Paragraphing is as important a lesson to learn as Punctuation, because both work to divide thoughts into something sensical and organized. The advantages of paragraphing is that with smaller groups of sentences, people are less likely to skim through your posts, which many will do when they see a long stream of words and grow fearful of the length. The human eye can look at two groupings of words, with the exact same wording, but will choose the one that has been paragraphed the best.

On the other side of this, posts that have been paragraphed too much will appear too messy and will seem to lack substance, since paragraphs are used to divide topics up. Notice that in this lesson, I switched to a new paragraph when I started talking about short paragraphs, while the first paragraph was about long ones.

As I move into talking about the best way to paragraph, I start a new one as well. The ideal way is to look at what you plan to say; if you think your subject is long, but touches on points that might differ in some places, then that is a good place to break off into a new paragraph. Part of it is also using your eye, since it will be up to you to determine if too many lines of text are bunched together.

OPTIONAL ASSIGNMENT
Create your own paragraphs, using the information you learned. These can be on any topic you wish, so long as they abide by the Gaia TOS and the rules of this guild.

Beginner: Write a two paragraph post, with the first paragraph being at least three lines.
Intermediate: Write a two paragraph post, with at least three lines for both paragraphs.
Advanced: Write a three paragraph post, with at least four lines per paragraph.
