The young ex-thief ran around the Squad 2 grounds via roof top, the chow mein gripped tightly in her grasp. She had to make the delivery on time, for if she didn't, the meal would be free... Oh, how she despised that one rule the Jade Flower so ferviously held in high regard.
Only two minutes left... she thought as she hopped from rooftop to the other. Then, she finally saw her destination: the rooftop of Captain Yomiko's office. With one last leap, Tetsu skyrocketed past two rooftops, and onto the roof where Miss Yomiko sat. She had made it just in time, with 30 seconds to spare.
"Delivery for Captian Yomiko of Squad 2." Tetsu announced to her Captain, who seemed to be deep in thought.

With her legs dangling from the side of the building, the Captain sat on the hard rooftop of her office in a very stagnant manner. Her legs moved involuntarily as a cool breeze swept through the obsidian sky. Her golden eyes had a distant look to them as they carelessly stared down at the ground below her. It was as if the woman was a 'living' statue of sorts but this was not the case. Yomiko was simply in another state of thought at the moment. Sitting on this very roof every evening was a tradition of hers she'd started when she was the Vice of this very Division some centuries ago. This was a tradition that she knew she could never break...
Hearing the low pats of someone's steps against the clay rooftops from afar, Yomiko finally made a movement after so long. Her golden orbs diverted their attention away from the ground as she turned her head over to where the pats were coming from. She couldn't help but let out a sigh as she felt the reiatsu of someone whom she wasn't so familiar with, but she could identify. She had no idea why this girl was coming to her at this time of night. A normal person was sleeping at this time of night, shouldn't Tetsu be? Yomiko knew she had no room to talk, everynight she was on this rooftop.
Yomiko made no type of facial expression as Tetsu landed next to her with a bowl of something that faintly smelled like Chow Mein. What was she trying to do, bribe her or something? Butter her up? Her eyes just carefully examined her demeanor as she heard her talk about a delivery. When did she order something from the Jade Flower?
"What? I-I didn't order a delivery...," Yomiko told the girl slowly. Well, she couldn't be so sure if she ordered something from then Jade Flower or not. Whenever she was in her 'zone', Yomiko wasn't aware of what she would be doing most of the time. With a slight chance, maybe she did order something. "Are you trying to butter me up?" She suddenly asked. At times like this, Yomiko can become skeptical of a person... She can become really skeptical and paranoid...

Tetsu tried to watch her captain's facial expression, but she didn't make one. Her face remained blank as Tetsu waited patiently for her to respond. When Yomiko finally did respond, she slowly said that she hadn't ordered anything.
Is she serious? Of course she ordered this food, I was the one who took down the order in the first place! Tetsu thought unhappily as her facial expression became dull. She knew that Miss Yomiko didn't like her, but would she really just order something from the Jade Flower just so Tetsu can show up and look like a fool? Miss Yomiko very well knew that she had called the restaurant ten minutes before closing, and her boss could never say no to a Captain... She doubted that her Captain would stoop that low to torture Tetsu.
Just then, Tetsu heard Miss Yomiko acuse her of "buttering her up." An anime vien appeared behind her head... How dare she acuse her of something that low!? She had only done that once, and that was during her interview... Ok, so maybe she was capable of doing it a second time, but only when Miss Yomiko was about to kill Tetsu with her harsh and out-of-this-world training.

Moments later, Yomiko looked away from Tetsu. If she did order this food, it made no sense as in to waste it now. All the woman did was shrug before she resumed her normal position she was in before. A sigh escaped from her lips as another breeze played through the night sky.
"So, besides delivering food, what are you doing up so late?" The Captain asked, still not bothering to make eye contact towards her.

Tetsu placed the food next to her Captain, who in turn let out an audible sigh. Upon being asked why she was up so late, she fell silent. Tonight had been the night when her brother was devoured by a hollow. It was always that night that she would have nightmares portraying her brother's death, those bloody, taunting nightmares that haunted her in the same night every year...
It was always on this day that she would avoid sleeping, trying to keep herself occupied through the night... Before, it was from stealing from those wealthy families that she despised so much, and then when she was in school, she would busy herself with school work or a last minute project. Now that she was in Squad 2, she has been making deliveries for the Jade Flower as part of her "training..." Which she doubts is training and more of a volunteer service that she didn't sign up for.
She sat down on the roof a few feet from her captain... She wondered if she should tell her the truth, or lie and risk getting extra torture during training... She could always say that she was doing overtime, but Miss Yomiko would know she was lying... She thought about it a second more and decided to just wing it.
"Well," she began, "We're short on people tonight, so I was scheduled to do overtime to help with the bartending." Tetsu would much rather go through double, no, triple the torture just to avoid telling her the truth...

Yomiko's eyes slowly shifted themselves from the ground and into the obsidian sky. Now, at this point, Yomiko wasn't all too curious about why her subordinate was out this late. The matter didn't concern her personally. Adjusting herself on the roof once more, the woman let out a slight yawn. It wasn't a yawn to say that she was tired, but more like a yawn because she was bored. Usually, when she got like this, she would often find something to busy herself, like watching T.V. or patrolling the living realm.
Directing her thoughts back to Tetsu just in time to hear her explanation, Yomiko just pursed her lips. Tetsu annoyed her to new heights. Ever since she had been in this Squad, all she did was lie and lie. What was the whole point in lying? Did she think Yomiko was stupid or something? As much as she tried to make her explanation believable, Yomiko knew instantly she was lying. Though Yomiko wasn't the type of person to barge into someone elses' business, she was sick of her lying and desperately wanted to know why she was constantly lying to her.
"Quit the bullshit, Tetsu...," Yomiko told her sharply. "All you have been doing is lying... and you're placing yourself in a new trap. Tell me now, why the hell are you out here.... and why are you constantly lying. You're hiding something... it's time to bring it out to light."

Tetsu was COMPLETELY taken aback from Yomiko's reply. Ok, so she was an avid liar, but she couldn't help it! She was out stealing before her brother's death, so lying was second nature to her... Otherwise, how would she have been able to keep the cops from locking her up?
Might as well tell her... I mean, this happened years ago, she probably doesn't even remember Sumatsu... Tetsu thought as she leaned her head back. Then again, she's not one to forget easiliy...
"My brother was killed on this day years ago..." That was all Tetsu said, who was pretty confident that Miss Yomiko wouldn't bother asking for any details. Or at least not paying much attention.

As Tetsu revealed some of her personal information, Yomiko didn't bother to look at the girl. She could tell that Tetsu was hurt when she mentioned her brother. To Yomiko, her commerades died everyday. Death was nothing new to the woman, who seemed unphased by most things that have been thrown at her. Yomiko, did in fact, shift herself a little bit. She didn't want to admit this, but she could relate. She lost her brother as well, some centuries ago. Pursing her lips, Yomiko shook her head as she pushed her thoughts about her youngest brother back into the depths of her mind, where the memories should be.
"You're brother, huh? I guess you were very close to him..." Yomiko trailed off. Yomiko cracked a small smile, as if she were reminiscing about something from eons ago. "I can tell by your voice. I'm assuming... something happened that was not too pleasant. Tell me about it."

Tetsu pulled her knees to her chest, thinking of what to say to Miss Yomiko... Its not a matter of choosing which tall-tale to tell because this time she's chosen not to lie, but rather of how to start telling the truth... To be quite honest, she didn't really know where to start. She hadn't talked about her brother to anyone since his death, and she is quite uncomfortable telling people about her personal life. But this is Captain Yomiko, someone who her brother had served till his death. So if he was willing to die serving her, then Tetsu should at least trust her with such details.
"My brother," she began, her voice soft and reminiscent, "was devoured by a hollow."
She remained silent for a moment, thinking of what else to say. "He was sent to Earth to take care of an outbreak of hollows that threatened an area... He had been fighting day and night, never having time to rest..." She stopped, the details of his final moments aching her heart. "Then, one hollow appeared. It was much stronger than the others he had fought, and he was so tired..." Tetsu hid her face into her knees, intensely trying to keep the tears that treatened to flood down her face... She would have said more, but a few tears had managed to escape and she could feel her voice cracking.
(Oh my god... I think I'm gonna cry after writing this... What makes it worse is that I'm listening to Simple and Clean...)

"A hollow...," She drew out the phrase slowly, as if she were there, at the scene. Of all the information that Tetsu was revealing to her, it all seemed familiar. Yomiko, of course, ran through many recruits and many had died on her watch, but this particular one... The woman pursed her lips, slightly annoyed at the fact that the scenario was familiar. She had a recruit that died in the same manner, but that was years ago. Pushing back the thought, Yomiko continued to avoid her glance.
"I see... and this was the reason why you became a Shinigami...," Yomiko slightly frowned. This seemed to be the motivation for most people who wanted to become a Shinigami. Someone they knew very well might've died... and they wanted to become the very same thing they were. This was all too familiar to her as well, but in her case, the person who inspired her to become a shinigami did not die, well, to her knowledge. "You shouldn't cry. Your brother wouldn't have wanted you to cry...," She told her. "And I sure as hell don't want to hear you cry, either. So suck it up. In the Special Forces, we don't cry." Yomiko knew that the last part was a bit harsh, but it was the truth. Every chance she got, though she disliked Tetsu, she always tried to teach her something...

This was pathetic... Tetsu crying infront of someone was always something that embarrassed her, but what made this situation even more uncomforable was the fact that she was crying in front of a Captain... Oh gawd, she wanted some random sniper to just shoot her now...
Upon hearing Miss Yomiko telling her to "suck it up" all Tetsu could do was get angry. Not at her Captain, but at herself, mentally yelling at herself for acting in such a pitiful manner. WHAT THE HELL, TETSU, WHY THE ******** ARE YOU CRYING?! THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU! SERIOUSLY, CRYING IN FRONT OF SOMEONE!! A CAPTAIN, NO LESS!!! THE SAME CAPTAIN THAT HAD TRAINED YOUR BROTHER AND THAT'S NOW TRAINING YOU!!! EITHER YOU STOP THIS s**t NOW OR GO BACK TO YOUR THIEVING WAYS AND DISHONOR YOUR BROTHER DEATH!! SO STOP THE CRYING NOW!! AND THAT'S NOT NOW SPELLED N-O-W, IT NAO SPELLED N-A-O!!! NAO!!!

"But whatever, cry if you want... You're training will become only more painful as time progresses." Yomiko warned her. Though, Yomiko had to admit, what she told the girl to do was a bit harsh... even for her standards. Yomiko couldn't fault the girl for crying. If Yomiko could recall, there were times when she could break down crying even at the thought of.... The woman shook her head, pushing back those depressing thoughts back into the safe where she kept them. There was no use thinking about those people, just because she had seen the girl crying.
"But anyway, who was your brother. What squad was he in, can you recall?" Yomiko asked, still avoiding eye contact with the girl. The Captain was curious, though her overall appearance didn't seem like she was. "Or was this incident too long ago, that you don't remember? If that's the case, then it's fine."

In her tyrant rage inside of her little mind, Tetsu almost missed what Miss Yomiko had asked. Upon being asked which squad Sumatsu was in, her mind went into thought. She couldn't imagine how Miss Yomiko would react to learning that she was the sister of one of her recruits. It wasn't a matter of many different responses but rather no response came to mind. Well it wouldn't matter anyway cause she would find out soon enough.
"He was in Squad 2... One of your recruits." Tetsu said, curious toward her reaction.

The Captain, upon hearing Tetsu's response, couldn't help but let out a chuckle. It just had to be her squad, huh? Now, she knew exactly who Tetsu was speaking of. She knew who her brother was. Yomiko's golden eyes turned into crescents as she continued to chuckle. The whole thing was amusing to her. How couldn't see she the resemblance before. Though she was laughing, her gaze remained towards the darkness of the night.
"Ah. Sumatsu... was your brother...," Yomiko trailed off. "You two are nothing alike. He didn't lie... You're brother held a high ranking, he was my Gunancho of the Detention Unit, most notably, 3rd seat. He was a kind fellow, but was very strict. Sometimes, he was my acting Vice whenever I was away..." The woman pursed her lips. "Why. Just tell me, why did you feel that you had to lie just to get into my squad?"
