Java grinned. "I've got a baby sister! And she's coming to stay with me!" he nearly yelled in excitement. His parents' letter had erased all his past feelings of resentment for them.
His phone rang. Holding up his hand to indicate that he needed a minute, he spoke for about 30 seconds with whoever it was and then hung up, looking even more excited.
"She's coming next week! They want her to finish the week at nursery and then she'll come up on the train with my aunt!"

Ava's face lit up. She seemed almost excited as him. "Oh my gosh! I'm so happy for you!" She hugged him quickly. Ava had always been a lonely child, since she had no siblings or cousins. She jumped up and down. Then, she stopped. She put her index finger to her lips, thinking. "We should get ready for her to come!" She said happily.

"Yeah! So, apparently Loretta's put a list of stuff I need that Mum sent, on my door, and she'll repay the school for the stuff when Kara comes!"
He beamed at her description of Kara: big brown eyes, curly dark hair, and she was 1 in a few weeks, and nealy walking!
He turned to rush up to his room.
"Coming?" he asked, with a glint in his eyes.

Ava smiled. She was busy imagining what Kara looked like. She turned her head when she heard Java's voice. She didn't realize he was already leaving. "Of course I am!" She smiled and turned on her heel. She speed-walked over to him.

He rushed up to his door and grabbed the paper, on which Loretta had printed the list:
Changing mat and table, cot, sleeping bag (ask in the shop), bottles, formula, plate/spoon/cup set, baby food, high chair, pram...
He grinned, pulling the credit card off the door, where it was tacked.
"Let's have some fun!" he opened his door, pulling her in playfully, and then opening his laptop on his bed. He patted the bed.
"If we order now, it'll arrive in time for us to set it up!"

Ava laughed happily and sat down on Java's bed. "Okay..jeez this is a lot of stuff." She said. She looked at the list again and looked at all the things. She looked at Java and gave him a thumbs-up with a grin.

"Right," said Java, clicking on the website of a shop his mum'd mentioned.
"I guess we should start with the basics... toys!" he clicked on the toys section. "Ooh, they have those things that you squeeze and they pretend they're being tickled! Didn't you always want one of those?"
He tickled Ava. "Mum's sending a picture tomorrow.*"

Ava smiled. "I'm not ticklish!" She said, fighting back a laugh. She tried to tickle him back. "Those toys are fun though." She said quickly. Ava ran a hand through her hair and made sure her side bangs weren't messed up. "I can't wait to see her. She must be so beautiful."

"She glows!" Java giggled, kinda weirdly 'cos he'd just realised how pretty Ava looked. He feebly tickled her back.
Then he clicked 'add to basket'.
"Right, cat or dog plushie?"

"Glows." Ava repeated with a slight giggle. "How unusual." She glanced at the laptop. "What do you think she would like out of the two?" She asked Java. She didn't want to pick cat and then have Kara hate it.

"I don't know her! I'm sure she won't mind either way. Which would you have liked?"
His message icon appeared. "That'll be mother with a picture!" He opened the message:
"Wow!" he said, and then let out a massive yawn.[[It's on yellow paper, so just pretend she's glowing! Got to do my German essay now! Ugh.]]

Ava thought for a second. "You should get her the dog. Everyone likes dogs right?" She asked herself out loud. She smiled to herself when she saw the picture. "I love her hair!" Ava laughed. She was so happy. She looked at Java when she heard him yawn. "Are you getting tired?" She aksed playfully. Ava played with his hair randomly.

"Okay then, dog it is!" he smiled, half at the picture, half at Ava playing with his hair. His hair only had a slight curl in it, unlike his sister's.
"No, I'm not tired really..." he said, right before he yawned again. "Maybe a little bit. It is getting late, I spose." He paused awkwardly. "Ava, just in case I don't get a chance again before Kara gets here..." he trailed off, and unthinkingly kissed her softly on the cheek.

Ava blushed when Java kissed her on her cheek. She giggled softly, not really knowing what to say. She was surprised. She turned toward him and smiled. She kissed him back on the cheek.

Java smiled, and whispered "You're cute when you blush." in her ear.
Carefully, he swept a lock of hair off her face and kissed her full on the lips.
Ava, I think I'm kinda in love with you. he thought to himself, though he would have thoughtspoken if he could have.
