Repost from Kurse Once again, the Gathering of the Clans is upon us. As usual, it will be held at Bonito Lake campground in Ruidoso, New Mexico. The dates are July 22-26. Prices: $5 BL fee + $10.75 site fee per day, per vehicle. Load everyone up into one vehicle and save. There will be a lighted ditch field, the role-play tavern along with the usual tavern, feast, and the an assortment of battles and events TBA. We're looking for volunteers to run games and events, run feast, and help with gate. If you'd like to volunteer for anything or you have an event you want to run, contact me at lordofthehunt666@yahoo.com and we'll get it on the schedule. We've also decided that one flood is one too many. As such, we've ordered dry weather so leave your flotation devices at home. I encourage everyone that can afford it (or beg/borrow your way) to attend Gathering of the Clans at least once in your Amtgard career.
For those here that aren't aware of Clan's importance:
Gathering of the Clans is THE ORIGINAL inter-kingdom event held every summer in the mountains of New Mexico. Since it's beginning, it's been the Mecca of Amtgard events.
Every kingdom in Amtgard will be represented there, and if attendance is anything like it used to be, then be prepared for trenches and battlegames with easily 100 players PER SIDE!
Nothing is a better combat-learning experience than the trenchfield at Clan.
I may be biased, but you won't truly experience Amtgard in full until you experience Gathering of the Clans.

This fated event is a mere week away.
I will be attending as will nearly the entire Kingdom of the Golden Plains. If you never make an amtgard event again, this is the one to go to as your last. Golden Plains supports this event fully every year and we are honored to be able to hold our midreign alongside it.
Seriously, Mren isn't lying. This is the event of events. Even considering last years devestating flood attendance soared to a new record for Clan, with numbers averaging around 500+ attending this event each year.
This is the place to be next weekend and I encourage everyone to call in sick to work and GO! I am, hehe!

Yeah I wish I could find a way to go. Mundane first though, I got a lot to do til I can afford to take off for something like clan, though Spring War might be doable next year....

I'd love to make it out to one of these big events sometime, seeing as how I was introduced to Amtgard in a backwoods park and am now in the Amtvoid trying to start a park myself.

Those of you who do go, ya gotta post stories, ya know! Heh, all THE BEST amtgard stories start with "No s**t, there I was at Clan..." And oddly enough about 30% of those continue on a path similar to "No s**t, there I was at Clan, when Forrest...." ROFLMAO!!!!

no pics from me this year. My phone died early on.
And I do believe Axgar is where it started.
One of my favorite scenes this year was him yelling "Axgar's single!" during IK court. I asked him later why he didnt just make a girlfriend with all the spare parts he has lying around. ROFLMAO!
Thats only going to be funny to those who know what Axgar does for a living. If you don't it does no justice to hear it from anyone but him so meet him and ask him one day!
