Just a Fan Fiction I am working on and I thought I would share the First Act with you guys. Let me know what you think. I am trying to include how Snake procures his Items and weapons(Except the Cardboard Box and Stealth Camouflage) and trying to keep it as true to the MGS series as possible with attitudes and how they say things and act.
Here it is.
Metal Gear R(TENTITIVE TITLE)
/ACT 1: INFILTRATION AND INTELLIGENCE/
Our story begins 6 months after the Shadow Moses Incident, in a camp about 20 miles southeast of Kotzeshoop, South Africa. Here we find a small but well armed group of soldiers preparing for a raid.
“Hear me brothers,” a voice echoed out into the crowd. “We prepare for war against the racist nations of the West.” The soldiers cheer as the words are spoken. “Rest well tonight brothers, for tomorrow we will create a new haven!”
“Otacon. I’ve infiltrated the new New Haven Soldiers Camp. It sounds like they are ready to go to war.”
“Okay Snake. We need to get pictures of what is stocked in the Weapons Storage Facility.” Otacon said with a tone of caution in his voice. “This is a sneaking mission Snake, there is no need to confront the soldiers here.”
“I know Otacon. Remind me again why we are here. We should be looking for potential Metal Gear derivatives, not sneaking around some base of a bunch of rag tag soldiers.” Snake seemed uneasy about this. It didn’t seem right.
“Sources say that this bunch may have developed a type of Metal Gear based on my own REX design. We need to find out if this is true, and if so, destroy it before it can be activated.” Otacon said with a nervous tone, as if regretful of the past. “Remember Snake, you have the Stealth Camouflage, so you should be able to sneak in and find out without being seen.”
“Riiiight…and just how am I supposed to destroy a Metal Gear without any weapons?” Snake said sarcastically, as if he already knew the answer.
“Come on Snake, now is not the time for jokes.” Otacon exclaimed with agitation in his voice.
Snake chuckles a bit, “I know, just making sure you are on your toes. I’m at the North end of the camp. Seems to be soldiers on patrol carrying AK-74u’s and M4 Customs.”
“The Weapons Storage Facility is to the south end of the camp, possibly underground. Look for an entrance to the facility and collect data on any and all arms you can. If you encounter any Metal Gear derivatives, you are to sabotage or destroy them.”
“Understood. I’ll contact you by CODEC if I need anything.” Snake then activated the Stealth Camouflage and began to head south.
“Snake. Do you still have that modified MK. 2 pistol I made for you?”
“Yes. Don’t worry…I doubt I will have to use it much.”
Snake slowly began entry into each tent, examining each for any secret entrances and weapons. In the first tent he found a P90 Sub-Machine gun and 2 clips of ammo. Between tents Snake would knock on creates to lead guards away from the entrances to the tents. Using the MK. 2 pistol to tranquilize the sentries as they approached, he then would enter each tent. When he got to the eighth tent, the guards were alerted to his presence.
“Alert! I’m under attack. Enemy location unknown. I need back up.” The call came over the CODEC.
“Understood. Sending reinforcements to the Mess Hall Tent. All units stay alert.” The response came over the CODEC. It wasn’t a burst transmission like Snake and Otacon used to communicate. It seemed as there was a central command post.
“Otacon. See if you can locate where that transmission was sent from. It may give us a clue to the Storage Facility.”
“Got it. Stay low Snake until I can locate the transmission.” Otacon seemed delighted, but also distracted by something.
It seemed guards were looking franticly for the intruder. Several had riot shields and M870 Custom Shotguns. Others had Thermal Goggles or ENVGs (Enhanced Night Vision Goggles) on.
“Otacon. It appears that the enemy is more equipped than we originally thought. Did you get that location yet?” Snake stressed with a sense of urgency.
“Almost Snake. I need a few more minutes. If I can get another transmission I can locate it.”
“Got it. I’ll lay low until they call off the cavalry then.” Snake said as he got into a dark corner and pulled out a cardboard box.
“Again Snake?” Otacon questioned with a bit of shock. “It works doesn’t it?” Snake let out a small laugh as he said it. “It fools the sentries and helps keep me hidden from prying eyes. And thanks to Mei Ling’s Soliton Radar I can keep track of enemy movements.”
A few minutes passed before the a transmission came through. “All Clear. Everything appears to be in order. Resuming regular patrols.”
“Understood. All backup units, return to base. Guards stay alert.”
“I got it Snake. It is about a half mile south from where you are at. I also got satellite shots of the area and it appears to be in a small wooden structure surrounded by tall cliffs to all sides but the north end. It looks to be about the only way in Snake. Be careful.” Otacon explained with great excitement.
“Thanks Otacon. See if you can’t get a detailed shot of the structure. We need to know if the structure is heavily guarded or not.” Snake seemed cautious, as if he maybe walking into a trap. He slowly made his way south, avoiding the guards. As he got to the last tent before the structure, he noticed some C4 next to the tent. He grabbed the C4 and made his way to the structure.
“Snake. It appears that it is in fact heavily guarded and seems to have a hidden door in the back…I can’t get any details beyond that. Looks like once you get in the structure, you’ll be on your own.”
“Heh. Going in blindly, an army versus myself. No problem.” Snake sarcastically stated with a grim tone to his voice. “Just like Zanzibar and Shadow Moses.” Snake sneaked his way in and got to the hidden entrance in the back of the structure. Looks like a cottage out in the woods, he thought.
“Biometrics. s**t,” he silently exclaimed.
“Otacon. There is a biometrics scanner here. It looks to only accept retinal patterns only. Can you over ride it?” Snake asked urgently, worried.
“Sorry Snake. You’ll need to get a guard to open it for you. Try forcing one to open it for you. But remember, they need to be conscience for it to work.” Otacon stated with certainty. “Try holding them up.”
“Great…” Snake sarcastically exclaimed.
