So I was wondering if anyone has heard about this?
Here's the article. http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/new-tech-could-make-consoles-obsolete/1299562

Sounds like GameTap, but you get the actual console-like experience instead of buying accessories and controllers. I assume we'd have to pay for each game. It'll be sad to lose the pretty boxart and manual art.

Sounds kinda like Xbox Live Arcade a bit, or like SoraMee said, Gametap. I feel it "might" be kind of a gip. The service is not gonna be around forever like the Sega Channel and Xbox Live Arcade (or in Japan, the PS2's online services with fighting games and some select games) once the service ends, there goes all your games ._. When you have carts/discs you have the game for as long as you want unless it gets physically damaged or you sell it off xd Plus the newer games take up ALOT of space which I think that little box might not hold or transmit at a proper rate. Plus like gametap and Wii VC I assume not ALL games are gonna be available, especially obscure ones or imports. I am quite the import enthusiast so this service doesn't sound too good to me talk2hand Besides there's emulators on the PC and the old soft modded Xbox 1 with a bigger hard drive that works just fine for any system below PS1 oh and most MAME/Neo Geo games biggrin and I assume Xbox 360 and PS3 will be able to be soft modded to emulate old system games, and aside from the initial cost of the Xbox 1 and the initial game to soft-mod the system with, the games are free (as long as you find the rom or dump it if you own the game IRL) whee

It looks good but it would be even better if it lets you grab any game you own and play it there. Not to mention that if you could buy some sort of credits for it, and through that buy games from other services... well... I doubt any of the companies would let you download games from their services even if you paid for them through a different service or something. Who knows...
