I don't know if anyone still gets on here or not, but I thought I'd make a new topic (at least I think it's new...)

Anyone here disgusted by pregnancy? It freaks me out.

I don't like being around pregnant women, but unfortunately I am at work all the time. I get very uneasy and never know what to say. I know I'm supposed to say, "aww, how cute, congrats!" But what really wants to come out is, "omg, you poor thing!! why??"

There's a little...thing! Growing inside of you! Like Alien! Heck, it even looks like an alien, have you all seen those videos of a fetus?

And with being pregnant, there's the fluid everywhere, the feeling bad & crappy, and well, your gut getting ginormous.

Finally there's the birth, but I don't think I need to describe how bad that part is.

I don't find pregnancy disgusting but it bothers me that everyone is supposed to be all happy and so, you know act in a special way with the pregnant person.

Giving birth on the other hand... I'm like "Why do people want to do that?"

I feel the same as Mikusagi. It also bothers me that you're supposed to be all happy and stuff for them...

I don't get what the fascination is, either. You know, people wanting to feel the baby kick or something.

Then again, I'm not fond of babies, either. Everyone seems to be overly compelled to say, "Aww, how cute" when they see a baby or even a picture of a baby. Me...not so much.

Also, our high school has a high enough concentration of pregnant teens at our school that we have a daycare. At. Our. School. And the pregnant women girls get that 'happy for you' treatment, when really, to me, it looks like a stomach badge that reads "I had sex and didn't prepare for a baby."

But as for the fondness of the baby, I suppose it would be that it's your 'creation.' It might be ugly and hideous, but it's yours, so you love it.. (Bad example: my friend was bad at sewing but she made a butterfly that didn't look like a butterfly, but she loved it.) But it's more personal than the butterfly, because it's of your flesh. XP And, believe it or not, there are some people who genuinely want babies (meaning, they aren't accidents!) to raise, teach, and love. I guess something like passing on life and philosophy. I'm not sure how to explain what I mean. Not that I can go into depth at this... I'm no expert. I haven't even asked a pregnant woman anything like that, either, so this is simply the theory of an Asexual. XP

Well, we are a boarder town...by Mexico...and there aren't many amusements or things to do in the actual town except eat, go to movies, or wander our one mall... So, it's probably boredom that contributes to it.

I think we have at least 10 babies in the daycare... And at least 2 girls walking the hall that are pregnant.

And there's just an over-all 'not care' thing going on here. I dunno... But even the teachers don't seem to care. They still say, 'aww, how cute' at baby pictures, too. Frankly, it's weird for me to see that.

And when I first saw gymnasium, I thought of a gym as in a work out place...but my German teacher told us about the gymnasiums there, so then I realized what you meant. Yay. XP

You call aunt Berit up? XP

And I would guess so. The majority seems to immerse themselves in either alcohol, other drugs, or sex. That seems to be their life and they can't imagine otherwise. I've even had people argue to me..that I have drank or done drugs. It was so...weird...

Oh. You're probably right. I get mixed up really easily. My Spanish is much better than my German... But that's not saying much. sweatdrop

Well, it seems the majority are like that. But certainly not everyone. XP And yes...computer, PS2, reading, drawing, writing, and reading for me. :3

I think that pregnancy itself is a beautiful thing, but for TEENAGERS who aren't (in my opinion) responsible and emotionally mature enough for the hardship that is a baby. At my old school, there were at least ten girls pregnant, maybe even more, and half of them FLAUNTED their pregnancy; at one point a young lass tried to fight another girl even though she was pregnant. I just don't think that pregnancy, especially how it is thought of today is conducive to today's young adult. Hell, there are kids getting pregnant at twelve and thirteen and it's just disgusting to me. Let the ADULTS have the children I think, not the children themselves.

I would have to agree with pregnancy is vile, worst moment of my life was being stuck in a room with a women giving birth, let me tell you its absolutely disgusting seeing it happen, I don't want to see any other persons genitalia any day never mind seeing it with a scene that wouldn't look out of place in alien.

I also have to agree that I cant understand this idea of being happy because they're pregnant.. woo well done screwing up your future moron, I always like to go "wow you've put on weight", and when they go I'm pregnant I follow up with "Yer right then that's one huge baby then", they never bother me about it again.

what botheres me most is that theres 7.5 billion people on the eath now
there werent even 100 million total 200 years ago- bc times

and now people are too good to adopt a child legalize abortion or make it easyer and less awrkard in a 2 faced socioty to get birth control of make having your tubes tied for free

and eveone tells me how great the womans bod is its made to give birth ....then tell me why did soo many women die giving it back before modern medicne ...ill tell you the human body isnt perfect........i mean all the other animals rarely have birth givineg problems

and and they talk of how its an exeperence that all women need....well okie girls lets add playing with lightsockets, useing periceing to tie your self to a hangglider and fly around a cliff, and eating an enitre watermelon in one bite

I half see where you're coming from.

Personally, I don't at all mind being around pregnant women. As long as they want children, then they're perfectly nice to be around.

However, under no circumstances would I ever want to be pregnant. If I ever decide I'm not asexual, I will use birth control. If that failed, I would resort to abortion. Because the idea of me being pregnant freaks the hell out of me. I fear normalised gender roles, and therefore fear being forced into domesticity.

There are people with unwanted pregnancies who go through with it, because their religion forbids abortion, or they don't believe in adoption. This unnerves me, because I personally believe the only people having children should be those who genuinely want to/ agree to. Whether it be for themselves to raise them, or to have them adopted by friend or family who are unable to have children.

The point is, that it upsets me when women who had other plans for their lives, disregard all of that when they become pregnant, and suddenly dedicate their lives to motherhood. Obviously it's their choice and so I don't voice my opinion aloud to them. But that's just how I feel.
