Umleitung was out for a stroll in the park. It was a sunday and most humans were still sleeping: so the park was nice and empty. Early spring wind blew a warm and gentle breeze through the trees and through Ummi's feathers. He was munching on a bag of seeds that he brought with him. It was a wonderful day. In the corner of his eye Ummi spotted another pidge. Her inking is what caught his eye first. It was a unique color scheme. The day made him so cheery that he couldn't help but greet her. "Good morning," He said. If he had been a weather watcher he wouldn't have been so happy. Large clouds were quickly coming in overhead. Soon a ferocious spring storm would be devouring the sky.

The scavenger had been trying to get some work don before others showed up, glad of the lack of company both human and pidge. The timid female startled a bit when she heard Umleitung, and her feathers puffed out a bit. She quickly stowed her latest find in her bag, watching him warily. As shy as she tended to be, she didn't recognize the male due to lack of interaction with the other members of the flock. It never hurt to at least try to be polite, though. "H-hello..."

Ummi walked up to her. "I haven't seen you around the flock before.," he said. Well actually he hadn't met many pidge in the flock. He usually worked at night and slept all day. This morning was the end of a long night of star studying. Ummi wasn't tired though; not with sunny weather like this.
"I'm Umleitung and you are?" he said. Maybe he was being a bit too forward but he was glad to meet someone.
Rain prepared to poor from the clouds above him.

"I-I-I..." The female flushed under her feathers, completely mortified. Why did she always have trouble talking to others? She glanced up at the clouds, hoping that she could get the words out if she wasn't looking at the other pidge.
"R-River Nile... I t-tend to stick to m-m-myself." Truth be told, she only had one friend within the flock, Chorus Line.

"River Nile," he repeated, "You see that's a beautiful and rational name. My family wanted to be "traditional" and give me some wacko name from across the sea." He shook his head and rolled his eyes. "But I digress. I believe I've surprised you with my overly forward greeting. Either that or I just look really scary and hideously ugly." He put his wing over his face. "Better?"
Ummi didn't know why he was so happy go lucky. This behavior was unnatural to him. Maybe he just really missed the light of day, maybe he was happy to be talking to someone, or maybe he just really didn't want River Nile to be nervous. Whatever the cause, Ummi was acting silly and void of his naturally serious persona.
