Guilds. Friend or Foe?

I spend a lot of time in my guilds on Gaia. I'm sure many of you out there do. Do you find yourself questioning the guilds reason for existence? Is it a mass Gaia conspiracy theory to brings us in and then meet us with diving failure? Or does Gaia just not care enough to do some massively needed updates...? Well whatever it is, I've asked a few Captains/vice-captains/and crew members from a few of my guilds, their thought on the subject. I've asked them a short list of questions and now I'me going to reveal the answers.

1. What do you like about the Gaia Guild systems?

Toxic_Plague: What do I think about it? It could use some major updates. That's what I think about it.

Nicolette Peltier: I like the fact that we can make a guild and actually own it and have fun with it.

Kikioblack: I like the way you can enter people in guild, who it shows up on the page and reasons why with out a long process. Also how there's sub-fourms and then the main forum. And that you can have hide outs for Crew and above.

Kyle Rei Basil: That you can find your interests and share them with other people.

So I though a bit more, and I figured...

2. What could make the Gaia Guild Systems better?

Toxic_Plague: A more competent sending system. Instead of just one at a time, you could send one to every person on the members list.

Seraphim of Forgiveness: a way for the guild to have its own NPC and the ability to send a newsletter to all the members of the guild with a click of a button.

Nicolette Peltier: A post a day rule or something honestly its really frustrating for guild owners when people don't post. Ive been guilty of it only in one guild out of all the guilds Ive been in.

Bridget Paloumar: Allowing more main forums would help greatly, instead of a ton of sub-forums. It would make things easier to organize.

SilverWolfCub: On the My Guilds page, it'll be good to have an option where we could re arrange the guilds how we want em to be organized (alphabetical order, # of posts, favorite, etc). It's rather annoying that my guilds are all random and I have to scroll to find the one that I want. I have a few guilds that I don't visit as often as others, I don't see why they should be top of my list when I open that page.

Which obviously lead to...

3. Is there anything you dislike about the Gaia Guild Systems?

Toxic_Plague: I dislike how almost inconvenient they are. For one, their hard to get to, you have to go through a series of buttons. The shortcut is the same amount of buttons, so it's not really a shortcut. Second of all the use for the money that goes into the guild, needs more things for it to go into other than forums. After you get all the forums your ever going to get, people just waste their money. That's it. No third of all, sorry.

Nicolette Peltier: The fact that users can join and then just not do anything.

Bridget Paloumar: I hate that you have to ban a person from the guild, rather than simply just letting them go, like if, as happened in our guild, they were inactive and posted not one single post in several weeks. It sucks.

Kyle Rei Basil: The lack of a multi-messaging system. The fact that your Vice-captain can ban you from the guild and then take your place as captain and not let you back in.

SilverWolfCub: The pages of the guild have the little icons that tell us if a new post has been made on a topic, but they don't actually seem to work for the sub-forums. It's a pain in the neck having to check every forum for updates.

Yes, pretty annoying problems, the whole lot of them. So I continued on one of the problems...

4. Do you have a guild newsletter?

Toxic_Plague: No. But we did have to send a multi-letter before.

Seraphim of Forgiveness: I would if i can send it all out at once.

Nicolette Peltier: I used to have one but no one ever liked it or responded to it so it wasn't worth the effort.

Kyle Rei Basil: No. Not enough active member to bother.

And then I went into further detail...

5. How hard is it to get it sent out?

Toxic_Plague: It was hard, there were so many people we had to send them to that me and KyleReiBasil split them and it took us three days so we had to change the dates on some of them.

Seraphim of Forgiveness: Very hard because we have quite a bit of people, but lucky my right handed lady (kikioblack) does a lot of that stuff, so thank you kikioblack.

Nicolette Peltier: Not hard at all actually.

Kyle Rei Basil: I had to send out a group letter once. It took three days.

And that concludes this months issue of: Gaia. Game or Death Trap?
