It is the early 20th century in an alternate universe: one where Alchemy exists. Alchemy...the science of acting on the basic structure of the world, breaking things down and then reshaping them as desired. Almost anything is possible for an alchemist...provided the alchemist is willing to pay the price.
Edward Elric is just such an alchemist. While he and his brother Alphonse attempting to bring back their dearly departed mother, an accident occurs. Ed loses his leg, and Al... his life! Fortunately, Ed captures his brother's soul and commits it into a huge suit of armor...at the cost of his arm.
Time passes. Ed (now possessing prosthetic metal limbs) gains notoriety for his alchemy skills, earning his nickname, "Fullmetal Alchemist". Now, he and Al (still contained in that suit of armor) journey the world in search of the fabled Philosopher's Stone, the artifact Ed believes can help him to undo the damage wrought upon them and restore a full and happy life to both brothers.

i love fullmetal, it is in my opinion the best anime ever made.
that said i've still seen things that contradict in the show. like in epi 4 majahal turns a screwdriver into a sword without a philosiphers stone.

that said. i also wanna know how many people watched ed fight greed on saturday, i can't wait for tomarrow nights episode. . .it'll be teh Roxzorz!

The Japanese sounds better in my opinion.. and the Manga is much different from the anime.. but they are both very awesome and original ^^

i love this anime and the only thing i can say about it is that it has a really crapy end-but i think that about a lot of animes-

To tell you the truth, I don't really like this anime that much. I would admit that its awesome and I was touched by that episode in which they show how Ed and Al became the way they were. I think it was episode 3 or something. But any other episode was just too odd to me. And I swear they randomly show episodes on Cartoon Network. 'Cuz I keep seeing the same episodes being played over and over again in such a short amount of time.

thats because cartoon network is f'ed up.
basically they're showing the new episodes on saturday at around 10:30 and right now their on epi 36 or 37 (can't quit remember offhand) then on monday tuesday and wensday they show what has already aired at around midnight.

I thought FMA was an awesome anime!!! xd I wasn't a big fan of the ending of the series, but I'm definitely looking forward to the movie!!! whee

wow, if anyone watched cartoon network last night, epi 38 (holy mother) was on. spoilers below highlight to read.

I thought it was good, but if you had already read the manga the fact that the Fuhrur(probably misspelt Fuhrur) was a Homunculi, however it took them forever to find out about it in the manga. I also now official want to kill Kimbley for even thinking about making Al into a bomb. Scar should've killed him when he had the chance, evil S.O.B.

Since the manga and anime differ by episode 28-29 on the anime and chapter 20something of the manga i'm excited to see what happens next.

i dont think they can make any new eps in jap because the ending was kind of.... final....... yea watch the last ep and youll know wut i mean...
