At a secret research laboratory/prison, a Diclonus named Lucy escapes. The Diclonus are a mutated version of humanity with powerful psionic capabilities. Lucy was particularly abused during her imprisonment, and in her escape she bloodily kills those who attempt to stop her. However, as she made good her escape, Lucy is shot in the head.
Now without her memories, and without the ability to talk, other than saying "nyu", Lucy is taken in by two lonely teens. Lucy, or Nyu as the teens call her, adopts a new personality, one without her bitter memories. But how long will it be before her old personality resurfaces?

I love the series. It was really well done. You really felt the characters pain and you were drawn into their world. The action is wonderful and it has a great story. Some animes out there have all action, but the story is weak.

The last two volumes of Elfen Lied are my favorite because they tell you how things got the way they are. You get to find out how Lucy became the way she is.

There were some things about the anime that weirded me out, but I'll go into those later.

Does anyone know if Advfilms is going to release the OVA or not? I'd like to see what they'll do with it.

Elfen Lied is pretty cool BUT since nobody else here has said it, I will.
For anybody that is maybe wanting to see Elfen Lied and hasn't yet.
BE WARNED! I don't know about the manga BUT the anime is very detailed in it's gore and it does have partial nudity. The nudity not so much if I remember BUT the gore is pretty high up and can be almost disturbing at times.
(like when those little kids killed the doggy T-T)
BUT all that set aside and such...I really liked Elfen Lied, not my favorite, BUT it is pretty good and worth a watch if you can stand some of the emotion and gore in it.

I like this series alot. People told me I wouldn't be able to stand it, but when I saw the opening, I knew I was in for a great series. biggrin
