Overall Review: Not on my number One favorite Album from Rammstein, but it has some very interesting new songs to it that are worth listening for. Also, I put in my notes certain little bits in each songs that were rather interesting or amusing to me. ^^ I hope you enjoy my review! biggrin
*THIS HAS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE SONGS!*
Song for Song Review:
Benzin- Hard and pounding. Just the way I like my Rammstein. It's like a monotones of 'Rammstein' song with a mix of something new. Overall, it's a good song for the tried and true Rammstein fans. No much digging in the ways of lyrics. Till made this one rather loud and clear what it's about.
Mann Gegen Mann- Hard song with deep meanings for those being put down for being gay. It's a rather catchy song that you feel like doing a jig to. I'm reminded of how catchy i thought 'Keine Lust' was, and this is how checky this one is. You listen to it once, and say 'That song was pretty good....' then you end up playing it on repeat for an hour without noticing that's what you did. Till's yelling is addicting also.... and the way it breaks down to being a really soft melody in the middle, then kicks a** with the drums. We love you Schneider. heart Let's not forget Oli' really awesome bass in this one... you can hear it better on the break-downs. I'm in love with bass guitar (as anyone of my friends will say) and this song just rocks..
Rosenrot- One of the Rammstein songs that have a quiter intro with an almost electric sounding of the guitars. Then, the rest starts up. It's very rythemed and seems to be a slightly new type of Rammstein song. It's lyrics are based off a poem, or short story. It's a very good transition and the chorus is rather catchy. The way Till says 'Rosenrot' is something to grin at. I found that I really liked this song.... alot.
Spring- The beginning has those creepy organs sounds, like Heirate Mich did, but much more complicated keys and it fits with the guitars. This song is quiter then I thought it would be. WHY HELLO THAR interesting Till voice right before he said 'Spring'. Like a growling type thing. I like. If you can't tell I'm giving this review as I listen. The lyrics seem to be about a sucide jumper who second guesses what he's doing. Before he can change his mind though, someone from the crowd (the singer) kicks him off in order to not disappoint the crowd awaiting below. The song really does remind you of falling and has calm little momemts along with a rocker chorus. Not the best Rammstein song but we fans have the bar set so high, don't we? Well, I do really like the keyboard sounds and the chorus. WOOT!
Wo bist du- ...wtf is that? A flute? Sounds sorta like it- whoa! Why hello there guitars! *headbobs* Hmmm must say this is interesting. Till's voice is realling sing-songy like it was in Ohne Dich. I was expecting more like 'Du Hast' because of the lyrics. That was a bit of a shocker.... HOLY CRAP! Till's REALLY singing in this one... like holding notes, extending the sounds and really singing... this is cool. Really cool backgrounds on the keyboard by Flake. *bows to him* I must say, Flake has been impressing me on this one. And Till's singing has improved. This is more like an actual singing song, unlike most rock songs, where yelling is a good thing. As a fellow singer, I admire Till for this song. Thumbs up from me!
Stirb nicht von mir (Don't die before I do) - ...ok.... Rammstein... I know you like the whole Country thing from 'Los' and all that but.... *slaps them* No! Bad Rammstein, Bad! The beginning reminds me of a chesy romantic flick music... so does the rest of the guitars. The woman's voice is good, but... She really shouldn't be singing Rammstein. She sounds like a country star, which she probably is... which is why she's singing country. Please Till... I know you can cover this song and make it rock... just cut off the chick, please. He sounds like a pining lover... *shrugs*..... now that I'm really listening to it.... the girl in me is swaying this music... oh god no... *runs off* Well, if you like duet songs, which aren't really my taste, this is pretty damned good for mixing english and german together. Not my cup of tea... really..... Stop! You don't notice me hitting 'Play' in this song again... shut up... ninja
Zerstoren - What is with Rammstein and wanting to hear random chicks in their songs now? Hmmm... *mumbles off* Well, Till sounds awesome as always. No doubt there. Well, when you get past the chick part... which only takes up the first six seconds of this song....and random 'breathless sighs' during the chorus...*head bangs* Need I really say more on this? OMG... Till pants/moans towards the end... BIG thumbs up from me for this one! Wow... drum solo anyone? A quick one though... then some weird sound effect on Till's voice so he sounds like he's singing from a music box or something... I wish my music box played that... *pouts*... I like this song. 3nodding
Hilf Mir - Just when you think there will be a random chick in the songs from here on out... *sigh happily* Ballad. I really like the beginning/intro to this one. The guitars do this weird/cool cut off with a pause. It's rather good and I didn't think Rammstein would ever do the typical Rock thing like that. It's very good though. Rammstein flavored through-out it all. The lyrics will make you tilt your head and wonder what will be on stage for this one... hmmm.. dress is burning eh? Well, get to it Till! xd Wait a second... is Till doing his own back-up singing? ... he is.... I like it and the child-like paino playing in the background towards the end... *grins* Flake... you know I love you right? ...Just Checking...
Te quiero Puta! - Well.... I certainly wasn't expecting THAT introduction to the song.... very mexican in the beginning. .....*slowly spreads a grin* Till's singing Spanish... *still can't get over that* I must say, I like it dispite the chick in it... can you tell I'm not too hot on hearing random girls in my Rammstein songs? Not too hot with the trumpets but... it's catchy... as hell.... *does a jig to it* WHOA.... WTF.... *blinks*... now... I REALLY didn't expect that... this chorus full of... whoa... I don't think I'll spoil this for you guys. It's not Rammstein style... but hearing Till scream 'Puta' at the end is worth listening... *grins* hehehe... Till is singing Spanish... whee I don't think I'll get over that.... rofl
Feuer und Wasser -All of my Rammstein friends know I fell in love with the sample for this song, so I must get it out of my system before reviewing it. Alright... I'm hitting play now. Such a quiet intro... and queit singing from Till. He sounds like he's really aching in this one. I love it... so very much... oh and that awesome cracking of the voice... It makes it seem so very sad... and the lyrics match it, talkinng about how no matter how much he wants this woman, she's out of his reach and she won't bother with him. WOW... it picked up very suddenly with the guitars and now it's freakin' rocking! *sings alongs* I love this song even more!! One of their best ballads! It's very emotional AND has a kick a** guitar pounding to it in the second chorus!
Ein Leid - They really are liking these quieter introductions. Rythemic guitars are enough to make you drift off to sleep in this one. A calm lullaby sounding from this one. If it weren't for the lyrics being very Rammstein-ish, I would send a child off to sleep with this one. ...bass... I like deep rumbling bass sounds... I think I'm falling asleep... this song is very soothing unlike most Rammstein songs... in fact... I don't think ANY of their songs are soothing like this one. It's an extremely calm and rather... un-Rammsteinish song. I like it though. 3nodding It's nice to see the boys going in a different direction every now and then.
These aren't guidelines on whether or not to buy the CD, but my own thoughts of these Songs as I listened to them. Each one but Benzin and Rosenrot where done, on the spot as I listened to them for the first time! So, all of these are FIRST impressions. Please don't take them too seriously. Thank you!
