Flaws/Weaknesses :: Nikka, being a lightning elementist, cannot swim or be in the water for more than five minutes. If she is, she risks electrocuting anyone else in the water. She is also sensitive, and always thinks worse about herself than she should. She doesn’t want to do anything to herself, however.
Personality :: Nikka is sensitive, but hides it well under her mask. She bottles her darker emotions and actions (hate, sadness, tears) inside until she pops and just cries. This doesn’t happen often, so she is usually a teenager who hates to see others in pain. As she is sensitive, she can tell when others are in pain and know when to back off. When she gets excited, she talks with her hands. Being Italian, she is fairly stubborn.
Background :: Nikka was a classic orphan, left on the orphanage steps with a note carrying only a single word. ‘Nikka’ was that word, and so that was her name. Nikka was brought into the orphanage and raised there, mostly under the charge of girls only thirteen. When Nikka was six, the orphanage came under new management, this time a man named Mark Tolatvia. Unknown to the past manager, Mr. Tolatvia had a sick interest in young girls. Over the course of two months, Mr. Tolatvia had molested all the girls over seven. When he attempted to molest Nikka, she freaked out and electrocuted him to death. Nikka, shocked (figuratively), forgot the whole incident.
Nikka was adopted two years later, when she was eight years old by a rich barren couple. As a celebration, she was brought to the beach. She didn’t like it but didn’t want to hurt the couple, so she obliged them by swimming. After being in the water for six minutes, she started to scream. Alarmed, the couple ran into the water and were electrocuted to death. The authorities declared it a ‘fatal accident with one survivor’ and Nikka was sent back to the orphanage.
When she was thirteen, she was adopted by an elderly Italian couple. Although strict, they were good to her. She had a good life, and was slowly making friends. But when she turned 15, her sleeping power woke up. She could control it, but she was afraid. They tried to deal with it, but found it difficult.
The day after her 16th birthday, she received a letter about Rikku's Academy for the Dangerously Gifted. Realizing that she had to be able to control her power, she decided to go. Her parents agreed with her, and are hoping for the best.
