Do you write for fun? With the hopes of getting published?
Me, I hardly ever write fanfiction, so I try to perfect everything I write hoping that one day I'll see it in print.

I'm kind of confused on that subject, as I have no idea why I actually write.
I suppose I need to get my ideas down on paper. Because otherwise my head would explode.

I usually write because a story has appeared in my head and it won't leave me alone until i write it down. If what I'm writing is original fiction I always write with the hope that it will come out good enough to be published.

fun, mainly. I just like to think and put things down. most of the time they chase me anyway... sweatdrop stupid plotbunnies. and well, writing's therapy for me, shrink said I had to find a way to express myself and voila wink and well, getting publised some day would be a great plus, no? biggrin

If I don't then between the plot bunnies and my muses I'd go insane and there's already enough of that in my family.

silverferret I usually write because a story has appeared in my head and it won't leave me alone until i write it down. If what I'm writing is original fiction I always write with the hope that it will come out good enough to be published. That's what it tends to feel like for me - a story demanding to be written that keeps poking at my brain and won't leave me alone. I don't write to be published, though that would be a marvelous compliment, but I do write so that the story can be shared, otherwise it might as well just stay up in my head. I saw an interview with the author Timothy Findley once... talking about the characters in his head were like people on a sinking ship -- all jostling and yelling to be let out before the ship went down. The first thing I thought of when I heard he died was how many characters must have gone with him.

I write because I have too many ideas floating around in my head, and I need to clear them out so I can actually think. xp
Someday I hope to be an establlished author, but for the moment I'm content to publish my stories as free e-books, doing all the work myself (of course I have yet to do this; revision and editing come first sweatdrop ).

I write for many reasons. I do it for fun, because even though the people in my school don't believe it, yes, I do have fun writing. It's a way to get everything out (especially poetry). Writing is like my escape from the day, my escape from reality. I have a lot to deal with, and the only reason I don't need to go to freakin counseling is because I write so much.
And also, I am aspiring to become a writer. 3nodding I would love to see my works in print. My friends who read what I write tell me that it's so great, and I'm entering contests now to see if I can get a good head start. (I'm only thirteen.)

Let's see ...
I write because of: A) Entertainment <3 B) Self-satisfaction C) Uhm ... I guess it's a great method to decreasing the rate at which several thousand ideas run rampant through the mind, as well. D) ... okay, ran out of reasons ... it must be too early in the morning x__x
Edit: Oh about getting published. It's not that big of a deal to me because I haven't ever finished and perfected a story. In fact, the last time I've ever written anything was an analysis essay on Louisa May Alcott's story "Death of a Soldier" for my AP Lit class. I've only now got back into writing after a major writer's block - 1 year my longest time ever. :/
But now I'm ready so hopefully I'll put this beta guild to some use ^__^
