this is mostly just venting, but I really need new equipment....I want to be so reliable as a musician. I know not making alot of money doesnt help, but I'm looking into another job with the assistant manager that just quit where I work. But though I'm going to be doing vox for someone, I want to be more readily reliable.
Does anyone know where I can get GOOD AFFORDABLE equipment that wont blow a whole in my pocket, and wont short shortly after I get it, other than ebay?

the 2 i normally check first are ebay and craigslist, especially craigslist, because alot of the time people are willing to barter big time because they just want to get rid of the stuff, my friend gets guitars and stuff off there all the time for wicked cheap, and then turns around and sells them for more because he knows his stuff

check your local music stores frequently (although some music shops rape you on the price for used equipment they gave the previous owner almost nothing on)

also, pawn shops can be your friend, you never know what can pop up in there, and as long as you know your stuff, or are at least good at faking it, you can convince the people at the pawn shop that something they are selling isnt worth as much as they are trying to sell it for, also act barely interested in the item you are attempting to buy, even if you are about to wet yourself with excitement (dimebag darrel used to do this alot, even after he became well known and successful) ... also..if something on it hapens to "break" it can also be cheaper... Dimebag used to break the bottom e string on guitars in pawn shops and then complain it had broken strings and get it for cheaper.

Check thrift shops or even salvation army....yeah they get alot of crap, but there is always bound to be treasures once in a while

keep an eye out for businesses that deal in that kind of equipment that are going out of business

the internet in general is your friend

there are good forums like the gear page and i think there was one called the musician exchange or something like that

umm also some of the music equipment catalogs and websites have easy to obtain credit, especially musicians friend

i am sure i will think of more ideas later

Make sure you go over to guitarworld.com and enter their contests this month.... Especially the one being done by Sweetwater music..

They have 3 different sound packages you could win this month! That means 3 winners...which means odds of winning are increased. Also...check out what is in those packages...holy poop!
