Java sighed, and mist crept around his feet.
He stepped out of the main doors and onto the lawn. It was nearly impossible to see, it was so misty. Impatiently, he snapped his fingers and it disappeared off the lawn, although it was still creeping through the trees behind the school.
He'd had a letter from his mum, though Heaven only knows where she'd got his address. He'd have to ask that robot-thing of Bethan's. 'She' might have told his parents.
He took it out of his pocket and sat down on the steps to read it. He'd been looking for Ava, so she could be there for moral support. He'd not left on the best terms with his parents.
My dearest Javed, he read,
I know we said we wanted nothing to do with you, son, but I feel I must write to you, as I have some important news.
You have a baby sister. Her name is Kara.
As I write this, I know you might not care. I know we cut you off from us a long time ago. But you should know this: Kara is special, like you. She glows in the dark, and she shows us pictures in our minds.
So, I write to ask you for your help. Your father is sick with worry. In truth, I think he's afraid of her. His heart is troubling him, and he requires my constant presence. Will you take Kara for a while, whilest I nurse your father? She's nearly a year old now, no trouble at all. The woman on the phone, Miss Loretta I think, said it would be okay as long as you were willing and Kara didn't interupt your studies. She won't, she's such a quiet child when she needs to be, yet always happy. And she'll save you a fortune on lighting. She can be as efficient as one of those energy-saving bulbs when she's full and happy.
Please consider it, Javed. She deserves to be with her big brother, in a place where she can learn to control her powers. She can have everything you didn't. This is our chance to make it up to you.
Your loving mother.
So, he wrote his reply, and posted it at the end of the drive.
Then he texted Ava:
Hey Ava, cn we tlk? Ive gt sumthng kwl 2 tel u! Meet me by th fntain in 10? Java x

Anya giggled. "I have to go unpack." she said, and bounded off in dog form, dragging her bags. She had a suitcase with wheels, unsurprisingly.
She had to change back to Anya to get her case up the stairs though. But that was okay, her clothes were elasticated so she could put them on easily before she changed. Rushing to her room, her dogs jumping at her heels, she opened her door.
Wow, she thought, a proper bed. Guess I'll have to get used to that.
Seeing the mirror on her dressing table, she jumped.
"Do I really look like that?" she wondered aloud. Her face was freckled, and framed by a mess of light blonde hair, thankfully kept somewhat in check by her collar/alice band. But that came as no surprise. What really made her go closer to the mirror was her eyes. They used to be hazel. And now?
She blinked her vivid green eyes, which were only flecked with brown.
Callum barked.
The more I transform, the greener they go? And if I stay human long enough, I'll have brown eyes again? she paused, taking in her strange, earthy appearance.
Weird.

Ava was laying on her bed in her room. She had been hanging out in there for awhile. It had been boring since Harri left. She turned her head when she heard her cell phone ring. "DUN DUN DUUNNNN!!" It said and she smiled. She turned onto her stomach and read the message. Ava grinned and jumped up. She looked at herself in the mirror: she was wearing ripped up jeans, a t-shirt, and converse. Her hair was up in a ponytail. She pulled the elastic out of her red hair and it fell down to her shoulders. a second later, she was running down the hall and outside.
Andrew nodded at Anya with a smile. "Okay, catch ya later." He winked but knew she probably didn't see it. He turned to face the water in the fountain. He reached down and touched it. Feeling the cold on his fingertips made him smile.

Java waved at Ava as she came running outside. Seeing that Andrew was by the fountain, he motioned towards a bench on the other side.
"Hi. You look nice today." he smiled, kindly awkwardly.

Ava waved at Java when she saw him. "Hey!" She smiled sweetly. "Thanks, you do too." She didn't know if she should've hugged him or something, so she just sat down on the bench. "So, what was it you wanted to tell me?" She asked excitedly.

Becca pulled out her phone and called up the airport, quickly getting through the operators with the ease of well-practiced repetition, and cancelled her plane tickets. She might as well stick around a bit.. she realised she hadn't been in the building yet, but she had no idea which way she would go once inside, so she had been putting it off. Spying Andrew alone by the fountain, she went over to him. "Excuse me, do you know if theres a map or guide of this place? I'm sort of new, and don't know my way around the school. I'm Rebeccae." she smiled, but didn't hold out her hand.

Andrew looked up and saw Rebeccae. "Oh, hey. I'm Andrew." He stood up and put both of his hands in his pockets. "Uh... here." He pulled out a folded up map. He still had it from his first day at Hero High. "You can have it. I have no use for anymore."

She took it, careful not to touch his hands. "Thanks." she unfolded it, frowning - she was awful at map-reading. "Do you know the way to.. actually I don't know my room number, hehe." she looked at the map more, adn sighed. " It's all mish-mash. Could you show me the way to Miss Terry's room? I think the LRTA stays in her office." she explained, holding out the map again.

"You mean like her classroom?" Andrew asked. He pointed at a room on the map. "But since you don't know how to use a map, I'll show you." He looked at her with the beautiful crooked smile of his. He knew she was having trouble with the map. He observed a lot now-a-days. "Just follow me."
