So Fullmetal Alchemist 2 made it's debut in the world of anime Yesterday. Firstly I would have to say Shinsen subs did an amazing job of getting it and translating it within mere hours of air time and also making it good quality. (hope I don't get in trouble for mentioning them.) I hope they can keep it up through out the series.

So where to start. I suppose the first thing that hits you when you start it up is the strange place it decided to take off at. The first episode has nothing to with anything at all. It's a filler episode feel free to call it episode 0 if it makes you feel better. From watching it it's simply a way to gather your attention to the new style and reintroduce the characters. I suppose they figured since this anime is being based off the manga instead if they just started it off like that then they would lose audience. Since the first few episodes of the original actually stick with the manga to an extent.

The animation and drawing style might be the second thing you notice. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the new style they added to it at times it felt like I was watching a flash video with how different the characters are drawn (except al and hughes they look awesome all the time for some reason). But most of the time watching the animation is awesome and it grows on you over time I've watched it about 6 times and I am sort of getting used to it. I'm sure the animation and drawing will get better as the show goes on and it might change a bit considering in the beginning chapters of the manga the characters look somewhat different from where they are now. (Think like inuyasha beginning, okay then ending rather good drawing and animation.)

For me the third thing I noticed was Roy's voice and this might not bother anyone at all or you might not have noticed. But toru ohkawa is not our roy anymore. I could tell by the fact that that underlying arrogance is missing from his voice he sounds more boyish, I suppose that would be the word for it. Our new voice is Miki Shinichiro who does urahara (bleach). And Roy basically sounds exactly the same. When I first heard it I couldn't help but go "mata dozo" (which you would get if you ever played a Japanese copy of bleach and you go to urahara shop.) ANYWAY, it's going to take me awhile to get used to this voice as well as Hawkeye since her voice is now orisaka fumiko. (Whats this bleach invasion don't they have some bleach anime shows to do?) But for a moment I didn't notice and i don't think her voice really makes much of a difference on the character like Roy's so far.

So when we start getting more into the episode, skipping the totally random villain who plays no part in anything further than his one episode debut. You get back to hearing the short jokes... oh those short jokes. Now some people miss them and others don't. I like the new spin on the way they animated it it's very entertaining. Also remembering ed's style of transmutation occasionally he makes awkward things that have his head in like chibi form on them you get to see that show up more now yay for those random moment of humor amongst serious scenes.

We also actually get funny things from Roy too when Hughes pops up, you get to see his annoyance with his best friend displayed much differently from his over the phone conversations and more rather funny Roy parts. (I don't want to give anything away since most people probably aren't going to see it for awhile.)

Next thing is when it cuts to commercial break. This part is like I am playing soul Calibur or something. You get Ed at first with FMA printed ont the picture and somebody says "fullmetal alchemist" in english (that was awkward in itself). Then we cut back in and you get the same thing only with an Al picture and a different voice. Soooo, like your playing soul calibur. I am like waiting for the "hit the start button" to pop on the bottom of the screen after hearing this.

so last point on my rant last point I have been seeing a lot of negativity for the opening and ending of fma compared to the original's op and ed's. Yui sings our op which if your a bleach watcher you know rolling star. I like the music it's slow and builds up nicely. The animation also follows the same flow pretty well. The problem with the op is not only does Yui's singing not sound apealing to some. (which is fine.) The fact that there is parts where Riza and Winry are actually animated to look like they are singing the lyrics is a no. I personally like it.. (Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I welcome opposition to see all sides of things.)Actually I loved it. Being that I make AMV's ocassionally to have something like that just adds to my arsonal of usable things. Which I thought after watching it was fracking awesome. Did I mention riza looked hot..... xd Um... next!

I can't say I am over the moon for the ed but it's a very interesting animation with like crayola drawings. After watching it a few times it looks like a parody of the original in parts. As for the music I am not going to download it to my ipod but it's not some strange god awful music.

Anyway, It was only the first episode and on top of that a filler! Who has ever heard of a filler being the first episode? But I give it a 8/10 for now just for having to get used to the animation and Roy and Riza's voices being different. But for being a filler it follows the mood of the FMA manga very well bringing in the humor during serious parts that the manga displays very often. I look forward to seeing how the real story goes.

Side note: As it progresses I am sure my rating will go up (because fma is awesome obviously and I have a love for it otherwise I would have never made this guild.) Till then that's where I stand. Now I demand everyone who love anime and or FMA go watch this. (probably the latter since you joined this guild or bothered even looking in here.)

Or not if you don't wanna be like me and wonder if it's next week already so I can see more. lol. (Seriously.. Sunday be here please...)

Haha, I think it's great that I was all 5 paragraphs in the announcement and it's more like 8 or 9.

Bam SUNDAY!
HAPPY EASTER!
I know mines happy new episode of fma.

So I don't think I'll nearly write as many paragraphs about this episode as the first one but lets see how close I get.

So we get back to our almost the same not exactly looking series.
There were changes made that were manga accurate. (Awesome!) And some that weren't we did get to see more Hughes. Everyone is always happy to see that guy. And we did get a little bit of a skip on parts of the manga but nobody said it was going to be 100% accurate.

As far as the lines go some parts were like exact quotes from the manga which I think is grand. It keeps people who haven't read it and might want to on almost the same page as those who have read it.

I didn't get the whole flash video animation vibe this time. It seemed a little better between drawing and animation. So that's going with what I thought it would. I expect it to only get better as time goes on.

With this episode I have no complaints on anything. Haven't heard any yet either. (I think that means we are in a good place.) So for this episode and not really noticing Roy's voice. (being too absorbed in the show I think helped.) A straight 10/10. (told you it would go up.)

I recommend you go google it or something not that hard.
And await next week when we dive into Lior.

(By the way if you want the first episode (legally!) Check out Funimation and go to FMA on the sidebar. should give you brother hood and a watch it option on the bottom in big red letters! (Sorry it's subbed only so far but at least it's legal and free.)

(ps... Seriously Riza... anytime.. is hot...)

I just noticed I never wrote about episode 3.. Probably because I wasn't feeling up to it and I was busy.

So lets do a late one so I can write about episode 4 tomorrow. >>

-watches the show again and writes this at the same time :O-

Okay so we have essentially the same opening as we had in the first episode obviously the first few episodes did stick with the manga. Most of it is the same till we get to Rose. Ah Rose how little of a point you have after this. Anyway, her hair is darker more like a brownish maroon than a pink and her skin isn't so dark. Now a lot of people are like oh why is her skin all lite whats with that. That's not right. wrong folks it is right. Lior is in the mountains if you look at the map not the desert thus her skin would be lite due to the sun being more forgiving in the mountain than the desert. : )

We still get a giant list of human ingredients when ed talks to rose with a cool little twist. Or at least I thought it was more interesting.

um yeah why I have nothing to say about this episode is beyond me. Probably because it was essentially the same and offered me no real entertainment value besides waiting to see what changes they made.

Anyway complaint address! Transitions I thought it was sorta interesting with transitions people thought it was freaking retarded. But this way you get to see other characters reactions to the situation at hand a lot better than angling the drawing so you see part of the characters face and the other characters who is a little off in the distance and you don't see it so much.

I was a little disappointed we didn't get the Rose in Al's armor scene I sorta like that scene. (makes me wonder if they are going to cut out any more Roy and Riza scenes like they did in the second episode.. BLEH!)

Next complaint freaking Hulk Cornello. The hell was that! The philosophers stone's rebound turned him into the incredible hulk only uglier. XD I was like no way! I was seriously sitting there watching it with my friend Ryan and we were WTFing for like 5 minutes even his wife got in on it. Anyway! Yeah that was awkward. Um the whole thing was in short for me a disaster, yet entertaining, though I wouldn't have done it that way but whatever.

Anyway um other complaints... No giant statue smash on top of that yeah well obviously from the second episode it wasn't going to be the same and they edit and skip some parts. So we can't be all like oh well he didn't and he didn't yeah I get it I am disappointed at times too when they change things and stuff. But they can't make it EXACTLY the same or they would lose audience cause some people don't wanna get that feeling of Deja vu all the time.

Oh oh another thing Gluttony's voice is different I wouldn't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. People like the original and some like the new voice I had no opinion on it. I mean both sound equally like a gluttony type voice if that makes sense.
and lust just sounds seductive as always no change there. : )

I noticed I wrote nothing about episode two except that I liked it. Ahaha. Maybe I should actually write about it. O_o; What a concept.

Well we have a Nina attack tomorrow and we all know how that tugs on peoples heart strings. What a depressing episode and only more like that on the way. : ( I can't wait till we get past these flashback episodes and what next Sunday's episode is going to be about.

(Oh ho ho Riza got in the preview for the next episode! What?! Seriously she's like the hottest Anime character ever even with short hair. If you feel like cosplaying as her and coming to my front door, I might feel like buying you an expensive diamond ring and marrying you. : ))
