So...i have been wanting one of these for a while, and am about to order one now. It should arrive around the same time, if not before my new laptop.
This plug is basically a "soundcard in a cable", one end is USB the other end is a 1/4' plug for plugging into a guitar or bass jack (i also read about an electronic percussionist using it too). There is also a port along the plug to plug headphones into.
now...i know soundtech has a similar product called the lightsnake... and unless you are using a mac the stealthplug is the way to go. The lightsnake only comes with demos of sony software, whereas the stealthplug comes with several programs that can be used..including one called amplitube 2, which is basically like a virtual pedal board, for adding effects to what you record. ALSO the stealth plug comes with 500 mb of loops of guitar, bass and drum grooves!
The StealthPlug retails at most places for around 99 bucks, but i have found a range of prices, as low as like 65 bucks (i am comparing s&h charges right now to see which site truly is the best deal, i was disappointed that sweetwater didnt have the lowest price like they usually do, because they usually also dont charge shipping)
now...in comparison the lightsnake is supposed to normally cost around i think 60 bucks, but can be found like as cheap as 40 or so..
so, the lightnsnake is overall cheaper, BUT the stealthplug comes with a whole buncha kickass software, so it is well worth the extra money. The only thing is, the software that comes with the stealthplug doesnt work on mac....so if you have a mac you are better off with the lightsnake.

Also...
IK multimedia has the stealthpedal. It is more than twice the price (stealth pedal around 200 bucks, when i can find the stealtplug for around 70) of the stealthplug. It comes with most of the same software, with i think one program different than the stealthplug. except it doesnt seem to come with the 500 mb of loops.
it works similar to the stealthplug except it is a pedal that can be used for controlling the programs that comes with it, and can also be used as a midi controller. It also can be used as an audio interface and can be used for 2 instruments instead of just one!
I will probably just buy the stealthplug for now, then eventually get a stealthpedal later.....but i am still contemplating lol

AAAH! cant decide... do i want to spend 72 bucks (after shipping) on the plug...or the 189 (free shipping!) i found the pedal for...
I am thinking, while it would be sweet i don't NEED the pedal right now, the plug would do me fine...but only 117 bucks more for the pedal...

So, it's different from the Phantom box converter thing...but similar at the same time.
Choices Choices!!! Which one's better to you?

I dont make enough money, nor can I save it up fast enough with the amount I make. 6.55$ is hardly enough to live on an hour.

Oh....ouch...I forgot in your part of the country the hourly wage is different. Cost of living is supposedly cheaper, but not by enough for that to be justified....when i lived in florida it was the same way, hourly wages were lower than i was used to, and the cost of living, i felt was the same as back in New England.... i think that is why there are so many criminals and meth labs down there. One of the only ways to make a decent living is through crime.
Out this way it is really hard to find anything below 7-7.50, most jobs i see lately seem to be starting around 8 an hour.

Damn, I really need to move then! lol yeah, 6.55 really sucks. It takes about a whole pay check to pay my part of the bills, which makes it difficult to save up for things like saving up for my tattoe, equipment, hair fall materials...Blah..lol

Oh yeah. That is hard, right now, through unemployment i am making right around the same. It is hard...at least the one nice thing is where i am staying, my roomie owns the house, and is understanding of the fact i am unemployed...so he just takes whatever money i give him. so...i am kinda getting a chance to save too, because he isnt expecting much from me, so it gives me a little more room for financial play, as opposed to when i was making more
