Like I said there, this will make things so much easier... As long as you can turn them off if you don't want to recieve them

no, not out of laziness, there's just so many inexperienced guild captains that could abuse the feature. the option to turn them on/off is a good thing, though.

Moo-Moo-the-Monkey =D I can't help but refer back to Zaki when you say "inexperienced guild captains." I can just see some guild captains just spamming their guild members, of course thats their loss since I think if they spam them, many will leave (if they can't turn it off) or they will get so annoyed that they will leave or tell the captains. Really, its a great thing for guilds that have events that start at a certain time (like mine) and it will help update members that do not check the guild regularly. in my guild, you can easily miss something if they don't check regularly.

Know what you should add to the petitions? Let regular crew members to be able to send guild announcements but it'll have to be approved by a captain or a vice captain.

We know Mass PMs/announcements is a big deal, but as I've mentioned before, its a larger issue than folks realize (its not as simple as "just bring it back!). Since I started here at Gaia, its been on the Guilds HOT TOPIC list - actually, its been on the TOP of the hot topics list.
We need to build Mass PM/announcements so its scalable and stable and doesn't blow up our servers when a) people send the message and b) members retrieve the message. Additionally, we're always making sure that we are balancing resource allocation, cost and benefit with our projects, and sometimes higher priority issues (from a company stance) arise and we need to take care of those. Its not that we don't think this isn't important...think of it as if your car needs new tires and you're all set to go in and get new tires. On the way to the tire store, all of a sudden your engine seizes. You'll want to fix the engine first, as the tires can take you a little bit further but your engine is the heart of the car. Once the engine is fixed, you go get those tires. Maybe not the best analogy, but I hope you get the picture.
I won't discourage you from the petition (any attention to guilds is a good thing, I think!), but know that we're aware and its in the works. I just can't promise a date.

So is this an official position on that? It's really going to (eventually) happen? As long as that's true then I don't mind waiting.
