After seventeen years of passing on the power, Power Rangers is coming to a close. In an recent interview a production manger has said, "In this stage, we will be producing no new material." Other sites, granted I haven't seen them myself, support this. So with a heavy a heart, I pass this information on.
Thoughts? Feelings?

In fairness. Shinkenger would be really hard to translate. I think they are throwing away a cash cow and really the only thing holding onto the boys market for them. PR has been a staple of every toy store for over a decade. Why give up now? Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is building up steam and I pray that maybe CW will buy it and make a super sentai hour.

That's how I feel. Why throw away something so successful, that had made you millions?! It boggles the mind. Then again, Disney did an number on every Sentai show they got, except for a few. So, I guess its for the best. I know someone will bring back Power Rangers and really bring out its potential.
As far as KRDK goes, I agree that its picking up steam and becoming highly popular. One problem though, 4Kids has it. And we all know what happens to shows that are under it. *Points to One Piece and other animes*

I really would like 4kids to pick up PR mainly because they would keep it non-cable. I think one of the worst ways to hinder sales and popularity is to go cable only. Right now the oldschool Saturday Morning Cartoon Block is going extinct and I think that networks should go back to capitalizing on this time when nothing else is really on. PR and KRDK are the only reasons I get up before noon on weekends. Keep shows on then and more kids can see them and this will drive sales. Right now only foxkids/4kids really work at capitalizing and with it's near monopoly they can tell kids what to buy and could push Power Rangers back to the top tier like it was in the early nineties.

*Imagines Power Rangers under 4Kids control and shudders* I see what you saying, but still, 4Kids....
Oh well, as long as Kamen Rider becomes popular and stays, I'll live. I'm just not liking the idea of Power Rangers under the control of the "anime killer."

I am happy as long as Kamen Rider doesn't have any of the stupidity of Saban's Masked Rider. You know the oh so ethnically diverse family and ughh....Ferbus.

Luckily, KRDK doesn't have that crap.

UDATE:
Power Rangers might not be ending after all. In a recent email, Bandai America, and possibly with Disney, seemed to discredit rumors, and claim that they'll continue with the franciase. Stay tuned for more.

I have little faith in Disney continuing the series as they had the audacity to fire the producer halfway through the series at episode 18 and would not even take his script layouts for the rest of the season. I am fearful of the series falling apart after the 18th episode.

Why in the blue hell would they do that?

Disney has never cared about the license that much but the exec producer was running behind schedule, picked up the pace, got back on schedule and heading home for Christmas with his family and they canned him. NO warning or nothing. They would not even let him pass on his notes to the new exec producer or anything. lame!

I think what we are dealing with is a similar situation to why Justice League Unlimited was cancelled.
While DC comics and Cartoon Network were both owned by Warner Bros, the profits from the toys and merchandise from JLU went to DC not Cartoon Network who aired the show. Cartoon Network cancelled it and produced more Network owned shows like Ben 10 and that ilk. Shows that were completely owned by them and therefore they had all the merchandising rights.
Disney may air the show and get a healthy percentage from Bandai on merchandising, but with Arron Stone and Hannah Montana they get all the merchandising rights with nothing to share, thereby they make more money.

This is just theory but it makes the most sense.
