--Reflections and Hallucinations_Michiko_Part 1--

Smiling, Yomiko sat down in her desk, waiting for something. She did not know what, but she knew someone was coming. Silently waiting, the purple haired woman began to write in the little worn-out pale blue notebook that sat on her desk. She frowned as she thought about some things that came to mind. Slowly, memories of her hard past came back to her. All this time, she tried so hard not to think or even bring out the simple factors of her past life, before she made something of herself. It was her past life before she proved her worth to the world. Though she looked like an young adult, she was older than most people thought she was. Hell, she had to admit to herself that she was older than most of the Captains in the Thirteen Squad Court Guard. No. When she actually thought about it, she was the oldest Captain.

Shifting in her seat uncomfortably, the thought about her age made her a little uneasy. Heh, you wouldn't have thought that someone like Yomiko was self-conscious about herself. The Captain carried herself with an air of confidence but in reality, this so called 'air-of-confidence' was a false one. Yomiko was a master at 'acting', in the matter of hiding her feelings from the world. After all of these years, she was still the awkward, little girl who had no type of self confidence what-so-ever. She knew that this was a result of her brother and her fathers' no-so-silent emotional abuse towards her when she was young. The woman pursed her lips at the thought of her long deceased brother, whom hated her to the point where it was almost an obsessive hatred.

"Tsume..." She cooed to herself as she continued to write down her little story. The whisper of the name. That horrid name of the person that still lingered in her nightmares caused Yomiko to let a depressed sigh escape her lips. Though this might seem a bit off, but Yomiko was glad that the boy was dead and gone. A person would think that it is a very sadistic thought, but to Yomiko, it was not. If someone would've been in her shoes, they would've thought the same thing. He deserved to die. Just like he took away the lives of her younger brother and her friend, his life had to be taken as well. That's the way Yomiko saw it.

"You should stop yourself now...," Warned the sultry voice of her Zanpaku-to. If the aggressive woman was visible, her crimson orbs would've been beaming down at Yomiko, giving her a look of disdain. The angry woman knew her master well, since the Zanpaku-to was traditionally the extension of the owner. Persephone, the Zanpaku-to, knew what would happen if Yomiko dwelled in her past memories too long. Quite frankly, the woman did not want her Master in that type of position again. Instead of sitting back and allowing Yomiko to place herself in a position of insanity, the aggressive-fiery woman decided to dissuade Yomiko from going further. "Or do you remember the last time you did this? The last time you thought about Kazi or even your brother, or that girl, Michiko." At the mention of Michiko, Kazi, and Tsume, Persephone spat their names with such disdain. Persephone disliked anyone who caused harm to Yomiko or made her sad in any kind of way. The woman disliked the fact that these individuals took Yomiko away from her, thinking that they were going to make her happy but instead caused her to sink further in depression. Though she would never admit this to anyone, but at times she thought of herself in love with Yomiko.

Yomiko took heed to her Zanpaku-to's warning, but she couldn't bring herself to pull herself out. She was already in too deep, or so she thought. The woman took in a deep breath before speaking up. "Persephone... don't need to worry...," She whispered to the homicidal Zanpaku-to, who just growled in response. The Captain just ignored the growl while she shifted her thoughts to a more pleasant one. A small smile slowly appeared on her face as she thought about her old friend. No, she couldn't call the girl her old friend. This was her best friend, even after what had happened. Her thoughts shifted over to Michiko Saruwatari, her best and only friend from the Shino-Reijutsuin.

"I miss you...," Yomiko cooed again. Thinking about her old friend made her happy. Even though she didn't have a chance to thank her, but Michiko had a very strong impact in her life in more ways than one. Leaning back, Yomiko still had that same smile on her face. Her heart dropped when she thought about the times that she and her best friend had together. She had a lot of merry memories of the honey-wheat girl, but her most cherished memory of her was...

--The Death of A Brother___Part 1--

Once she snuck he friend out of the Royal Estate and took another nap, the 12-yr old girl laid on her back in the middle of one of her favorite gardens in the Royal Estate. The smell of freshly cut Azalea’s danced through the air. A cloudy blue sky hovered over above her small figure as the hot beaming suns’ rays pounded on her skin.

She loved being in this particular garden at the time. It calmed her and often made her forget about her long-term problems, like conquering this battle with her sickness and actually trying to learn this Zanpaku-to’s name. The long obsidian sheathed Odachi laid on the side of her. Tied to the Odachi was a worn brown chest strap, which enabled Yomiko to carry the heavy Zanpaku-to on her back, instead of carrying it in her hand all of the time. Traditionally, an Odachi was only used as a ceremonial piece as a symbol of war and was too heavy to use as a weapon. This put her at a disadvantage when she was practicing her Zanjutsu and caused her to be among the lowest of the low at the Shino-Reijustuin.

Yomiko wanted to understand why her grandfather gave her the sword instead of letting her use the original one she created out of her own reiatsu. She knew her older brother knew something, since he would always hint around about something that concerned the Zanpaku-to. When he did this, it made her very curious.

She could hear ruffling and the crunch of grass under someone’s feet in the distance. Yomiko ignored the person as they came over. She was thinking it was probably one of the servants sent by the family doctor to retrieve her for one of her treatments. The small girl sighed heavily, hoping… no pleading for it not to be time for one of her treatments.
Yomiko Shihouin was under one of her sick spells again.

“Yomi!!!” She heard the ever-so-identifiable call of her younger brother, Ryunosuke. The feet that continued to crunch the grass beneath it, came closer to her. Mentally, Yomiko breathed a sigh of relief. She was very glad that is was her brother instead of a servant or even worse, Tsume, her older brother. She was very, very glad.

Ryunosuke plopped down beside his sister, his golden eyes filled with wonder and curiosity. Every time she would look in them, they reflected the wisdom and knowledge that had been fed to him over the years. He smiled mirthfully at his sickly sister. He wanted to tell her something, something important, Yomiko can tell.

She often envied him because he was lucky. The boy was well liked and respected among everyone. Their parents showed more favor to him and Tsume than her. If it wasn’t for her grandfather, she’d probably been dead by now.

Ryunosuke was one of the lucky ones.
He was ALWAYS one of the lucky ones.

“I’ve been picked!” He burst out suddenly, unable to contain his laughter. Her brother’s laughter was soft, light, and mostly contagious.

Yomiko didn’t understand what her brother was talking about. What did he get picked for? She decided not to dwell on those thoughts, but joined in the laughter, too. His small arms embraced his sisters’ frame, hugging her tightly. He still continued to laugh and smile.

“I’m in line to become the next Tenshi-Heisoban, Yomi…”

--The Death of A Brother___Part 2--

News of Ryunosuke’s nomination spread through the Shihouin Royal Estate like a wild fire. The news sparked many cheers as well as jeers from other families inside the clan. Some of the candidates were equally objective and furious, especially from a certain individual. He was furious, though the expression on his face was as gleeful as can be when he found out.

Tsume Shihouin stalked down one of the many hallways that were in the Estate. His messy mop of black hair bounced up and down as his eyes were focused ahead. He was majorly, no, OVERLY pissed. He couldn’t believe that midget was picked over him.

HE was the overachiever of the three.
HE was the smartest.
HE was the strongest.
HE was the GOLDEN CHILD!
SO why wasn’t he PICKED?!

More questions were forming in the depths of his mind. He couldn’t comprehend as to why he didn’t get that title. He felt as if he was the embodiment of what the Tenshi-Heisoban should be. What did they see in Ryunosuke that they did not see in him?
WHAT DID THEY SEE!?

Tsume’s vision became blurry then a tinted red. His heart was racing and he was beginning to breathe hard. The man was now on the war path and no one was going to stop him.

The eldest sibling stomped down the corridors then turned into the next one. He had been down this corridor so many times before, often to get his supplies or to harass those two brats. Well, let’s just say one brat. That one brat, he felt, did not deserve life. He despised that brat with everything.
He hated HER.

Tsume stopped at his destination. The doors were closed, so that only meant one of three things and he highly doubted that is was neither of the three given choices. The man could easily feel the persons’ reiatsu lingering from inside of the room. He couldn’t take it anymore!

It was as if the reiatsu was taunting him, laughing at him. He gritted his teeth and tried to slow down his breathing but he couldn’t. The anger was pulsating through his veins. It felt as though something malevolent was taking over him. The deathly hollow voice in his head told him to kill.
Kill the opposing threat.

Tsume closed his eyes, balling up his fist tightly as he tried to fight the urge. He was trying to fight the urge to kill his younger sibling.

The door opened slowly to reveal innocent golden eyes blinking at him. The kid only looked to be like he was 7 years old. Soon, those golden eyes were shaped into crescents with a smile. The little naïve kid thought that Tsume was there to congratulate but little did he know why his brother was really at his door for.

--The Death of A Brother__Part 3--

Small feet shuffled among the wooden floor, trying hard not to slip on the floor. The golden eyes girl made sure that she had her balance when she walked on the newly polished floor, but she was so sure that she would slip. She knew she was a bit clumsy, since at the most important times she always managed to make a awkward fall. Yomiko continued to wobble, trying to maintain her balance.

The girl was on her way to see her younger brother, no actually, her grandfather sent her to retrieve him. She didn't have the slightest idea why her grandfather would send her to go get her younger brother in the first place. Wasn't this a job for one of the servants? If so, why was she doing it? Yomiko knew that she couldn't verbally question her grandfather about such things. The young girl was too loyal to him and it had nothing to do with his status in the Shihouin Family. She knew it had nothing to do with it.

Yomiko rushed down the hallway. The urgency in her grandfathers' voice was ringing in her head as she continued to rush down the corridor. She knew her grandfather was a patient man, but this task he had placed on her seemed important. In certain ways, he reminded her of her own father, but it was very clear that the two weren't the same. Her grandpa-pa didn't go flying off the handle when things didn't go his way. Unlike her father, he was a very calm person.

When she arrived in front of Ryunosuke's door, she knocked slowly. She didn't want to frighten the poor boy, like the last time. A small smile crept on her face as she thought back on that incident. The girl stood still for the time being, trying to see if she could hear him on the other side. She didn't hear him shuffling to the door instead she heard a whacking sound. Yomiko was unsure of what her brother was doing now, but she didn't want to keep her grandfather waiting. She knocked a little harder.

"Ryunosuke is getting ready at the moment! He'll be out in one moment!" Came the voice of Tsume. This piqued her interest. From what she understood, her older brother was supposed to be taking some lessons elsewhere. So, why was he in Ryunosuke's room of all places.

Her legs began to feel weak as she winced at the migraine that was sneaking up on her. The feeling of weakness began to take over her whole being once again. Yomiko leaned against the nearby wall for support. The symptoms were now showing. The girl cursed herself for not actually going to see her family doctor as planned. Yomiko knew if she didn't go see him, it was a possiblility that she was going to faint in the middle of the hallway, but she was determined not to let that happen.

Once she gathered herself back together, she went to open up the door to Ryunosuke. Quickly, she was going to inform Tsume that their grandfather needed to see Ryunosuke, but she was not prepared for what she was about to see...

A small, young boy laid on the floor with pools of crimson liquid underneath him. Those golden orbs of his lost their luster, now they were filled with the touch of a looming Death. They were dead. The small body was now shaking, trying to hang on to the last little bit of life he had in him. The liquid dripped out of his mouth as the elder child kicked him some more.

"Y-Yomi?" Ryunosuke managed to whisper to his sister, who was now locked in place. Sheh couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her heart literally stopped as she continued to witness what was happening to her brother. Yomiko wanted so badly to stop her older brother from doing this to Ryunosuke, but everytime she tried to move her limbs wouldn't let her. It was like her limbs were locked in place, not allowing her to do what she needed to do.

She wanted to save her brother.

"Y-Yomiko! W-Watch out!" Came the voice of her dying brother.

Before Yomiko could react, she suddenly found herself flung against the wall by Tsume. He latched his pale hands around her small neck. The older man pressed his body against hers causing her to gasp for air. She now found it very hard, which didn't help her at all. She was now feeling the familiar touch of fatigue wash over her. Yomiko let out a light groan of discomfort, she knew those symptoms were showing again.

"Little Yomiko should mind her own business!" Tsume growled through his teeth. Those golden orbs of hers stared into his dark ones. She took note that his eyes never changes around her. Those pools of his reflected the hatred he had of her. She could see it, she could always see it. The girl could see his hatred as clearly as she could see the sky itself. It mirrored the hatred she saw in her fathers' eyes whenever he looked at her. They both hated her and she did not know why.

"I-I don't c-care! Look what you are doing to Ryu! IT IS MY BUSINESS!" She spat back, struggling to get out of his grasp. Yomiko knew her attempts weren't working but she knew she had to try. She wasn't going to let this malevolent man take her brother away. The small girl struggled some more, the tighter his grip on his throat was.

"No b***h! It's not your business! Not now! Not EVER!" He yelled as he continued to tighten his grip on her throat. His dark, hateful orbs stared into her golden ones. Yomiko's eyes began to lose their youthful touch quickly. Fatigue's touch became heavier each moment while she was in Tsume's grasp. Her eyes began to slowly drop as the painful drum of the migraine came rushing to her. She winced once again, trying to hold out a little longer. Tsume let go of her quickly, causing her to fall onto the ground hard.

She winced at the pain as she tried to stay up. She wasn't going to give up now. Yomiko was determined not to let herself fall victim to her sick spell once again. But it was too late, she was already falling into that slumber. The darkness was already taking over and all she could hear was a blood curdling scream. She knew that scream...

--Reflections and Hallucinations_Michiko_Part 2--

"MY EFFING!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING MICHIKO?!" Hissed a young Yomiko. The hot Rukongai sun pounded down on the two girls as they stood near a street vendor as he sold his wares. The Honey-Wheat girl just smirked as the two, along with a crowd of spectators, watched the gambling game progress. With a mischievous look in her emerald eyes, Michiko watched as her gambling opponents contemplated on their decisions. Yomiko's wet, sweaty face peered over Michiko's shoulders with a heavy breath. The small girl couldn't be in the heat for too long. Simply because The Royal Princess couldn't take this heat, but she wouldn't let Michiko know that.Yomiko didn't want to her friend to think that she was so 'weak' that she couldn't stand the simple Rukongai Heat, even though that was the case. The Commoner Girl was her only friend, and she didn't want to lose her.

"I'm gamblin' Yomiko," Replied Michiko, as if it were nothing. In fact, it wasn't nothing to her. Gambling and stealing was two of the many things that she had to do in order to survive the Rukongai streets. On the contrary to what most Shinigami say about the Soul Society, this place was no walk in the park. To most souls that enter the Soul Society, the Rukongai was much worse than their previous life. The lies that the Shinigami fed them caused most souls in the Rukongai to dislike them. Families separated because of the 'soul-sorting' system. Small children dying on the streets because no one would take them in.All sorts of things made the Rukongai one living hell. Well, not a living hell, but a dead one. One of the only ways out of the miserable life of the Rukongai was to become a shinigami yourself. That's what Michiko trained for, to become shinigami. "You never gambled before?"

A small, half-hearted smile appeared on Yomiko's dark face. In truth, she didn't know what gambling was. Being sheltered inside of the Seireitei, with one of the most prominent families in the Soul Society, you weren't exposed to very much. It was times like this that she felt like a fool. It was times like these where she really started to question her place in the aristocracy of the Soul Society. These were times when she would question her place in Michiko's life. Yomiko let out an exasperated sigh."Of cour---"

"Don't even lie. You wouldn't have known... Don't even lie to me, Yomiko..." Michiko whispered to her in a dark tone. Yomiko instantly shut her mouth and identified the tone of voice she was using. Michiko used that same tone of voice when she found out about her secret, of herself being a Shihouin; one of the Four Noble Families of the Soul Society. Yomiko was of Noble Birth, one of the few rare births in the Soul Society. Because she was of Noble Birth, she was celebrated and fawned over wherever she went, much to her displeasure. The girl didn't like the attention people gave her. Just like now, she had to disguise herself to even blend in with the common folk just to hang out with her friend. Adjusting the turban like cloth on her head, she sighed and remained silent.

"NOW! GENTLEMAN! I WIN!" Exclaimed Michiko proudly, as she slammed her cards on the small table. Everyone around the table remained silent for a couple of minutes, unbelieving of what just happened in a matter of minutes. A young teenager, such a Michiko, beat four grown men in a game of gambling. Either this girl was a mastermind, or this game was rigged.Yomiko couldn't help but blink at the silent crowd. Within another moment, the crowd erupted in roars of cheers. Older men and woman clapped and congratulated Michiko on her win. This puzzled Yomiko deeply. Why were they so glad that she won against these guys? This was just a normal game of gambling. Not bothering to question it any more than she should've been, Yomiko just silently watched the crowd congratulate her.

"Now. Gentleman. My part of the deal, please. You'll leave this district as planned, right?" Michiko asked, with a grin that screamed 'I got cha now.' on it. Yomiko knew that grin when she placed it on her face. Michiko had something up her sleeve, she knew it. Though it wasn't until moments later when she finally caught on to what Michiko had said to the men. Leaving a district? What and who were these men Michiko just won against? Were they gangsters? Just what the hell was going on all of the sudden? Yomiko's golden orbs slowly went over to Michiko, then at the group of men, whose eyes shown the intent of murder. Just what did Michiko get them into----

A jolt of fiery energy shot through her, causing her to break away from that memory. It was all Persephone's doing, Yomiko knew. The woman would often do something of the sort to make her 'wake-up', well, if you would call it that. A part of Yomiko wanted to stay in that state of reminiscing, thinking about the good old days with Michiko. Being with that girl was truly the best days of her childhood. At times like these, Yomiko hated herself. She hated herself because she knew, at that time, she couldn't do anything to safe Michiko from her inevitable fate. There was one thing shecould've done, but in doing so, would she really be the person she was now? Would she be a better person than she was now? Would she be more strict? Or trusting and open with her thoughts?

Noticing the perspiration that accumulated on her face during her slight flashback, Yomiko wiped her face off. "I need to get out of here." The woman remarked as she rose out of her chair. Slowly walking towards the door, she felt someone watching her. In the corner of her eye, a shadow moved. Coming to a stand-still, she waited for whatever it was to come and strike her. She didn't know whom would want to attack her, at least, she couldn't recall anyone want to cause harm to her. Maybe it was her imagination. Yomiko thought that it would be the most likely reasonable explanation at the time. Even she had to admit to herself that she had a bit of an overactive imagination. Pursing her lips in slight annoyance at her imagination, Yomiko walked out of her office, locking the door behind her.

--The Meat Chronicles_A fanfic---

Byakuya Kuchiki's leg continued to shake quickly. Annoyed, the adjusted his other head over his gyrating one. He looked like a little child anxious to go to Chuck 'E Cheese or something. He frowned as he glanced at the food magazine on his desk. 'That looks good..' He thought, staring at the pork chop, drool almost escaping from his lips.

That's when his crimson-haired Fukutaichou walked in. He glanced at his Taichou's desk, seeing the magazine with the pork chop, he grinned. He still couldn't believe Rukia and Byakuya made this bet. Its apparent that his lover was losing. Byakuya didn't bother to look up at Renji, it probably wasn't anything important. That's when Renji spoke up.

"Taichou… you know you can always go to the Living World to get some.. I know Rukia hasn't alerted the stores down there." He stated. Byakuya looked up slowly from the magazine, turning the page.
"Hm… That's ridiculous, why would I got all the way to the Living World for that?" He asked frowning. He wasn't desperate enough to do something like that.

"Well I just wanted to let you know, Taichou, just in case." He stated, grinning to himself internally, knowing that the Captain probably will go.

Sometime Later...

Byakuya walked inside of store, kind of jittery. He covered his nose as the foul smell of cold air and meat hit him. Other than that, everything was good and gravy to him. He was in the human world in a meat store. He was just glad Rukia didn't alert this one. He walked along the freezer, glancing at the various cuts of meat. Pork chop, prime rib, neck bones, all of this made him drool, internally of course. It wouldn't look right if someone of his breed would exhibit such behavior in public. Byakuya grabbed all he could hold in the basket. He strolled to the register. The man at the register glanced at Byakuya for a moment, deciding if he should crack on him or tell him that there is no anime convention in town. The man, instead shook his head slowly, scanning the items.

"Two thousand, seven hundred fifty dollars and fifteen cents." He stated. Byakuya grunted as hre felt his shihakusho for his wallet. He frowned as he padded himself one more time. 'Great…' He thought. 'I came all the way here for nothing…'That's when he felt something in his pocket. He almost forgot he had those. The Kuchiki did something every, Un-Kuchiki like. Byakuya pulled out that Black Ski-Mask so quick it didn't even make sense. He placed it on his head with a not loaded faux pistol in his hand. He cocked it to the side, pointing it to the cashiers face.

The cashier gave him a worried look as he put his hands in front of him. "What do you want?" He asked. "Put the damn meat in the bag!" Byakuya yelled, trying to imitate the same exact scene he saw in a movie, he and Renji saw once. The cashier hurriedly put the frozen meats in the bags as Byakuya tapped his foot impatiently. "A-Anything else?"

Byakuya glanced around at the counter. There was nothing that he actually wanted, but the meat. "No. I'm quite done actually. Good day, sir." Byakuya stated as he grabbed the bag. He walked out of the store, with his ski mask on, like nothing happened. He glanced around to see a car pull up. The window rolled down, with that ever familiar grin. Byakuya ran to the other side of the car, opened up the door quickly as he can, then got it. "GO! GO! GO!" Byakuya yelled as the cashier walked outside with a shotgun, ready to shot them. Renji pushed it to the limit, getting out of there as fast as he can, living a skid mark in the process. Renji laughed as they sped down the street, Byakuya just looked through the bags. "We should have a cookout…"
