been filmed.
Black Knight BullBlack, who sacrificed himself to put an end to a blaze of hate energy.
Beast-Demon Hunter Sieg, who was slain by Golomois, as a consequence of his recklessness.
TimeFire, who was shot by a Zennitt while saving a little girl. It is likely that he would have been resurrected had a Gaoranger-Timeranger team-up been filmed.
Tenkuu Ninja Shurikenger, who sacrificed Tenkuujin and himself to terminate Satorakura; however, it was revealed that he was still alive according to the Abaranger vs. Hurricanger team up.
AbareKiller, who, after transforming one too many times, fell victim to his Zerogo suit's self-destruct feature and took his Bakuryuu, Top Galer, with him. He was resurrected in Dekaranger vs. Abaranger but once again vanished after destroying Evorian Zero.
The most recent additions were Wolzard Fire and MagiShine, who were killed by Absolute God N-Ma while they were fighting in Magitopia. Fortunately, both were revived by Vancuria (who defected from the Infersia as it was at the time) for the final battle.
On top of those, Black Condor (on his way to the wedding of Red Hawk and White Swan three years after the fall of Vyram) was murdered by a street thug.
In addition, Dracula Monster bit Miss America I and drained her of so much blood that a replacement was necessitated.

Woooo I'm estatic! Someone has put Gaoranger vs Super Sentai onto Youtube, albeit it's in 8 parts, but still I've been dying to see it for ages, and it is worth the wait.
