Tattoo removal - what is the process?

This is not something i am considering, i just want to know if anyone has had this.

Did you find you no longer loved Bobby and got his name removed?
Did you get a terrible tattoo and decide you dont want the hideous thing there?

* Have you gotten one removed?
* What is the process? Is there pain?

There are at least two ways I know of for removing tattoos. The lazer treatment, or this stuff called Wrecking Balm.
