User Image[ooc;; she isn't in the herd already, i plan on describing her previous life in her history but i figured this was a perfect opportunity to join right in.]

the day was not the opportune day for traveling. spring time brought showers and showers brought mud. it was safe to say ami was not pleased to still be alone after days of traveling. it may seem rather odd for a newly grown cow to be out on her own in such a dangerous season, but amitola had never let the odds get her down before. she had risked far more dangerous things then a silly little trek across the plains. that little trek in itself was quite strange; not that it was strange for a buffalo to leave his or her herd but for amitola to be the one leaving, well that was odd. the strawberry cream colored femme often questioned herself why she was leaving. she had a good home after all, a loving family and a strong leader to boot. but the problem lay with just that, the herd. it was too small, too boring. the days were monotone and left her little room to spread her wings. that was the reason why she left, the reason why she snuck off in the middle of the night to avoid the disappointing eyes of her siblings and the rest of the herd she previously called family.

silver striped hooves crushed the thick, thirsty grass of the plains. things were so quiet it was almost eerie. ears flapped forwards, only catching the squishing sounds her hooves made on the soft earth below her. while caramel eyes saw no sight of life on the vast terra, nares flared as the wind brought stench of a herd not far from the point which she stood. was that thumping sound her own heart? potentially. she could feel warm blood coursing through her as she grew more and more restless. weight shifted from side to side but she rather not move forward. dominants could be very territorial. she was a valiant fighter but it would be a shame to have a step towards the group be the last step she ever took. she knew nothing of this much larger herd, she was an outsider, a foreigner to them. as much as she hated putting on the innocent "i fear for my life look", she would hate to appear a threat. best lay low for a little while before making any moves.

Lal stared down the hill toward the newcomer. She had been told immediatly when the cow had stepped onto her land. Her black pelt hid her in the night. The fact that the female was here didn't bother her as much as the fact that it was night. She turned her blue eyes to the sky. Well... at least it wasn't time for the herd to be up...

She trotted down the hill to stop in front of the creamy cow."I dont know you... I dont care who you are...where you came from or how you got here... but you are on my land..." Her black ears were forward. Her blue eyes were clear. She would by the time the herd got up have chased the female away or granted her passage. She nodded to herself.

Lal simply watched the female. Her feet crushing the dewy grass. The dream catcher around her neck buried itself in her fur as the wind blew. "If you have something to say i suggest you say it before the herd wakes up..." She wasnt always this cruel but she was wary. it was after all dark. She snorted lightly letting her ears move forward and back listening to the snorts of the herd behind her.

((Its fine with me.... i promise she will mellow out ^^'))

User Image[ooc;; don't worry about it. ami can handle it.]

she had expected an alert of some sort. that was how it always was in her herd. maybe a guard, or a scout. what she hadn't quite expected was the dark as night female who was making her way towards her. auds picked up the sound before she caught sight of the cow. blinking rapidly she was able to make out only a faint outline being nearly blind at night and all. she shifted uncomfortably, feeling a little off guard and uncertain because she knew whatever happened was what she deserved. she was intruding in a way, though to be honest she hadn't exactly known where the boundary marks lay. the female had moved swiftly and ami wasn't particularly aware of her until two blue orbs bore right into her. frightened? not really. she stood her ground as she stood but the cow was bigger then she, and marked by the flatfeet all the same. ami had always had a little more respect for those who had made the venture. it showed bravery and trust, and those were qualities the femme enjoyed in another. but alas, she had to open her mouth. "I dont know you... I dont care who you are...where you came from or how you got here... but you are on my land...". she hardly expected a warm welcome and a prompt introduction but the comments started to make her tempers flare.

but of course, this was her chance, and the only hope she had at this point. reining in the fire that fought to get out, she lowered her bulky head in greeting and tried to speak as softly as possible. "i'm sorry. i hardly mean to trespass. i'm of no danger, i assure you. i am merely searching for a new home." that's right, be amicable. as long as the other didn't bite her head off she would be fine for awhile. it certainly was dark out and the moon cast evil and skewed shadows across the earth. the herd could no longer be seen from where she was and she was itching to have a place to rest for the night. "my name is amitola, all i am requesting is home on a trial basis." she assumed the black was the dominant if only from size alone. if anyone could do it she could give her passage.

Lal smirked lightly. At least the female in front of her knew herd protocol. "Yes...i see" She saw a lot. While buffalo eyes weren't good. she made it her job to look deeper into everything. Before the female lowered her head Lal had seen the fire burn. This could be fun.

With her sick sense of humor she found herself nodding. "In the Izli herd we let new comers in after they pass a series of tests." This wasn't true but The buffalo in front of her needn't know that. "You may rest tonight and we will start the tests in the morning... That is....if you think your up to it."

Lal was no where near old. She was young...and sometimes it showed through the mature mask. Her father had wanted her to grow up...so she did... and then there were moments she just couldn't resist being childish. She raised her head. "You may sleep over this hill. Its close to the herd but not among them... You may meet them after you pass my tests."She turned and walked back up her hill. She was after all... on guard for the night."Oh.. and we get up early...so don't think to sleep in..." She shook her head as she walked. home on a trial basis...that was a new one. With that thought she settled herself against the night to wait out the morning. Tomorrow...would be fun.

User Image[ooc;; sounds delicious.]

ami didn't like the feeling she was getting from the female. she could see the other eying her, picking her apart for whatever she could find. she liked the suspicion in a way. in all honesty though, there really wasn't much to be suspicious about. a little unpredictable at times, a potential liability for the herd, but otherwise, she was a pretty easy keeper. but amitola needed to keep her respect and her innocence for now. when she was a little more set in she could stir the pot a little bit. but for now, she best do as told. The comments from the dominant were a bit of a surprise. she tried to hide the smirk from shock at the idea that she actually had to be tested to get in the herd? what was this? prove your loyalty, your strength? this was completely new to her so she guessed anything went in these kinds of things. something tugged at her and she wasn't sure what, was it a look she had seen flash on the cow's face? pushing the thought away she simply stared with a silent defiance. she could take this, she could handle anything after all.

"of course i have no objections. i'm used to this sort of thing. my old herd tested all the time." it was a lie but a pretty smooth one. she didn't stutter or stop like many do, she kept eye contact and spoke articulately. the next comment was not as reasonable. she was expected to sleep on a hill...alone. she had been sleeping alone for a week and she was getting pretty darn sick of it. minding her manners though, she simply nodded her head in reply and flicked her tail at a passing. "don't worry, i don't sleep a lot. i'll be there." there, a little smugness maybe, but if this cow thought she could boss her around just because she was the newcomer, she should think again.

Lal laughed silently to herself...well... the female just gave her permission to make the test difficult... She watched the female waiting for her to do her bidding. She didnt control her herd....no she ruled it with a firm hoof and that was that. She didnt like disobedience, but she didn't punish it with death. She simply smirked and turned to settle in.

***

The next morning she stretched. She was watching the hill side and then when the sun rose she let out the call to wake up. It wasn't necessary but it was habit...most the herd was up already. With a careful glance around she decided the first test. "Uh...New cow.... Amitola..." She raised her head. "Come forward ive decided your first....test."
