Ren Derehart Ren walked over to the common room door and stopped, letting new arrivals in, but blocking the way for anyone trying to leave. He ran his hand through his short red hair and blew out a long breath, steeling himself. He was a great leader, but giving speeches had always made him a bit self-conscious. He usually got his confidence back once he got started, but he kept his addresses short and to the point nonetheless.
"Oi! Listen up, cuz I'm only gonna say this once!" He shouted, giving the group of students in the common room time to drop what they were doing and give him their undivided attention, and so those in their rooms could get out to hear what he had to say.
"I see a few of us haven't made it back yet, but I'm gonna say this now and you can pass it on to those who show up later. You all remember me from last year, unless you were living under a rock all semester. We lost a lot of strong hands to last year's graduation, but I'm still here, and until further notice, I'm still in charge." Nobody seemed too upset with that statement, which put Ren at ease. At least he wouldn't have to stomp down some uppity punks first thing after coming back, like last year.
"We got a long year ahead of us, so let's make the most of it. We own this school, and don't you forget it." A cheer sounded out into the hallway. "First order of business is to get yourselves situated. Make whatever 'arrangements' you have to, scout out the new greys, get yourselves fed up and ready for tomorrow. Classes start soon and if you want someone doing your homework or hooking you up with free food or whatever, now's the time to set it up so you're not scrambling to get it done later. However you want to go about it is your own business." Villainous grins broke across the faces of more than one student. Reds knew
exactly how to go about their business.
"I'm outta here for a while, Boss number two should be around soon so if you got a question, ask her. Lets hear it one more time for the Kings of Rikku's, THE REDS!" Ren smiled and left the Dorm to the sound of abundant cheers, clapping and foot-stomping.
"Gonna be a good year. Now what slop are they fixing for lunch today?" he wondered as he made his way to the mess hall.
