Welcome everyone to Solace Scents, Rain Event! I apologize that things had to get off to such a shakey start, but we must always expect hiccups along the way now shouldn't we?
This event takes place from March 10th till March 30th. During this time a multitude of activities will occur with a range of prizes from Scents and Items, to Gold and Art. I hope you all have a load of fun.
This thread will be used to lay out exactly what the Rain Event is and the histpry behind it.
---------------------------
:: The Rain Event :: The rain event is a yearly event celebrated by the lower classes and the creatures of magic to call about the rains for a plentiful harvest for the year. It's a three day event (for the sake of the event, one week equals a day.) consisting of games, food, prizes and lots of dancing.
:: The Rain Dances :: The rain dances happen each day of the event from Noon till Midnight. For twelve hours each day, trained dancers take their positions around a symbolic alter and dance like they did in the old days to appease the gods of the rains. On the first day, female and male children from the ages of 5 to 13 dance around the alter. The children are switched up ever hour as children tend to wear out quicker than adults. Their moves are relatively easy and many people come to watch them because little children dancing is utterly adorable. On the second day youths ranging from 14 to 20 take the stage with more complicated dances and more upbeat rythms. Youths are switched out every 3 hours. On the third day the adults take the reigns, ranging from 21 to 40, this is the largest of the groups as most children and youths who decide to take part in the dances come back year after year well into their adult years. Adults trade off every 4 hours, starting off slow and gradually getting faster and more complicated and eventually dancing with partners. In the last four hours of the third day each group of dancers joins together and invites the general population to dance with them as a symbol of unity and their want for the common goal.
