Rhiloss - Manda
Lucian and Rion - Skie
Well, as things had turned out, his plan to use the vial didn't work out so well. The thing -stank- basically. But of course, he hadn't known that until he tried to use it to bribe some snacks out of Ka one night. And rather than getting snacks, he got a lecture and was sent to bed -early- too. Stupid twins. They probably gave him something gross on purpose.
And now... the icy Scent rather intended to find them, and make them pay for it. He wasn't even thinking of -how- he might do that, just angry and stomping along the street looking for them.
They were actually hanging around the front yard as they promised this time around. Tossing a ball back and forth, they both seemed terribly bored... but after having been threatened to within and inch of their lives by very angry guardians, the pair had decided to be nice. After all, it was easier to wheedle trips to the park and elsewhere out of Cyralthein when he was in a good mood and not angry at them.
Rion's stomach gurgled hungrily and he sighed, "Could have at least eaten dinner...."
His twin nodded, "Yeah. I'm really hungry." In addition to grounding them to the premises, Cyr had made them forgo dinner - bad children went to bed hungry, after all.
Ah ha! -There- they were. Eyes narrowed, Rhiloss stomped up to the yard and stopped just short of where he thought they could throw that ball and hit him with it. "You got me in trouble!" he yelled then, hands on hips.
Lucian blinked, hands held up to catch the ball Rion had just thrown and glanced Rhiloss' way. "Wha- OW! Hey!" The twin totally ignored the other scent then and ran at his brother, trying to catch him so he could muss Rion's hair, "You did that on purpose!"
"No I didn't!" Rion laughed as he jumped back, spun and ran behind Rhiloss, "HIS FAULT. HIT HIM!" Grinning with mischief, he ducked behind his cover.
"No it wasn't!" Catching on, though, Lucian ran towawrd Rhiloss and tried to grab him instead, wanting to muss his hair now. Both Rion and Rhiloss would pay; his head hurt!
Rhiloss just stood his ground, frowning at them... and then when they got close, he reared back and kicked at their shins - hard. "I dont' care about your stupid ball or your dumb game! That vial you gave me smelled gross!"
Caught off guard, Lucian ended up getting kicked and yelped in pain as he staggered back. Rion, however, growled and dodged the other's attempt to kick him - flinging himself at the other. Nobody hurt his brother! "Don't you touch him!" Lifting fist into the air, Rion swung at Rhiloss.
Lucian, however, was rather indignant about the whole thing and stood watch as his brother attempted to beat up the offending scent. "You deserve to be got in trouble!" He yelled back, angry.
Ha! Good thing about being short. He could duck those wild punches pretty easily, aiming another kick at Lucian for good measure. "Why?" he called back at the same time. "Cause I didn't give you any good info? Is that why you did it? I bet you didnt' find anything out anyway!"
"Why what?" Lucian asked as he aimed a kick back at Rhiloss, timed to coincide with his brother's punches, "We weren't even near you - it's not our fault. We were minding our own business!"
Rion grunted as his swings missed, rumbling with displeasure, "Not our fault. Go away shorty! Nobody wants you here! Stop attacking my brother!!"
"You attacked me first!" he claimed - though they really hadn't. But they were going to, he knew it! "Ow!" he yelled suddenly as the kicking worked where the punching hadn't. Quickly, he tried to get out from between them, backing up.
And that's why Lucian lunged forward to grab Rhiloss's lapels and tried to swing him hard enough to throw him to the ground. "We did not! Don't even try that." He growled, voice low and surprisingly dark for a child his age. Breath heaving, he held up a hand when Rion went to take a free swing.
"What are you talking about?" Rion growled, eyeing the other as he cracked his knuckles, "Speak quickly or you'll go home black and blue, we promise, and we always keep our promises." A sneer to match his brother's.
Rhiloss did indeed hit the ground - breath knocked out of him with a gasp. He shook his head and glared up at them. "You were coming after me. And I told you. That stuff you gave me was gross and it got me in trouble." He didn't seem much phased by the dark tone in Lucian's voice, his own gaze having gone cold.
Sitting on Rhiloss, Lucian glared right back at the other, stubborn and proud, "You kicked me first. I wasn't going to hurt you." Eyes narrow, he was quickly joined by his brother, who stood opposite Lucian.
"How would we know it's gross? You took it. If you were stupid enough to use it without testing it first, it's not our problem." Rion snorted, "Besides, you deserved it. Useless. No information at all."
Getting back up to his feet, Rhiloss glared at them both. "Whatever," he scoffed. "I still say you did it on purpose somehow." Nope, he didn't like these guys, not at all.
"And we say we didn't." The replied at the same time, crossing arms in the same fashion and even wearing similar expressions. Save for the different clothing, one might not be able to tell them apart.
"If you pay us, we'll give you something better." Lucian spoke suddenly, a wry look in his eyes, "To get you out of trouble - even be able to smell them first. If you don't you're stupid twice over."
Rion shrugged, "Stupid either way, if you ask me. What've you got? We have lots of things to trade."
"Why would I -pay- you for something good when you should've given me that in the first place?" Rhiloss asked, frowning. "Besides, I've got no money."
"You took without checking. Not our fault." Rion replied sharply, arching a brow as he wiped dirt from his face, "We'll give you something good...."
"And who said we want money? You gotta be able to do something better then that. What if.... what if you did us favours? Like... followed orders for a week or something? That might be useful."
Lucian nodded, "Or... or you could get something for us. There's this place.... it sells charms and things." He paused, exchanging glances before they both smiled - having obviously just decided on something, "They throw out lots and lots of crystals when the magic runs out - don't know why. Maybe they're a single charge or something. Anyway, get a bunch of those crystals out of their garbage and bring them to us. Good crystals - not crappy ones."
They smiled. If Rhiloss went dumpster diving, it'd be entertaining... and they'd have a gift to give their guardian. Just a random thank-you for they'd noticed Cyr worked with gems a lot.
"What? Followed you around for -what-? To pick up trash behind you that you drop or something? No," Rhiloss said flatly. But he frowned at the mention of the crystals. "Why would they throw them out if they still look good? I am not about to go steal things for you. Then i'll be in jail with the murderer."
"I don't know, and I don't really care." Rion replied, shrugging, "One time thing. Go get a bagful of those crystals and bring them back to us. That's all you have to do. It's not stealing if it's in the trash - they aren't wanted anyway."
"Besides, you want to impress your guardian, right? Make up for that horrid stench," he snickered, "that you picked. What we have is worth that tiiiiny bit of effort. Unless you're a coward. A short, uninformative coward." Lucian added, smiling.
"Fine. Where is it?" Rhiloss asked, brushing himself off and ignoring little aches from where he'd been kicked and thrown down. "-If- there's really some in the trash, I'll get some." After all, if there weren't any crystals he could just leave. Wasn't like he could get in trouble for wandering around -outside- the store. He hoped.
"Good. It's down the street, turn left and follow the lane to the small shopping area. There's a flower shop across the street from it and it has a moon on its sign." Lucian replied haughtily.
"Have fun playing in the trash!~" They called together and left him to go rummage around in the house for an appropriate reward. Stupid guy, doing their work for them.
"Shut up," Rhiloss muttered... but he headed off to the mentioned shop, scuffing feet. By the time he got there, though, he'd thought about the idea a little and ... found that it actually appealed to him. Spying the sign, he quickly headed around toward the back - almost instantly spotting the glint of crystals in a pile of other things. Bingo.
Moving in closer, he squatted down and reached carefully for a few of the shiniest ones - picking them out and sticking them into his pocket. Once he figured that he had enough... he turned around and headed back to where the twins where. "Got your crystals," he called, smirking. "You better do something cool with them."
They were sitting on the steps of the house like good children, a small box in Rion's hands. When Rhiloss returned, they went over to him eagerly. "Good, don't worry, there's plans for those."
Lucian held out a sand bucket for Rhiloss to dump the crystals into while Rion offered the box. It had no lid on it so the prize inside was easily seen. It was a necklace with an ornate, gem encrusted pendant in the shape of an ankh and the eye of Ra. A single large ruby served at the iris for the eye while yellow gold and onyx stone served as the materials for the rest of the pendant. "Good enough?"
Rhiloss' mouth dropped open at the sight of the necklace. "Where'd you -get- that?" he asked, snapping mouth shut after. Oh gee, now he was making himself look like an idiot. "If you stole it you're gonna go to jail," he pointed out - reaching to quickly swipe the box. Wouldn't be his fault!
"From our house. It's not stealing if it's ours to give away in the first place." Lucian frowned, dropping his gaze to inspect the crystals, "There's a lot in there... good. You're not totally useless after all."
Rion was watching Rhiloss though, "And even if we did 'steal' it, we'd just say you took it from us when we were showing you. It's from our house. So don't try anything stupid, got it Rhiloss?"
"If you're gonna say I took it then the deal's off," he replied, shoving the box back toward them. "Either you gave it to me, or you can give those crystals back right now."
Lucian cuffed Rion upside the head and turned, shielding the crystals, "No. We won't. Will we Rion?"
"Ow! Hey!" Rion grumbled but nodded, "Just remember you can't go back on the deal. So don't try to get us in trouble."
They twins waited a moment before turning and skittering into the house to prepare their gift. This was legit... and well, Cyr had so much of the other stuff... it wasn't like it was very valuable or that their guardian would notice it missing. He always just stuffed the pieces into an envelope when he was finished. Couldn't be that important.
