I have a hard time naming this diary so I'll just keep it like this until I find something suitable.

Discovery

A man stood among the worn rubble and the rusted steel pipes. He, like many others, was dismayed at the sight of his home planet. Once a beautiful thriving planet, now Earth was only a dry corpse. Since the end of World War Four, Earth began rotting away from the greed of humans. Greens no longer grew, oceans dried, and air was tainted. It was no longer suitable for life and the humans built space ships and set out for a new home in among the stars.

Every now and then, an exploration team would be sent back to Earth, to uncover any valuable resources left on the dead planet. If they were lucky, they would find old documents or books to examine.

A woman jumped from the broken building and onto the ground below, her eyes filled with weary. It was the final day for the exploration team and a military ship would arrive in an hour. It was another failed mission.

A pair of clumsy had reached into the rubble as another began to clear out the surroundings. The young man pulled out a worn notebook. The spine was fragile and some pages were faded or lost. He looked at his companion and the other nodded. He rose from the ground and shouted to his commander, “Dr. Lacy!”

The woman turned to him and maneuvered through the rubble. He handed her the notebook and her eyes lit up with amusement. She smiled at her troop, “Good job, my boy. You found a record from the Devil’s War.”

Day 1

My name is Fumio Ito. I am a Japanese medic stationed in the capital of Germany at a US military base. This is a standard government issued notebook given to every troop in the field. We’re required to write in this book to relieve stress, or so they say. Today was my arrival at the base. Germany is quite different from Japan. The skies are gray and the ground is stained with blood. An American boy was nice enough to show me around, although I felt he only did it because he found me attractive. Every time I glanced at him, he would blush.

The infirmary had an extra room in the back where the medics slept. I thought it was strange since it's unusual to sleep near the wounded. But they told me it would be easier to reach the patients if an emergency where to happen. It makes sense, but I still feel a tad uncomfortable about it.

There was only me and a handful of others operating in at the base. When I first stepped in the patient room, it reeked of death. There were many soldiers lying on beds and some on the ground. Most were badly wounded and a few were horribly disfigured. I ran outside as soon as I could and regurgitated my lunch. Some of the boys saw and chuckled at me. I couldn’t help myself; it was nothing I have ever seen in my life.

When I got myself together I went right to work, even though the commander told me to start the next day. I couldn’t leave these people in pain like this. A medic’s job is a hard one, but it’s worth it if you could save a few lives. This was why I decided to go into the medical field.

There was one medic that caught my attention. Her name was Lorelei. She was a surgeon around my age, maybe a little older, but she was beautiful. She was also American. She too was kind to me. There was another person who intrigued me. It was a Canadian solider. He told me he lost his arm when he caught by the Koreans. They cut it clean off when he refused to tell them any information of France's plan to invade Italy. Brave man he was. He would have bled to death he the US troops didn’t attack the fortress.

I suppose that’s all I can write for today.

It is really hard to make adjustments to something like because you are writing a diary of a person who does not exist. So correcting the writing and asking to elaborate is a bit of a chore because a medic on the field of battle does sit there and write metaphorically. However, because you are writing what someone else is feeling, to make this more believeable, you need to start writing about how this person feels. What it was like to be in such a place. I know that he got sick and ran out, but how did the sight make him feel? Not just what he did. Was he disgusted, scared, sad? There are many things that can make a person sick, we just need to know which one that is.

That is the only advice I can give you at the moment, however, I would like you to utilize that above information to start adding to this diary. It would sound a bit more believable. ^^ Otherwise, it is a good first start.

Ohhh! This person is Japanese! Question: Is this character a boy or a girl? Hehe, in the beginning the person wrote about an american boy having a crush on him/her and near the end s/he talked about some pretty american girl.
I think, hope, it's a boy. But I wouldn't mind if it was a girl too.
One thing I've come to realize about this character.....s/he sounds really smart. xD

Ramen Fox : Fumio is male and he is smart, he is a medic after all xD

He is calculative and emotionless at the start, so I guess that's why I didn't write that much about his feeling. But its gonna change pretty soon.

Day 5

Lorelei asked me out to lunch today. Funny thing was that it was near midnight. I found it odd and exciting. No one ever asked me out before because I was considered a nerd. I didn’t know what to wear. I mean, all I had were bloodied lab coats. I was afraid that Lorelei might think I was messy. Steven was on duty, so I asked to borrow his slacks and dress shirt. They were much bigger on me, but I thought it was better than nothing. When I left the infirmary, I found that she had worn the lab coat she asked me out in. I felt like a fool for trying to look so formal. This is a military base after all. There’s no need to dress fancy, which made me wonder why Steven had such nice clothing with him.

I was glad Lorelei didn’t mind though. She actually… laughed. She laughed a lot and told me I looked like a nervous boy meeting with his prom date. I wasn’t sure, but I felt the blood rushing to my face and, soon enough, I was laughing with her.

We went to the mess hall. There were a few people in there, including Aaron. He waved at us and then winked at me. I guess he figured we were on a date. He was writing shakily with his left hand. Lorelei told me he had been practicing since he recovered, although he still has trouble. I admired Aaron. He was strong and determined, something I thought I could never be. Ever since the day I came to this base and met him in the infirmary, we’ve become very good friends.

Lorelei heated some leftover pasta from dinner. We talked for hours. She told me she became a medic to save lives. When she was fourteen, Lorelei witnessed her brother’s death. They were escaping from German soldiers who invaded her town. One of them shot her brother, while he was trying to protect her. Lorelei did all she could to save him, but she was too young and had no knowledge of treating advance wounds. American soldiers saved her and took her brother’s body for burial. Since her brother’s death, she was inspired to become a surgeon.

I can’t remember anything else she said after that. I’m embarrassed to say I was too captivated by her eyes. I never noticed before, but her eyes were beautiful. They were kind, sincere, and full of life. Her eyes were the same colors as mine, brown. I guess I never noticed because they were always hidden behind goggles. She wore them during surgery. There was something genuine about Lorelei, but I can’t put my finger on it.

I think… I might be in love her.
