Flaws/Weaknesses :: Ryu is very friendly and loves to be around people. However, he likes to know people too well sometimes, and will go too far in to someone elses' problems. This has lead to him being hurt by some of the people he had put the most trust in or had the deepest feelings for. As a result, he is often torn between a deep seeded desire to know people, and a fear of being hurt again.
Personality :: Easy going and usually approachable, Ryu loves to be social. When he is not in class or preparing, he can usually be found chatting with other teachers or students. He is quick to assist someone with a problem, school related or otherwise. He loves to eat Teppanyaki, and loves training his mind and body, a product of his years studying martial arts growing up.
Background :: Ryu found out from a very young age that he was special. He would see an image in his mind, and then he could make the image appear around him, and for others to see. His parents were troubled by his gift, but loved him dearly. The Japanese government, however, was more than just troubled.
Just before the government decided to take him, Ryu's parents made a discovery that saved his life. As customary in Japanese schools, Ryu had to choose to take a martial arts or gymnastics class in school, and he chose Kendo. Through the immense discipline and focus required in this art, Ryu began to gain control over his ability to create illusions. His parents realized that the more he focused on something, the easier it was for him to control his abilities. By the time he graduated high school, the powers were completely controllable. The government allowed him to remain at home, but kept a close watch on him.
Ryu's love for people led him to discover Rikku's school. He decided to apply to be a teacher and give the students the chance to control their gifts like he was.
Appearance :: Ryu has a slender but toned build. He has icy blue eyes, and his blue Hair spikes up and forward in the front, coming to just below the nape of his neck in the back. He wears a loose fitting open white shirt over his light armor, consisting of a breastplate, spaulders, hip guard, reinforced boots, and bracers. His loose pants allow for movement and flexibility. He carries a Longsword on a hilt at his side.
