Hi.
First of all, I had to get some thoughts out of my head. And to have little use of it, take it as an example of a one way to handle placing a scene at RPs. This is just (one of) my way(s) to do things.

I did try to separate some basic elements of creating a scene, going from big picture step by step to close-up. Starting from the planet, then saying few words of it to give better impression of what kind of place it is and slightly why. Then closer to city and what lives there, also a little hints of why that planet is called "the armpit of galaxy" and what a character I played thinks of it. He isn't least bit comfortable there, but there is a reason for being in such a place and a possible starting point to long and wide story.

This serves also as an example of using existing background material. Every place and detail I'm referring to can be found from movies and Wookiepedia. Character I'm using is from tabletop roleplaying campaign where I am a player.

Some readers might find similarities to certain smuggler named Han Solo and he meeting certain Rodian named Greedo that lead to certain grand events we know as Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. wink

My apologies for all the typos and grammatical mistakes... Further examples and conversation and comments are encouraged.

Theme, Star Wars, lone ranger solo scene.
Location, planet of Tatooine, Mos Eisley spaceport, Chalmun's Cantina.
Character, Nautolan captain Ezra Verda.
Story destination, to search and find lost person.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

Actually, to be precise in Tatooine. A planet that is called the farthest place from the center of the universe by a certain young man named Luke Skywalker. No one at Tatooine couldn't care less what he has to say about Tatooine and if happened, many would agreed grinning widely. Tatooine as being a desert world in Arkanis Sector has little meaning to sectors at Inner Rim. Especially for that Tatooine has build up a very bad reputation, often referred as a cesspool of the galaxy for the large amount of crime on it.

Middle of the hot sand dunes lives and fights a population of mixed races and creatures, who all either want out of there or want to keep themselves out of the attention of rest of the galaxy. To captain Ezra Verda, it was place to search for a one such person who wanted nothing to do with the rest of the world. After landing his black E-9 scout ship outside the vile spaceport of Mos Eisley, task he was on seemed more and more desperate. Sand colored buildings and wide streets were sprawling of creatures, shouting and huge creatures that Nautolan captain had never seen. Or cared to see ever again what came to the matter. He was clad from head to toe in heavy brown and black clothes and cloth covered his face and head, protecting from bright sunlight. As a being from watery planet, he had no liking of dust and dryness. His large shark-like eyes were covered by darkened goggles to keep sand from hurting his eyes. And a creature like him was there, voluntarily.

No. I need to take that back. This was not about free will, but of duty and need. Tatooine, among its other unpleasant traits, was famous of its Jabbas and slavery. When you were in search of someone missing, it was good to check such places just in case. Jabbas tended to have their ugly hands on everything and a taste for pretty things. Must be for compensation... Cantinas near the docking bays were good enough place to start such a search. A source at Anoth System, human pilot he'd worked some standard years before, had recommended to start from Chalmun's Cantina. Now when tall captain was standing in front of it he knew there was troubles coming wanted he those or not. He had no choices left though. Steadying himself and checking the hidden Imperial blaster by his side, black coated captain stepped through the door against the sea of voices and loud music of rough cantina...

Later add: Why Star Wars and not something from FFs? To keep anyone from being distracted by details and still using something that most surely everyone know something about.
