It appears that P.Gum is having some trouble with the local pokemon. He's been getting calls from resistants saying they have been seeing loads of them around the forest area. So in order to help out a bit, he has called all trainers to come and "clear the area", so to speak.

Event Details

On the 6th March, This thread will be open for roleplay. The aim is to walk around the forest area and catch yourself a Pokémon. Yup, you're allowed to catch yourself a Pokémon.
I will use the mule or my main to move the rp along, and as I do I will post Pokémon for people to catch. Each Pokémon will follow someone’s reply so we don't end up with a race.

The roleplay will last for as long as I deem fit, to make sure all participants have a chance to get something. There is no joining fee, however you will have to pay 200g for each Pokémon you catch.

As for what Pokémon you can catch..well...thats a secret ninja

The Professor strolled out of his Labotory facility and onto the short road that lead him towards the forest, where he planed to watch over whomever was to join them on this "Field trip". As with any person who was in this field, he loved all sorts of pokemon, and what he loved more was helping others to learn more about them.

He stopped just up the road when a few voices rang out, and he looked back to see both his nephew and neice, running in order to catch up to him.
They were both around 9 years old, with Timmy being a little taller and with short, spikey blond hair, and his sister who had straighter, longer blonde hair. Both sported Hazenut eyes.

"There you are! I was wondering where you two would be?" P.Gum waved them over

"Sorry" Timmy apoligised. "I was still coaxing Amy out of the house. You know how she is with dark places.

As if on cue, Amy hid behind her older brother, looking towards the forest as if it was going to swallow her up.

P.Gum simply smiled, and placed a hand on Amy's head. "You have nothing to fear, I will be watching you the hole time, and I'll make sure no pokemon try to hurt you, okay?"

Amy nodded, and appeared in full sight again, while P.gum Took out a clipboard and stared writing a few things down while he waited for others to appear. Timmy however was anxious to get into the forest and look for pokemon. He wasn't allowed to catch any though; His mother thought they where to young to have any pokemon just yet, and had told his uncle this many times. Still, He would be able to see some pokemon today.

With a rustle and prancing of small paws, a Vulpix danced around its trainer's feet before dashing a head again. The traimer shook her head watching the small pokemon with a frown. She had to catch one with the temperament of a new born pup. The trainer was average height for her age, shoulder length dark blue hair swayed a bit as tabby like ears flattened out at the sides of her head. She wore a dark red coat with a white fluffy collar, equal red pants and a black shirt. Sadie looked a head as her black knee high boots stomped the ground. She hadn't any idea of what she would be getting herself into, but it could be interesting.

At her side laid two pokeballs, one empty as it's occupant was dashed too and fro a head of her. The other held a young charmander whom didn't know the meaning of behave. Such trifles on her mind, and would make them mind one way or another in time. Approaching the forest, her blood red eyes caught sight of the good professor and his relations. The Vulpix also seemed to notice and was gone before Sadie could say a thing. Scowling a thin black aura cast itself about her figure before fading and not scare those a head. On the other hand, Sassafras was already bounding toward the Professor and others. Tails wagging behind her and tongue lulling out at the side of her mouth. Very canine like and very foolish as well...
PostPosted: Fri Mar 06, 2009 7:55 pm

The young girl cradled the Pokeball in both hands, staring at it wide-eyed as her older brother steered her outside the lab, to follow Professor Gum. The young girl's name was Rylina'sil, but everyone just calls her Lina. She's ten years old, a new trainer, and just received her first Pokemon from the prof.

"C'mon Lina, let it out." The older boy told her. He was fourteen, and has been a Pokemon trainer for three years already. His name was Sicel Swift.

Lina looked at her big brother nervously, and then her eyes darted back to the ball, to this white and red ball that seemed to hold the future for her. She remembered clearly, learning everything at trainer school, but at that very moment, she wasn't really sure what to do.

Sicel leaned over and put his hand firmly around hers, smiling at her reassuringly. She smiled shyly back, and they pressed the button on the pokeball together.

The red and white half of the ball opened at the button, and a red mass of light escaped from the ball. Lina remembers clearly in pokemon school: Pokeballs were storage devices that could turn matter into storable energy. That's why it was able to contain more than just pokemon, including items. That's what the red light was- the energy turning back into its matter state.

The light dissipated as something solid formed within it, and the red glow faded away to reveal a small reddish-brown Pokemon. Professor Gum had explained to her what the species was and what it looked like, but she had been too nervous to see her new friend until now, after coming out of the lab.

"Vulpix!" It cried out, blinking a moment and looking up at its new trainer. Lina and the vulpix looked at each other, and Lina felt her shyness melt away. She bent down and picked up the pokemon, who struggled for a moment, but then fell still, cocking its head curiously.

"Vul?" It sounded confused, but not scared.

"Give it a name." Sicel told her little sister.

"Uh...um...Vulpix...vul...pix...how about...Pixie?" Lina murmured, her voice trailing away into a whisper as her confidence melted away again. Sicel sighed, wishing his little sister wasn't always so shy.

"Well then, go and catch a Pokemon." Sicel adjusted his cap so that it shaded his eyes from the sun better. Professor Gum had needed some help controlling the wild Pokemon in the region. He personally wasn't interested- he has done well with only one Pokemon for nearly three years, and he was perfectly happy to keep it that way until he met a pokemon he knew for sure was worthwhile to catch.

Lina nodded slowly and set Pixie down, who began trotting by Lina's feet as she walked. Lina was scared. She knew how to catch a pokemon, she was confident that she could do it. But...she'll have to make Pixie fight, make Pixie hurt another pokemon, and maybe she'll get hurt too. The thought made Lina cringe, and re-think her decision to become a trainer.

Her big brothers' reassuring hand on her shoulder made her ease up.

(I'm gonna jump to and fro accounts BD wink

"ooww wow! check it out sis a vulpix!" Timmy bent down to try and pet the little pokemon, but amy whimpered and hid behind her uncle.

"m-monny says that vulpixes are fire pokemon, and they'd burn down the house.." she stammered.

"oh, nonsense!" P.Gum said. "as long as the pokemon is well trained and behaved, it poses no threat what so ever"

Timmy sighed. It seemed that they always seemed to have a conversation on wheather the pokemon in question could hurt someone, or their house or something else.

"hello there!" P.Gum then saw sadie approaching. "I take it this is your vulpix? your just in time!"

~~~~~~
Meanwhile, Back near the house, another girl was coming outside and walking up the road towards the others. She hadn't come at first, having needed to clean up the area and other odd jobs, but now she was going to help out with the pokemon catching.
The girl appeared much older then the professors relatives, around the age of 19. Her hair was long and a light brown, with her eyes being a similiar colour. If one were to look behind her they would noticed that, oddly enough, she had a monkey tail that seemed to move on it's own, showing that it was indeed real.
"oh, hey lookie, it's the mankey girl!" Timmy explained.
"The mankie girl has a name, you know" poke said back with some humour, hearing them from down the road. "Has anyone shown up yet?"
Sadie stopped a fair distance away from them. Gloved hands folding a little behind her head. She glanced down at the vulpix that was rubbing against the boy's hand looking for attention before dashing back to Sadie and leaping high enough to get onto her shoulder. She gave a side glance at the pokemon before nodding.
"Yes, she is mine. Quite the little hyper one, but most are at her age." Sadie softly hissed, though the vulpix didn't seem to notice.
Sadie shook her head some, wondering many things, though many were even out of her reach. Scratching Sassafras behind the ears some, she glanced around to see whom else was coming, though Sadie was far from being a 'young' trainer. At the healthy age of 24, she was well seasoned in the life style of a trainer she prided herself in her own ways. True she was much darker then most, but it rarely showed unless someone really ticked her off...
"I had heard that you needed help, so I came to see what I could do to help out." She said, 'And to see what else I can catch' she thought more to herself, though Sassafras gave a small grin of her own.
The mini-sized Pokeball was warm in her hand as though the Pokemon inside wished desperately to be let out already. Lia glanced at it suspiciously, not quite sure if the creature could forcibly remove itself from the Pokeball or not. Her dad had told her of things like that happening to trainers at the most unfortunate moments, but Lia sorely hoped this wasn't the case.
The last thing she wanted was her Pokemon running around Professor Gum's labs and making a mess. Letting out a slight sigh, Lia pressed the white button once to make the Pokeball full-sized again and another to let the Pokemon out. Lia held the Pokeball aimed at the ground in front of her and watched as the Pokeball opened and a bright red light beamed at the ground before it abruptly stopped and a Bulbasaur was sitting on the ground looking impatient.
Lia stored the Pokeball away on the inside of her shirt's cape-like things behind her legs, along with another mini-sized Pokeball which contained a Vulpix. Her mother had given that to her before she had come to Professor Gum's laboratory, because the Vulpix had been the last Pokemon her mother had caught before she'd given up being a trainer in favor of taking care of her children.
"Bulb," the Pokemon said, looking up at her with curious eyes. "Bulba bulb!"
"...Well, what can you do?" Lia raised an eyebrow. It didn't seem to understand her, or it just decided to ignore her. The brunette rolled her eyes before starting to walk towards where she could see Professor Gum and some people around him already. "C'mon, we'll figure out what you can do later. First, let's go see Gum."
For some reason, the Bulbasaur seemed to understand that and started following after her energetically. She seemed to be more relaxed now that she was out of the Pokeball. And who could blame her? Pokeballs were tiny. It just didn't make sense for things to fit inside them.
"What's the dealio here?" Lia said, coming up from behind a girl and a slightly taller boy, pushing past them to come to a stop in front of Gum. "Heard there's some wild Pokemon around here up for grabs?"
(My post probably didn't make ANY sense, since I've only ever seen like two episodes of the anime. xP That's where I saw the whole mini-pokeballs transform into normal-sized ones thing.)
Luckily, poke was in time to see another trainer had followed the professor out of the lab, and now they watched as, for the first time, she had released the pokemon and now they were becoming friends.
"Wooowww..." Amy watched the two with amazement, and a little fear as well. She had to admit, this vulpix wasn't as scary as the other one. But that was because it wasn't running up to her. As for the name, she thought it was cute as well, kinda like a fairy....or a clefairy...
"I like the name..." she mumbled.
Timmy was busy patting the vulpix that had run up to them before, and looked up at the taller trainer once the pokemon had run back. "so, how did you catch it? do you have any more pokemon? he asked. Mabye she had some really strong ones too!
"ah, amazing! simply amazing, I never get tired of watching new trainers interact with their pokemon!" P.gum quickly wrote down some more notes and then addressed the other girl who had joined them. "ah. Well, I'll get to that in a moment. Lets see...uhh..." he looked over the crowd at poke who was watching the bulbasaur with interest. "poke, did you bring those papers with you?"
"yes Professor, I got them right here." she held out some papers, which he took gratfully and quickly read them before he started talking.
"now that you have recieved your first pokemon, I thought it would be a great experience for you to now catch yourself a pokemon from this here forest. I had recieved a few complaints about some pokemon who were causing some trouble in the town-"
"Yeah, there was a really big one and it scared somebody! the lady fainted in front of everyone!" Timmy interupted.
"sppf, it was a catipie on a wall." poke said. "She was just scared of bugs"
"erm, yes it was only a few minor things, but it doesn't matter." Moving the papers around in his hand, he then handed each of the trainers a peice of paper with some pictures on it.
"those are the pokemon you will most likey see when you enter the forest. I believe there may be others, but I could be wrong. So for now lets just stick close to each other...especialy you two" he eyed timmy and amy at this, knowing fully well how they could easily (and most likey) get lost.
"If you have any questions along the way just ask me, or my helpful assistant named poke who is standing over there". At her mention poke waved, also holding up a yellow backpack to show she had a few extra supplies if needed.
"alright then, lets not waste any time!" Professor then started walking into the forest, timmy and amy close at his side. Poke stayed back to make sure everyone else went ahead; she was supposed to keep watch of them all, especialy the new trainers.
(btw, if anyone jumps in at a later time, don't worry you don't have to be with the main group. Or you could meet up with them later XP)
"Sassy here was hatched at home from a pokemon egg, my Mother told me to take her with me and get her well experianced in battle." Sadie explained looking toward the younger trainers. "As for other pokemon, I have just a Charmander. My older pokemon have been retired. They are quite content with remaining home and helping my mother with the hatchery."
Sadie looked away from the two she were talking to, and looking around at the younger trainers. Greenhorns she thought of them, fresh from the school, or something to that degree. Shaking her head she folded her arms waiting to see what they were all there for. When she was handed a sheet of paper with the images of three pokemon on it, she grinned lightly. Well, well, looked like there were some worthy ones out there after all besides the very few.
"This should be fun, don't you think so Sassafras?" she asked the vulpix who yipped before dropping from Sadie's shoulder and moved forward, Sadie was at her heels following the small Vulpix into the forest. Arms crossed as she went, not waiting for anyone.
As much as he enjoyed the company of his charmander, one young man knew he was going to need to expand his team a bit. Having been in the trainer business for awhile, he knew there was only so far he can get with just one pokemon at his side. And quite frankly, there was no better way to do that but to wander out into the wilderness to see what he could find.
Walking into the woods, he kept an eye out for anything that caught may catch his interest. As he did this, he glanced down at his side momentarily to see Tiamat, his charmander. She was still pretty young, but pretty calm for her age. While they explored the forest, she kept her eyes wide opened as she took in her surroundings.
With a bit of a grin, Blade watched her for a moment or two. In a way it was almost like seeing a little kid in a new setting. Only not nearly as... annoying as a small child. In any case this should be a good experience for the pokemon.
It wasn't long before the thief picked up on some signs of life in the woods. Looking around to see what it was, he soon saw what looked like a part of the tail of a vulpix. For a moment, he raised an eyebrow, seeing how vulpixes were not exactly native to these woods as far as he was concerned. But he soon saw the reason why, as he spotted the trainer accompanying the pokemon as well.
And not too far away, he spotted a vaguely familiar figure; Professor Gum. It looked like he had two kids with him in the least, so something must have been going on right now.
Tiamat tilted her head a bit at the sight of the other humans before looking up at her own trainer. When he started to walk towards the group, she was quick to follow.
"Ah hey, Is something going on today Professor?" asked Blade once he was close enough.
"wow...you mean...you hatch pokemon eggs??" Timmy asked. "and you have even more pokemons, that sounds so cool! but why are they retired? you could of bring themw ith you and you could then fight all the other ones!"
"but...what if they were really big.." Amy asked. Timmy just shrugged. "mabye they could just step on the other pokemon?". When he noticed she was tearing up he backpeddled. "I mean they wouldn't hurt them really badly!"
As the Professor was looking deeper into the forest, he saw that another trainer and his charmander had came to join them. "Hello there" He responded cheerfully. "Today I'm helping a few trainers to catch themselves some new pokemon. You are more then welcome to join us if youd like."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 07, 2009 4:22 pm
Sadie laughed coldly, but still loudly as she was asked why she didn't bring her other Pokemon along with her. There was a simple answer to that one, she just didn't want to show up anyone else and it was about time she started a new team anyways.
"I just didn't want to over use them. They have battled hard and lived well on the road. They deserve some time off, don't you think?" She asked looking back toward the kids that had stopped. "I think my biggest Pokemon I had was a Dragonair. But he was gentle."
When things had started with her hatching Pokemon eggs, it was more her mother that tended to the eggs, but years back she helped. Shaking her head a little she looked a head to where Sassafras was sitting and waiting for Sadie to hurry up. Her tails dusting the ground as she waited.
"My mother does all the hatching and tending the eggs. I only helped when I was little. I think the Professor has been there... Not sure, It's not far from his Lab." She gestured off to one side of the forest where she knew her home would be. "Being her only child, she often needs help when she gets too many eggs in at one time. Which is why I had returned home and chose to start a new team."
After glancing at the vulpix trainer momentarily, Blade turned his attention back towards the Professor and nodded in understandment. It definitely explained the little outing, and he figured that it wouldn't hurt to tag along.
"Sure, why not? It'll give Tiamat here a chance to interact with some other pokemon."
Hearing her name, the female Charmander looked up at him before looking towards the nearby Vulpix. For a moment, she just blinked at the other fire type, as if trying to figure out whether to go over by it or not.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 07, 2009 7:07 pm
Lina stayed silent, glancing around at the other trainers only briefly before her eyes fell downwards to stare at her shoes. Pixie sat there, looking up at her with interest for a little while, but then turned around in search of something else to do.
Pixie glanced at all the other pokemon in the area, and trotted over to a greenish-pokemon. She instinctively recognized her advantage as a fire-type over the bulbasaur, and wasted no time in trying to assert her dominance over the grass type, walking up to it and swatting it with a paw.
Lina didn't seem to notice, still uncomfortable with so many people -and so many strangers!- around. Sicel sighed and went over to Pixie, scooping the vulpix up unceremoniously with one hand.
"Scat, you little troublemaker." He told little little thing and tossed the Vulpix back gently, where Pixie easily landed on her feet and turned to glare at Sicel. The boy noted how the Vulpix came right back, pawed at him, and stared at the bulbasaur again. The Vulpix tried to attack the grass-type once more, but Sicel stopped its jump in mid-air with a foot.
He can't leave Lina to train this one by herself. Lina was too soft-hearted and this little one needed some proper discipline.
"Sorry 'bout my little sister's Pokemon. She's a young one." Sicel apologized to Lia. He turned to go back to Lina, who had only just noticed Pixie was gone and was staring at where he was standing. She quickly glanced back down again when she realized Sicel had seen him looking at her.
"Go on Pixie, get back to your trainer." Sicel murmured to the Vulpix, who sat down defiantly. Sicel gave the Vulpix a nudge with his foot, and she fell over, but still refused to move.
Sicel bent down, and picked Pixie up with one arm securely under its two front legs, the same way he has learned to deal with all small canine or feline pokemon. The Vulpix struggled the entire way as Sicel walked back to Lina, and unceremoniously dropped the Vulpix onto the ground next to Lina.
"Keep an eye on this one." Sicel told her little sister, and turned down to glare at Vulpix as it tried to dash away again.
"You misbehave, and I'll have Charm teach you a thing or two about being a proper pokemon." Sicel told the little thing, showing it a small pokeball that was stored in a pocket on the inside of his silver jacket. Inside it awaited the Charmander, Sicel's only pokemon.
"Brother, stop it." Lina muttered. Sicel always looked to pokemon in an almost military way. It seemed to fit his Charmander's personality just fine, but she wasn't sure if she liked seeing her own Pokemon being scolded like that. She then turned back to look at the sheet the professor gave to her about the pokemon that lived in the area.
She studied the three pictures as they moved along into the forest, trying to remember what Pokemon they were. Sicel didn't say anything; it was good practise for his little sister. Trainers need to be able to recognize Pokemon if they see them, it was a vital skill. Pixie had decided at this point that quarrelling with her trainer's brother wasn't going to get her anywhere, so she trotted obediently by Lina's feet, still eyeing the bulbasaur, the only pokemon in the area Pixie was confident she could bully around.
Finally:
"I think this one is Houndour, Caterpie, and...um...pidgeot." Lina said to her big brother. Sicel leaned over to take a look at the pictures.
"That is Poochyena, not houndour." Sicel corrected, explaining to her about the bony bands that is usually found on hondour's back, the skull-like shell on its head, and the orange colouration usually found on its tummy.
"Now this second one is Caterpie. Good job on identifying it. Caterpies will undergo a cocoon phase when it evolves, like Weedles and Wurmples. It will evolve into a Butterfree after its cocoon stage." Sicel explained, and watched her eyes suddenly light up in interest.
"Really? Caterpies will become Butterfrees?" She looked back down to Pixie, and couldn't keep her mind off of how beautiful Butterfrees are. It'll be nice to add one to her team.
"And this last one is a pidgey. You were close- pidgeot is pidgey's final evolution." Sicel explained. He then proceeded to tell Lina a bit more about each species, and his own experiences with them.
Lina began to get nervous again, listening to her big brother's talk. He has fought these pokemon before, caught and released some, and has hurt many of them in the process. Was there a way for her to catch pokemon without battling them? Without making Pixie fight and hurt the wild pokemon?
And what if the wild pokemon didn't want to be caught? If it wanted to stay in its home with its friends and family?
She didn't voice any of her concerns though, and looked down at her feet as she walked and listened to her big brother's talk.
A girl of 12 walked slowly up to the edge of a forest. She peered into the deeper parts before looking down at her new companion. "...I'm a little worried about you..." she said to her Squirtle. It was newly born and slowly taking in the view from the Trainer's arms.
She sighed as she walked in and hoped to what ever God there was, to watch out for them. She was new to all this. She never wanted to be a trainer, all she wanted to was stay home and read her new books, but her mom just had to give her a pokemon instead on the new books she had on her wishlist! "If my calculations are correct you are able to talk..aren't you..." she asked, very slowly like the Squirtle could not understand her.
Poor squirtle had half a mind to jump from the girl's arms and walk or withdraw into the shell and stay quiet so he wouldn't bother her. "I can talk, I just though you wouldn't want me to talk..."
Smiling with relief, the girl petted the squirtle, "I'm glad you can talk...I'm scared of the forest...so keep me company ok." she said before smiling down at her pokemon.
Getting comfy, the pokemon grew restless and climbed on top of the Trainer's head, "What's your name?..What's my name too?"
The trainer almost stumbled at the second question but continued, "Umm..ok...I'm named Rimu, and I suppose...I'll name you Kappa? Sound good?"
"...I'm a water oni?" he said slowly to himself..."Ok!"
